Thinking of You

I Still Hear the Rain

Two days later, it was finally time to fly to England. Luckily, it turned out that the doctor was wrong and my arm would be fine, as long as I didn’t strain it in any way. The flight was long, so Cora and I mostly slept through it.

I woke up about an hour before landing, so I did some reading, but my mind was barely focused on the words on the page.

We landed and went to our hotel, which was about five minutes from the venue. We were to be in England for three days, which was hopefully just enough time to win Zack back. The concert was tomorrow, so we had time to relax and check out the tourist-y type places in the days that followed.

But for now, we decided to go to the hotel and take a nap.

--

We woke up at around six in the evening, just in time for dinner. We went to a place called Nando’s, which had really yummy, simple food.

“So what are you going to wear tomorrow?” Cora asked.

“I don’t know.” I shrugged.

“It has to be something cute, but comfortable,” she advised.

“Got it,” I replied with a smile.

--

The next morning, we went out for breakfast and coffee.

“So are you excited?” Cora asked.

“Yeah, a bit.” I grinned in spite of myself.

After that, we went out and got our hair done, got facials, and got mani-pedis. When Zack saw me, I had to look perfect.

--

It was finally time to go to the concert. I put on the outfit I’d picked out, which was a blue and white striped tank top, ripped skinny jeans, and Vans. I accessorized with a necklace and a charm bracelet. I came out into the main area of Cora’s and my hotel room.

“So, how do I look?” I asked.

“Amazing!” Cora gushed.

“Great.” I grinned.

We headed out. Since the venue was only five minutes away from our hotel and it was an uncharacteristically warm day, we decided to just walk. But we didn’t have to walk very far since the line stretched a long way down the sidewalk.

I bounced up and down on my feet and Cora laughed at me.

--

It seemed like hours had passed, but we were finally led into the venue. We were led into a small room and all of us gathered around a guy with a lip ring and gauges in his ears, who cleared his throat after all of us had filed in.

“Welcome to the All Time Low Hustler Club Meet and Greet. Please raise your hand if you have not done an All Time Low Meet and Greet before.” He paused and several people, including Cora and I, raised their hands.

“Raise your hand if you have done a Meet and Greet before.” He paused again as several people raised their hands. “This is how things are going to go, for those of you who have not done this before. For the next thirty minutes, we’re going to go downstairs and hang out with All Time Low.” He spoke quickly, and slightly monotonously, as if he’d made this speech a million times, which he probably had.

“There are no tables, no lines, no stools. There are no rules. You can get autographs, you can get pictures, you can hold their hand, you can give them a hug.” This earned a few squeals. “Really, you can do whatever you want with the band as long as you don’t do anything inappropriate or to hurt the band or I’ll kick you out.” People laughed. “I’m dead serious!” He added.

“Alright, I have one request for you guys. Request number one, please do not call your friends and ask them to talk to the band. Other than that, everything is fair game. Once everyone has gotten their fair share of time with the band, keep in mind there’s a bunch of other people here hanging out, so. Once time is up, we will walk you back up the stairwell and into the venue. Any questions?” He paused. “Any complaints?” Cue laughter. “Alright, follow me,” he said finally.

We were led into a bigger room where four guys were standing around. I only vaguely recognized the other three from the party that Kara had invited me to, but my eyes were immediately drawn to Zack, who had his arms crossed, highlighting his muscles.

While most of the girls flocked to the guy with brown hair and the other guy with skunk hair, I made a beeline for Zack and Cora headed to the guy with straight white teeth who was standing next to him.

As I got into Zack’s line of sight, I expected him to look happy to see me, or at least pleasantly surprised, but his eyes narrowed.

When I got to him, I smiled weakly.

“Hi, Zack.”

“What the hell are you doing here?” He spat and my stomach dropped.
