Running From Lions

Chapter 5.

I could hear voices, where am I? Why is it so dark? Why am I so out of it?

“This is it?”
“Mmhm.”
“I was expecting....more.”

What the fuck are they talking about? Who ARE they?
“Is he awake?”
“I don't know, looks like it.”
“Isn't he on some pain meds?”
“Yeah,”
“Maybe he's just really doped up then.”
“I should kick him, that will wake him up.”

Opening my eyes, I saw blurred figures hovering over me. Blinking a few times, they cleared slightly but then my head started to hurt. Why was everything so fuzzy? Why did I feel so groggy. Then again, I haven't really slept in a couple days and the monster keeping me hostage has yet to even bother offering me food. Closing his eyes, I took a deep breath and opened then again. Oh, now I knew what I was looking at.

“Go away, asshole.” I muttered, rolling away. I didn't want to deal with this, I just wanted to sleep off all this crappy feeling.
“Wow, he's mouthy.” A new voice said and I was tempted to turn around and see them. Then I decided it wasn't important enough, probably.
“Yeah,” I felt a hard shove, shaking not only me but the cheap cot I was using as a bed. “Get up.”
“Piss off.” I grumbled.

Of course, that didn't work. I felt someone's hand rip off the blanket I had before I was dragged off the bed by my hair. Yelping, I piced myself up off the ground enough to find myself kneeling before the two hybrids in my 'room.' How insulting, I thought before noticing something in the corner of my eye. Glancing over, I saw someone in the doorway...and not just any someone, a human. Another human. I looked back at Alex and his friend, finding the friend looking me over like a new toy.

“Well, Alex.” The stranger said, and I did not like his tone, “I think I can definitely help you out with this...thing.”
“Great, another fuck.” I mutter, new guy glared at me.
“I would show some respect to your owner's friends.”
“Bite me.”

New guy looked to Alex, raising a brow. Smiling, he only gave a small nod to his friend before he gave me a swift kick in the gut. Groaning, I grabbed my stomach before falling over onto my side. Fucking assholes.

“Welcome to boot camp,” The new hybrid laughed, “I'm Pete.”
“What was that I said earlier?” Alex mused, “Oh yeah, welcome to hell, brat.”

My life just got worse....
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Pete stayed around the house for about a week, it really was like boot camp. Only, I didn't learn much besides how to use certain things to clean and how to use an oven. I mostly got hurt, a lot. The person learning anything was Alex, and now he was master in the art of making me miserable.

I was currently sitting on the floor, next to the person I've come to know as Patrick. He belongs to Pete, and given what I've seen so far, I could tell why he has yet to speak a word. Pete was... well, not just strict, but fucking brutal.

And Alex was just like him.

I've heard horror stories from my parents when I was younger, but I didn't imagine they were as bad as they said till now. Now that I was living it. I was black and blue nearly everywhere but my face, granted some of it is my fault, given my inability to keep my smart mouth shut. But now, I could hear them discussing about devices and toys to keep me in line. I was told to sit here and not move, too tired to put up much resistance I did as told. However, it wasn't keeping me from eavesdropping.

“So, I put these on the corner of the windows?” Alex's voice rang through from the other room.
“Yup, and the doors.” Pete would say. “I already set up the alarm for you, and got a pager on the way in case you're not home. But, these, plus the collar, there's no possible way for him to get outside.”
“I can't believe they make things like this, I feel so out of the loop.”

Alarms? Sensors? Collar? Fuck I was so screwed.

“I feel like a proud father.” Pete said dramatically. “I think you'll do fine, but call if you have any trouble.”
“I will, I will.” Alex said, “ I think I'll be able to put him in place though. I mean, it seems to be working already, we haven't heard a peep out of him.”
“Don't get cocky, Gaskarth. That one's a fighter.”

Damn right I am. Put me in place? Yeah right, I'm just...kinda tired today.”

“Yeah yeah, you heading off tonight then?”
“Yup.”

I could hear them walking, I looked over at Patrick, finding him looking down and looking pale. Looks like someone doesn't want to go home. The footsteps got louder and I looked back over in time to see both hybrids step into the room. Pete was looking proud of himself while Alex's smile turned into a frown the moment his eyes landed on me. I glared back at him before noticing something in his hand, it looked like a big ring, made of black metal.

