Thirty
Bella watched the Nurse as she stood in between her legs. She clutched onto Alex's hand as Paige had made the decision to stand against the wall because she wanted to see everything. Alex had told her that she was crazy as he held onto Bella, realising that Paige probably had the better idea when he felt the grip that Bella had placed on his hand. It was too late to back out now.
"Maybe if you'd have backed out nine months ago.." he chuckled to himself, as Bella turned to look at him with a confused slant taking over her mouth.
"What are you chuckling away at? I don't see anything funny right now.." she glared.
"Nothing baby, don't worry." He soothed as he stroked Bella's hair back away from her face.
The Nurse looked at Bella, focusing on her before they began. She had just informed Bella that she was now ready to give birth and that when the next contraction hit, she wanted Bella to start pushing. Bella had asked when she was allowed to have the 'gas and air' and the Nurse had put it so simply, saying only "whenever you're in pain".
Bella reached for the mask and frowned at it. "What's wrong?" Alex asked.
She took a deep breath from the mask and waited to respond. "I'm skeptical. I've taken about five breaths from this thing and there's still three pains in my ass standing outside." Bella continued with her serious look, twirling the mask around in her hand as Alex and Paige burst into laughter, the Nurses in the room snickering. Bella eventually smirked and clutched both the mask and Alex's hand tight as a contraction hit her hard, instantly doubling her over in pain. The Nurse told her to start pushing and praised her as Bella pushed, leaning forward and holding on tight to Alex's hand, trying her hardest not to scream. The Nurse stood and told her that she needed to breathe properly, assuring her that it was alright to scream, considering how much pain her body was going through at this precise moment.
Another Nurse sat positioned in between Bella's legs, her hands ready to guide the baby out when it was close. "You'll be happy to hear I can see the head, Bella!" She smiled as Bella looked at Alex. He kissed her forehead as a tear formed in his eye.
This was it. This was officially it. He was finally about to become a Daddy.
"Oh God, so can I." Paige gagged in the background. "I think I'm gonna be sick."
"Would you like to leave the room?" One of the Nurses asked her, worrying as she became pale in the face. "I'm sure Bella won't mind -"
"Nope, I want to stay right here and witness the birth of my Godchild and I am going to do it, even if it kills me!" Paige was adamant as she crossed her arms over her chest, and planting her feet solid on the cold, hard hospital floor. She looked over at Bella and felt a sharp twinge of sadness run through her veins. Glancing towards the window in hope to find Zack, she realised that of course, the blinds were shut for privacy. Paige needed to escape, but she also needed to be there for the birth of Isobel. She couldn't leave.
She just couldn't.
Meanwhile, Bella felt another contraction as once again, she surged forward, riding out the pain and pushing her baby into the world. Alex grasped her hand just as tight as he focused on her, focused on how beautiful Bella was, even when in sheer agony with sweat falling from her face. He focused on her even as the Nurse informed them that another two pushes and the baby should be out.
Paige felt a mix of emotions race through her body, not knowing whether to feel sad or happy. On the inside, she was freaking out. She knew she could feel a panic attack coming on as the room slowly and surely got smaller. But on the outside, she glued it together with a smile as she watched the Nurse guide Isobel's head.

"How do you think they're getting on in there?" Rian asked anxiously, as he paced the waiting room of the hospital.
"Rian, they're doing fine, I'm sure. If the moans and groans and occasional swearing are anything to go by, everything is going according to plan. Quit your worrying!" Zack calmed as he walked up to Rian and shook his shoulders violently, making him stand still.
"You're right. Okay, I'm sorry. Okay. Well.. how do you think Paige is? I mean.. y'know.." Rian bit his lip with a nervous twitch.
"I'm sure she's okay, too. I hope so anyway. She seems really happy about it all, and it only seems to get to her every now and then.. not as often as it used to. I don't know, quit worrying or you'll start me off. Where's Jack?"
"Check Twitter and you'll soon find out." Rian laughed.
Zack pulled his phone out of his pocket and unlocked it, his thumb heading straight for the Twitter app. He opened it and waited for it to load as he saw a Tweet from Jack. Instead of scrolling down the feed, he went straight on to Jack's Twitter profile and laughed to himself, turning around as he walked back to a seat, setting himself down and reading.

The Nurse told her to start pushing and praised her as Bella pushed, leaning forward and holding on tight to Alex's hand, trying her hardest not to scream. I just read this story and its prequel and sincerely loved them both. You're an amazing writer, and these stories dealt with a lot of emotions, ranging from sad to loving and I just really enjoyed them both. You captured both of these themes really well. It took me a few chapters to get into the first story, but once I did, I was hooked and just kept reading until I finished this one. All within... two days I believe, I just couldn't stop reading it.
Even though it's been a few years since you've posted them, I just thought I would leave a comment and let you know I really enjoyed them. Great job with them. Just wanted to show people like me are still stumbling across them and enjoying them. <3
I'm bummed to see you haven't written anything else; if you ever choose to one day, let me know and I will for sure read what you have. You're a very talented writer and I would love to read more of your writing. No pressure though, lol.
