Two
"And I was going to be a Daddy." Zack gulped, a very large lump in his throat, refusing to move and threatening to choke him.
"I don't get how it happened. I don't get why it had to happen. He said I was nine weeks. That's over two months. Zack, that means I got pregnant the week we met. Zack, I want my baby. Why did my baby leave me? Why?" Paige grasped Zack's arm as he held on tight.
Jack signaled that he, Rian, Alex and Bella were going to go and wait outside. Zack acknowledged it with a nod as Paige carried on crying. Her blonde hair had been tied back, as Bella knew she would probably resort to tearing it out through frustration.
"I don't know.. sweetie." Zack chose his words carefully, knowing that 'baby' probably wasn't the best word to say right now. "It's okay though, I'm here." Zack kissed Paige's forehead as she clung on to him for dear life. She looked down at her stomach and started crying even harder.

"I'm in actual shock." Alex broke the silence. He rested his head on Bella's shoulder as she stared straight ahead. Rian and Jack just nodded in agreement.
"I'm going for a cigarette, fuck this." Bella pulled away from Alex and sprinted to the exit. She walked over to the smoking shelter and held a cigarette between her lips, bringing the lighter up close and sparking up her cigarette. Alex followed her out and stood behind her as she smoked. He watched as a single tear fell from her eye, and ran down her already-stained cheek. He moved one hand around her stomach, and with her free hand, she held on. "I didn't mean to push you away. I'm sorry." Bella croaked.
"It's okay, sweetheart. I understand."
"I don't get it. I just don't fucking get it. I don't get why it had to fucking happen. Why Paige?"
Alex had no idea what to say. What do you say to your girlfriend who is ranting away? There isn't really anything you can say, you just let them get on with it. He tightened his grip on her hand and waited for her to finish smoking, as he turned her around and pulled her in close. Once she'd finished, he lifted her chin up and kissed her gently on the lips. She reciprocated and wrapped her arms around him. "Did the Doctor say when they think she might be able to go home?" Alex managed quietly.
"No. Not yet. He wants to run some tests, I think he said. Make sure that it.. the baby.. is.. is.. all gone.." Bella sobbed into Alex's chest. He felt her heavy breathing as she tried her hardest not to cry, tried her hardest to be strong. "I don't think she'll be home until late tomorrow."
"What do you want to do?" Alex asked softly.
"What do you mean?"
"Do you want to stay here?"
Bella nodded, no words were spoken. She squeaked as she tried to suppress the tears that were choking her. The fight went from her and she burst into tears. Eventually the two of them walked back inside, hand in hand. They met back up with Jack and Rian, who had moved to the canteen with hot drinks, two of them unoccupied. When Alex sat down, Bella sat on the chair next to him and curled up close. Rian pushed the hot drinks towards them and they smiled gently as they reached for them. Bella took a sip of her drink and woke herself up, knowing that she should probably go home but not being able to bear the thought of leaving her best friend alone in this big scary hospital over night.
"I'm going to go and see Paige, okay?" She whispered to Alex quietly, as they were all half asleep.
Alex kissed her and told her that he loved her, to which she replied the same. She walked off sheepishly to Paige's hospital room and found Zack staring out of the window whilst Paige was asleep, curled up on her side.
"Hey." Bella whispered.
"Hey." Zack replied.
"How is she doing?"
"Not well. There's nothing I can say, Bella. I can't make her feel better. I'm so shit. I'm so, so shit." Zack walked up to Bella and hugged her. She rubbed his back and soothed him.
"You're not shit, Zack. You're in shock. It's okay. Go and see the guys, I'll take care of Paige, alright? I've got my phone on me. Text me and let me know what you decide to do, please."
Zack nodded glumly and skulked off down the corridor, searching for his friends.

Bella took Zack's place at the window, and stared at the way the night sky made the town look beautiful. The way the night lights lit up in the dark sky and the way the stars shone brightly. Tonight, there was an unborn star up there, sparkling and shining bright. She walked up to Paige's bed and crouched down to stroke her hair. Bella pushed Paige's fringe out of her face and kissed her forehead gently, so as not to wake her up.
Quietly and slowly, she walked to the other side of the bed, lifted the quilt and slid in underneath the cover. She snuggled up to Paige and Paige realised, as she stirred slightly but made no noise, just shuffled in closer to Bella.
Bella wrapped her arms around Paige, who clutched them with all her might.
And there, in that moment, they both fell asleep.

I just read this story and its prequel and sincerely loved them both. You're an amazing writer, and these stories dealt with a lot of emotions, ranging from sad to loving and I just really enjoyed them both. You captured both of these themes really well. It took me a few chapters to get into the first story, but once I did, I was hooked and just kept reading until I finished this one. All within... two days I believe, I just couldn't stop reading it.
Even though it's been a few years since you've posted them, I just thought I would leave a comment and let you know I really enjoyed them. Great job with them. Just wanted to show people like me are still stumbling across them and enjoying them. <3
I'm bummed to see you haven't written anything else; if you ever choose to one day, let me know and I will for sure read what you have. You're a very talented writer and I would love to read more of your writing. No pressure though, lol.
