The Good Life

“Un fuck, Lex, don’t stop.” I cried out. He sped up his pace, thrusting in and out of me harder.

“I’m too close to stop.” Alex moaned.

I grabbed his neck and pulled him down to kiss me as I came. I moaned into his mouth and felt him come inside of me not long after. We laid there in silence trying to catch our breath after that intense moment.

“Thank God Izzy’s room is up stairs so she won’t hear how much of a slut her father is.” Alex jokingly said as he rolled over to face me.

“Shut the fuck up.” I giggled and kissed him.

“Mmm I’m never going to get over how good you feel around me.” He said seductively.

“Stoooop! I don’t think I take a round two.” I whined.

“Yeah me either since we have to wake up early for the wedding.” He sighed. “How long do weddings usually last because I don’t think Izzy and I can sit still for more than two hours tomorrow?” he asked.

“It won’t be longer than an hour, but the reception afterwards will last almost all night.” I answered.

“Oh that’s not bad! And we’ll be able to eat and drink all we want so I don’t mind the reception.” He smiled of course only thinking about the food part.

“Is food the only thing you ever think about?” I laughed.

“Pretty much.”

“You are so annoying. Go to bed!”

I woke up with a shooting pain through the lower half of my body, Alex was defiantly too rough last night. I set my alarm clock to go off at 9am so we would have a few hours to get ready for the wedding. It started at 1pm, but we had to be there earlier because Izzy was the flower girl and Alex was the best man. I’m used to waking up earlier than this on days I had to go to my office, but Alex acted like it was going to kill him to move from the bed.

“Alex get up and go shower.” I scolded at him for the second time this morning. The first time he just whined and rolled over on to his stomach. This time he didn’t move he just laid there snoring.

“Alexander!” I yelled, but he still didn’t respond. “I’m going to bring Izzy down here and when I get back you better be getting in the shower.”

I went to Izzy’s room and picked her up from her bed, just like her father she was still asleep. When I walked back into our bedroom Alex had rolled over on his back, but he was still snoring. I laid Izzy on his stomach and immediately his arm went around her. I guess I can let them sleep for twenty more minutes.

After their time was up I tried waking Alex up again. This time he didn’t fight me, he got up and laid Izzy down comfortably in our bed as he went to the shower. He grumbled a few choice words at me as he went, but he was up nonetheless. Izzy woke up while he was in the shower so I turned on Blue’s Clues while we waited on her Alex to finish up.

“Can you tell me again why we have to get up this early?” Alex mumbled as he walked out of the bathroom.

“Because it’s going to take us forever to get ready and to get Izzy ready. Plus you get up earlier than this for work.” I rolled my eyes at him.

“Yeah but today is a weekend. They’re for sleeping in.” He yawned.

“Not on your best friend’s wedding day.” I told him and he rolled his eyes at me.

“Izzy are you ready to take a bath?” I asked my princess. She didn’t take her eyes off the TV it was like she didn’t hear me.

“She’s hypnotized by the TV, she isn’t going anywhere.” Alex chuckled.

“Why did you two choose this day to be difficult?” I whined.

I went to run Izzy’s bath water and prepare my ears for her cries, screams, and protest.

The Next Day

The wedding was beautiful, Cass looked gorgeous in her wedding dress and Rian looked handsome in his tux. They both looked like they’ve never been more in love and happy to be together. Izzy also did great as the flower girl. She was kind of shy and nervous about walking out with all those eyes on her so she ran out a little faster than she was supposed to, but she still threw the flowers out. I sat with Oli and Hannah which was okay except for Hannah’s crying the entire wedding.
We ate grilled chicken and different sides during the reception which was delicious. The five layer cake was also delicious and looked beautiful. I think everyone had a good time; we all danced and sung together, alcohol probably played a major role in that, but it was so much fun. I would be happy if Alex and I’s wedding was half as fun.

Rian and Cass were going on their honeymoon to Paris today so the reception had to end a little early so they could catch their flight early this morning, which was also good because some people had to go to work today, like Alex. This week was his last week teaching before his students went on winter break, which meant his birthday was coming up and I have no idea what to get him. I hate that his birthday is so close to Christmas cause it’s already so hard trying to find at least one gift to buy him.

I decided to get off the couch and stop thinking so hard. I was going to take Izzy over to the Fuentes house. Vic only went to school half a day so he and Vicki were at home right now. I picked Izzy up and changed her from her pajamas into real clothes and we made out journey to across the street.

I rung the door bell and a few seconds later Vicki came and opened the door. She didn’t look like herself though. She was wearing sweat pants and her hair was undone and messy, she also looked like she had just been crying. I immediately felt bad for coming over uninvited.

“Oh Jack! What a nice surprise.” She gave a faux smile and wiped at her eyes.

“Vicki, what happened?” I asked her.

She moved to the side signaling me to come inside. I sat Izzy down and followed Vicki into the living room. There were moving boxes covering the floor and the living room had been stripped of all the decorations that used to be in there. I looked to Vicki for an explanation, but all she said was:
“Vic is upstairs in his play room if you want to take Izzy to go play with him.”

“Okay.” I mumbled and I took Izzy to climb the stairs. As I passed all the rooms I saw boxes leaning against the walls and the rooms were almost bare. Why would they be moving out?

