The Last Night

*beep* *beep* *beep*

Alex stirred as he heard the sound of steady beating. Why the hell is there beeping in heaven...and why does it smell like bathroom cleaner? He heard the beeping speed up as his eyes flew open.

White. Everything was white. His eyes flew around what he now recognized to be a hospital room. The beeping sped up with his heartbeat when he realized that there was a hand in his. All it took was one look at the skunk hair of the person to know that it was Jack Barakat. Jack was sitting in a chair with his head resting on Alex's bed as he snored lightly. Alex couldn't see his face but he knew it was him.

"Uhm, Jack?" Alex said quietly.

Jack's body bolted upright and he grabbed Alex and squeezed him. He let go immediately when Alex groaned in discomfort.

"Shit. Sorry. Oh my god, you're awake." Jack said, still not releasing Alex's hand which confused him even more. Alex finally got a good look at Jack's face. His eyes were bloodshot and swollen as if he'd been crying and he had dark purple bags under his eyes. "Oh we better tell the doctor you're awake." Jack pressed the nurse button.

Alex ignored the obvious question running through his head regarding why Jack was there and asked another. "How long was I asleep?"

Jack's eyes widened. "Uhm, well.... Actually Lex you've been in a coma for two weeks now. Those pills you took didn't go easy on you."

Suddenly Alex remembered taking the pills. He remembered Jack coming in as well. He also remembered Jack on the phone. He snatched his hand away, frightening Jack. "You!" He yelled. "You're the reason I didn't die like I wanted to! What the fuck!?"

Jack simply nodded slowly and sat back in his chair. "I couldn't just let you die Alex."

"Why the hell not!? You sure wanted me dead yesterday... I mean... two weeks ago?" It came out as more of a question than anything else.

Jack seemed to be thinking through his answer. Alex thought this wise seeing as a wrong answer could end in his death.

Jack opened his mouth to speak, but closed it. Then he stood up and kissed Alex. It was just a small chaste kiss, but it didn't seem like the fireworks in Alex's head got the memo. When Jack pulled away his eyes were just as wide as Alex's.

"You're gay?" Alex whispered. Jack nodded. "Then why did you hurt me for being gay?"

"Because Zack told me to." Jack whispered back."

"But-" Alex was cut off by a nurse entering the room.

"Alex! Hi sweetie. It's nice to see you awake and moving." She said with a cheesy pediatrician smile on her face. In all honesty, she scared him. He grabbed Jack's hand once again. Jack seemed surprised, but he didn't move his hand.

It then occurred to Alex, he wasn't alone in this anymore. Jack was here. Jack was going through the same stuff. Well, kinda. One question remained in Alex's mind. Why did Jack do everything Zack said. Unfortunately, the nurse had a different question.

"How long has it been since you ate?"

I'm a terrible person, so I'm gonna leave you off on a cliffhanger.
Also, so apparently I fell asleep for like three hours when I got home.
Legit, I got home, got on Skype, talked to my boyfriend for about half and hour and then I was just out.
Thats what I get for staying up till one am on a school night.
