Dear María

Our stay in Nashville was awesome, and I almost flipped shit because of how many people came. Just wow.
We were in Atlanta and it was 6am. I had this massive hangover because last night we went partying and I made a bet with Jack and Alex of who could drink more. I won, which made me wake up earlier and decided to go to see Stella as I took care of my hangover. When the hangover started to go down, I changed into a normal outfit.
Ori was smoking outside, leaning on the paddock’s ‘fence’.
“Couldn’t sleep?” he smiled at me.
I shook my head and leaned next to him, watching Stella playing with her feet.
He put a cigarette in front of me and I took it.
I just needed a small break from everything.
“Wow, how bad are you getting?” he said, pretty concerned, with raised eyebrows.
“I don’t know” I shrugged, putting the cigarette between my lips, “How bad do you think I’m getting?”
“Pretty bad” he sent me a sad smile.
“You’re gonna light it or you’re gonna start with that stupid metaphor shit?” I heard a voice behind us.
I chuckled and turned to the figure, being greeted by Danny and Ben from Asking Alexandria. Danny leant and lightened the cigarette for me.
“Thanks” I exhaled.
“You’re welcome” he smiled back.
“No need for introductions, right?” Ben joined us, “I’m pretty sure you know who we are, and trust me, honey, we know who you two are, so… How’s it going?”
Oriol smiled at them and turned around as I chuckled.
“I’m doing pretty good, she, on the other hand, is going insane” Oriol said in a joking tone, but being serious.
“How come?” Danny lighted a cigarette for himself.
“I haven’t touched a cigarrette in three years” I shortened the whole story.
“Jesus Christ!” Danny exclaimed, “I wouldn’t be able to do that, seriously” he chuckled.
I laughed and took a few inhales from the cigarette, watching Stella walk up to us wit pinned back ears.
“Is that your bipolar horse?” Ben chuckled.
“The one and only” I said proudly.
“How come you guys are awake?” Oriol asked.
“Well…” Ben looked at his feet.
“THIS ASSHOLE OVER HERE” Danny put a hand on Ben’s shoulder, “Couldn’t sleep and, as I was sleeping on my couch, he basically jumped on me”
I laughed and Ben just looked embarrassed.
“I had been a few hours awake!” he tried to defend himself.
“Yeah, texting your wife! I told you, you wouldn’t be able to sleep or feel really sleepy tomorrow but nooo, you didn’t listen to me!” Danny answered.
I laughed harder.
“Wow, Danny Worsnop being all parental and shit” I chuckled.
“I’m just pissed at him” he punched Ben’s arm softly.
“Yeah, right…” I exhaled.
“You’re pissed because your phone died and couldn’t text your girlfriend” Ben chuckled as Danny sent him a look.
Oriol and I laughed and Ori cleared his throat as he threw his cigarette on the pavement and stepped on it.
“I’m going for a ride with Stella” he said, “You, missy, haven’t let me have lots of fun with her yet” he smiled at me.
“Fine, but don’t piss her off, I don’t wanna ride her this afternoon and have to try not be bucked off” I waved at him.
“Said and done, see you guys” he walked to Stella and started to tack her up before putting his riding gaiters.
“So” Ben turned to me, “You and Barakat, how’s it going?” he smirked.
“Pretty well” I smiled, “He’s the type of guy I’d make a sandwich for” they chuckled.
“Glad you found the right man” Danny took an inhale from his cigarette again, I was already finishing mine and threw it to the pavement and stepped on it. Danny raised his eyebrows, offering me another one and I just decided to fuck it and take it.
He handed me the lighter and I lighted my cigarette and handed him the lighter back.
“What’s making you so stressed?” Ben asked, leaning on the bus.
“I’m not 100% sure” I answered frankly.
“Does Jack prove you smoking again?” Danny asked me.
“I guess he doesn’t, but he does’t know so it’s not that much of a big deal” I trailed off.
Danny smirked, “Gonna hide it from him?”
“Nah” I smiled at them, “I’m just not gonna mention it, but he asks, I’ll be honest with him” I shrugged.
“Good girl” Ben chuckled.
“I’m not a girl, I’m a woman” I corrected.
“I can see that” Ben winked at me and I just rolled my eyes.
“I think we’re gonna be good friends, Mary” Danny chuckled.
“I was too until you said ‘Mary’” I scrunched up my nose.
“Alright, Mari” he corrected.
“That’s better” we laughed together.
Yeah, I was going to go along well with these guys.