“Patrick, up. We're leaving.” Pete commanded, and immediately the human next to me was on his feet and obediently following his master. Alex waved to them as they went, and the second I heard the door closed, I shook my head.
“That poor kid is going to end up dead from him.”
“Shut up,” Alex snapped.
“Well, he is.” I said. “How can you think that's okay?”
“I doubt he'd do anything to set Pete off like that, since he's obedient, you however are lucky to not have more bones broken.”
“You probably haven't broken any cause you know Zack would kill you.” I argued back, and that earned me one hell of a death glare
“What the fuck did I say about mentioning him?” Alex demanded, I rolled my eyes. Last time he threatened to break my other arm, I brought up his friend, though I don't think they should count as friends anymore.
“I don't know, I wasn't listening.” I answered, a sarcastic bite in my tone.

Alex snarled, and was in front of me almost instantly and picked me up by my shirt front. I winced slightly, expecting to get hit, but he just growled.

“You better start,” He seethed. “Cause as of now, any disobedience is going to have consequences and repeated acts will only cause them to get more severe.”

Swallowing a bit, I kept my eyes hard, refusing to back down.
“Good luck breaking me.” I smirked, Alex growled before promptly throwing me to the ground and back a couple feet. Groaning, I sat back up, using my good arm to hold up my body.
“You sassy little shit,” He muttered. “Whatever, come here.”
“You threw me over here!” I complained, already feeling the ache settle into my back.
“Yeah, and now I'm making you fucking walk over here!”
“Dick.”
“You have three seconds.” He threatened, making me roll my eyes. “Three....”
“Ohh, counting, I'm so scared.”
“Two...” His voice lower as he began walking towards me.
“You're already mo-”
“One.” He practically barked.

I was about to say something else when there was nothing but black in my vision and pain taking over my face. He kicked me straight in the jaw, gasping I opened my eyes again finding myself on my back. Before I could even hope to recover, Alex stomped his foot onto my chest, holding me down and crushing my lungs.

“Consequences.” He reminded me, keeping his foot in place.

I grabbed at his leg, trying to tug it off with no avail. Alex laughed, a sinister smile on his face as he pressed down harder making me choke on the lack of air getting into my lungs. Why is he like this. I could feel myself starting to suffocate from lack of oxygen before he finally let up. Gasping, I coughed a bit as I finally breathed in some air. Once I was somewhat recovered, Alex cleared his throat making me give him my attention.

“Stand up.” He commanded. Clenching my fists, I was tempted to disobey him again, but figured I didn't want to get any more injuries today. Slowly rising to my feet, I stared at him with a cold glare, waiting for whatever it is that he wanted. Seeing my compliance, he gave a sickly sweet smile and praised me. “Good boy.”

I didn't say anything, setting my jaw and keeping my mouth shut.

“Anyway,” He mused, “I have something for you. Now just hold still.”

He held up the metal ring thing, swinging it lightly as if to make sure I saw it before digging into his pocket with his free hand and digging out a key. He undid the ring, making it snap open before stepping closer to me. Realizing he was about to put the thing on me, I shoved his hand away and backed up.

“Hell no, you are not collaring me.”
“Like you have a choice,” Alex rolled his eyes, “Now we can do this the hard way or the easy way.”
“I choose the so not happening way.”
“Too bad.”

With that, he pounced. I barely got out of the way for him to miss tackling me to the ground and ran out of the room. He was definitely right behind me, but after being here for awhile, I knew the house better. I quickly turned a corner that lead to one of the many halls and nearly fell over as I skidded to a stop by a bathroom. I had just enough time to dart in, shut the door and lock it before I heard Alex slamming against it.

“Get out here!” He screamed, banging on the wood.
“Fuck you!”
“You wanna hide in the bathroom? Fine!” He snarled. “Just know the second you come out of there, I'm not only putting this on you, I'm kicking your ass!”
“I'd rather die in here.” I called back.
“Doubtful.” He challenged.

I heard him walk away and sunk to the floor. Looking around, I whined when I saw that this room has no windows. So much for escaping through here. I guess I could try waiting him out...
