Thinking of You

Forget About the Sunshine When It's Gone

Arianne’s Perspective

I was still moping about Zack. I know it seems strange, considering he hasn’t even tried to find me, but I still had feelings for him, at least the small amount of feelings that were able to develop over the course of that night.

I could tell that the people around me were getting impatient with me, but honestly, I couldn’t care less.

Cora came over one day.

“Little sis! We haven’t seen each other in ages!” she said to me when I greeted her at the door.

“Yeah, it has been a while,” I agreed.

“How about we go out drinking?” she suggested.

“Sure. I could use a girl’s night,” I told her.

“Fantastic! Go get a shower and get ready!” she said and I did so.

--

I got out of the shower and put on a warm grey sweater, a pair of black skinny jeans. I accessorized with a silver chain necklace with multi-colored gems on it, and a ring with a red heart instead of a gemstone on it. I slipped on my bright blue Vans and curled my red hair slightly.

I walked out and Cora looked at me.

“Well, it won’t get anyone in your pants, but it’ll do.” She sighed.

I rolled my eyes at her.

“Let’s just go,” I said and she walked out with me.

We went to Mo’s, which was one of our usual haunts.

--

Zack’s Perspective

I was trying to forget Arianne, really I was. And my week with the stomach flu provided ample distraction. Until I recovered.

The guys were over my house. Jack and Rian were playing video games and Alex was texting someone on his phone, occasionally glaring at the device.

“Hey Alex, you okay?” I asked.

“Uh yeah. Just Lisa drama.” He shrugged.

“What’s she saying?” I asked.

“She says we’re not spending enough time together. I just saw her yesterday!” Alex replied.

“Dump her,” Jack and Rian said in unison.

“I want to, but…” Alex trailed off.

“But she’s good in bed and you don’t think you could ever get that lucky again?” Jack guessed.

“Well, yeah, but--” Alex said, but Jack interrupted him again.

“Dude! You’re Alex Gaskarth! You could have any girl you wanted!” Jack told him.

“Yeah, but sometimes I want to fight for a girl.” Alex sighed.

Jack groaned.

“Then fucking stay with Lisa! She’ll give you a run for your money. Damn, when did you become such a chick?” Jack asked, laughing.

“Since I started hanging out with Zack!” Alex laughed, and tousled my hair.

“Dude, I could have you pinned down on that floor in minutes if you’re not careful,” I warned him.

“Ooh, Hulky not happy!” Alex mocked.

“Shut up,” I snapped.

“Dude, why don’t you just go back to The Greene Turtle and see her?” Jack asked. Damn, he was really playing matchmaker tonight.

“I don’t know,” I pondered.

“Well, Kara said she quit," Rian told me.

“What? Why?” I asked.

“Didn’t say. Hey, speaking of Kara, why don’t you just get Kara to give you Arianne’s number?” Rian suggested.

“Nah man, that’s too desperate. You’ve been watching too many Meg Ryan movies.” Alex laughed.

“Hey, how about we all go out tonight?” Jack suggested.

“Zack just finished off a week of throwing up. Do you really think he wants another night of it?” Rian asked.

“Dude, he’s a big boy, he knows when to stop. Right Zack?” Jack asked me.

“Sure.” I nodded.

“Great. Then it’s settled. Let’s head to Mo’s,” Jack said and we all headed out.

--

I had drunk more than I should have and all the guys seemed to think it was the most entertaining thing in the world.

After a few shots and a few beers, I could’ve sworn I saw Arianne being hauled out of the bar by a taller blonde girl, but I figured I was hallucinating.

--

Arianne’s Perspective

“But I waannaa drink mooore,” I slurred as Cora dragged me out of the bar.

“No, I think you’ve had enough,” Cora replied.

“Come on, Cor. You never let me have any fun!” I whined.

Cora groaned.

“Whatever little sis.” She sighed, buckling me into the passenger seat of her car and getting in and starting to drive home.

“And I swear I saw Zack in there,” I told her.

She slammed on her brakes, causing the person behind us to honk their horn.

“What?” she asked.

“But it coulda been someone else,” I said, passing out.