Vic was playing with his Legos when Izzy and I walked in. “Hi Vic! You don’t mind if Izzy comes in to play with you do you?” I asked him.

“No." He shook his head. "HI Izzy!” He smiled.

“Hi Vic.” She said shyly. She was going to get comfortable with him in a matter of seconds. I said a quick bye and quickly went back down stairs to talk to Vicki.

Vicki was sitting on the couch staring at her hands when I finally made it back down. I didn’t want to pressure her into telling me anything she didn’t feel comfortable with telling me I just wanted to make sure everything was okay. I went to sit down next to her and I sat my hand on her thigh to let her know I was ready to listen when she was ready to talk. We sat in silence for a few minutes and then she finally spoke.

“He’s been cheating on me.” She whispered. I would have missed what she said if it wasn’t so dead silent.

“Oh god really?!? How?...What?...Did you catch him?’ I was speaking faster than my mind was going.

“I saw his emails to her…one of his co-workers.” She was still talking low and I could see the tears welling up in her eyes again. I was curious about what the emails said, but I would never in a million years ask her that.

“I’m so sorry, Vicki.” I said and she nodded her head. “So you’re moving out or is he?”

“Well after I talked to him about it I was ready to ask for a divorce, but he begged me not to leave him and I…I couldn’t do it. I told him he was going to have get a new job to get away from her. He agreed of course, but his company’s other office is in San Francisco. So we have to move there.” She said. I immediately felt my heart drop into my stomach. I wanted to tell her that she deserved better than this then him, but it wasn’t my place to. It was only okay when it came to May because she was my family.

“That so far away. I mean I know it’s in California, but it’s still so far away.” I whined.

“I know, it’s eight hours away.”

“When are you moving away?” I asked.

“Before Christmas. It won’t really feel like Christmas to me anyways so I don’t mind unpacking around that time.” She was so depressed.

“I really wish you all didn’t have to go.”

“Me too, but this is for the best. It’ll give us a fresh new start and the boys aren’t that old so they’ll make new friends.”

“Yeah.” I agreed reluctantly. “…Well if you need help with anything, Vicki, don’t hesitate to ask me.”
“Thanks Jack. I’m going to miss you and Alex a lot and I know the boys are going to miss you guys and Izzy too. Maybe we’ll come back to San Diego one day.”

I reached over to hug her and she broke down more on my shoulder. I didn’t mover or say anything, I just let her get it all out. Like always Izzy and I stayed over until it was time for Alex to get off from work. I didn’t want to leave Vicki, but she had to go pick up Mike from school in a few minutes.

“We’ll come over more this week so we can spend time with you guys before you go.” I told Vicki as we walked to the door about to leave.

“Okay I’ll look forward to seeing you both again.” She said.

“Say bye-bye, Izzy.” I told Izzy.

“Bye-bye!” She waved and I picked her up so we could cross the street.

Alex was pulling into the garage as we were walking so we all walked into the house together.

“Daddy!” Izzy yelled and shimmed her way out of my arms to go run to Alex.

“Hi Mamas!” He said and kissed her cheek. He then pulled me over so he could give me a kiss too.
“How was work?” I asked.

“Eh my students just did reviewing for finals today so it was pretty boring. What about yours?”
“We went to hang out with Vicki and Vic.” Was all I said.

“It sounds like there’s more to that story?” He questioned. I don’t know how he can tell when I’m withholding information from him, it’s actually pretty scary.

“There kind of is.” I mumbled. We walked into our bedroom and sat on our bed with Izzy in between us. He looked at me telling me to continue with the story. “They’re moving to San Francisco.”

“What? Why?”

“Vicki found out Emilio was cheating on her so she thought it would be best if they moved away to start over away from that girl. So Emilio is transferring to his company there.” I told him.

“…Emilio cheated…on Vicki?” He still trying to process that part. I nodded my head. “That asshole! How could he do that to her?”

“I don’t know. And now that I think about it a while back she told me he was acting strange, but we both just brushed it off.”

“I hope everything goes well for them. Especially with Mike and Vic because problems like this can have horrible effects on children too.” Alex said. I think he was speaking from experience of his family having problems when he was younger.

“Yeah me too.” I agreed.

“And now we’re going to have to find Izzy more friends.” Alex complained.

“She has Kellin” I said.

“…Maybe we should put her in day care?” He asked.

“NO! Never! Don’t you hear about all those kids that are abused or get left in buses at day cares?” I panicked.

“Baby that’s only happen to one or two places. I think you just don’t want to be away from Izzy for too long.” He chuckled.

“It’s not that. I just don’t want to take a chance with those. She’ll be in school in two years and she’ll meet other children then.” I said. He was kind of right. I wouldn’t know what to do without Izzy all day long. I don’t even remember what I did before she was born.

“I guess so.” He sighed. “Parenting is hard.”

Sorry if you wanted a full wedding scene I attempted to write it but it seemed pretty boring to me so I decided to skip over it. I'm finally back on track with what was originally supposed to happen in the story. The Fuentes are moving away, but don't worry they might be back in a few years! Also I think I only have a few more chapters left for this story. I don't want it to end because it's been a whole year and I don't think my heart will be able to take it, but it has too end. I think I'm going to do one or two more chapters and then skip a few years and do like ten more before it ends. So maybe twelve more chapters :(
