Unexpected

Mackenzie's POV

It was Thanksgiving and as usual we go, to the Gaskarth’s to celebrate Thanksgiving together. I was always excited for the dinner. We would always have lots of food and we always celebrate with lots of hugs, which sometimes gets weird.

Dad and I were starving! We baked some chocolate chip cookies and an apple pie for snacks and dessert this evening. Dad always makes them semi-sweet and they tasted very good. Mr. Barakat and Colin always make their famous guacamole that went with the chips. I was very looking forward for that FUCKING GOOD GUACAMOLE!

We were right outside the Gaskarth’s door. When the door opened, Aunt Lisa gave a huge smile and immediately hugged the both of us very tightly. It was a nice hug. She smelled great!

We went in and there were more hugs! Mr. Gaskarth was first, then Sebastian, Colin, and Mr. Barakat. I liked hugs and I was feeling very jolly, so I was smiling. We were waiting for the Dawsons, so Colin and I went to the kitchen.

“How's the guacamole?” I asked feeling very excited.

“Great! And by the way, I asked my dad to make one special extra Tupperware for you and your dad. I know how much you like to crave these, especially during your period.” Colin said while taking out the Tupperware, smiling.

“Colin, thank you so much. I mean it! Thank you! “ I hugged Colin.

“My pleasure.” He smiled very sweetly.

We took the guacamole and chips to the couch where everyone was.

“Ayy, guacamole!” Mr. Gaskarth shouted when we were making our way to the couch.

“Guacamole!” Everyone cheered all together.

Everyone was eating guacamole and cookies while waiting and not long after, the doorbell rang. I opened the door and saw Graham bringing the vegetables. He smiled and put the dish on the table and we hugged like best friends do. We all shared more hugs and since everyone was here, it was time to eat!

It was like a buffet. Everyone had their plates on their hands and just taking everything they wanted to eat. We were all very lighthearted, smiling, and laughing. It seemed like everyone was having a very good time. There was a big turkey, a mix of vegetables, guacamole and chips, gravy, mashed potatoes, an apple pie, and cookies. This would be a great dinner.

After we arrived, everyone was just hugging us. I loved spending Thanksgiving with them. We were all always very hungry, but even so, we enjoyed our time together. Everyone was very joyous and that made me even happier.

We were in a line, trying to get our food. I was looking forward for everything! We have very good cooks right over here. I love Jack’s guacamole, Lisa and Alex’s roasted turkey with gravy and mashed potatoes, Cass’ vegetables, and Zack’s baked goods.

Right in front of me was the one and only little Kenzie. Ever since we promised Alex on keeping it cool with “them”, I can’t really act cool anymore. I get awkward. Thank you so much Alex. I tried to avoid much conversation, but I rarely see these children, so I decided to just talk to Kenzie. Who knows, I could not be awkward this time.

“Hey Kenzie!”

“Hey Mr. Dawson!”

“How are you? You’re so grown up. I still remember you as the little girl who would let her dad tie her hair into pigtails.” The both of us smiled

“I’m fine.” She smiled. She looks so grown up nowadays. “What about you?”

“Same old.” I shook my head slightly, smiling. “So Kenzie, have you met any lovely guys? Are you one of those sexually active kids?” God dammit Rian!

“Uhm, no.” She looked so embarrassed.

“Oh no, is he acting weird again? Just ignore him.” Jack put his arms around my shoulder.

“I’m sorry, I’ve been really awkward with teenagers lately. I really am sorry.” I rubbed by neck.

“It’s okay.” She smiled and hugged me for a while. I was so awkward. Thank God Jack saved my life. “And Mr. Barakat, thank you so much for the extra guacamole you decided to make for dad and I. I appreciate it a lot.”

“No worries, Kenzie.” He patted Kenzie’s shoulder. “And if you need any, you could always visit us, Barakats. The Merricks are always welcomed. Besides, Colin loves being around you. Sometimes you’re all he talks about.” Jack says looking at Colin who was already eating with Sebastian and Graham.

“Yeah sure Mr. Barakat. Thank you.” She blushed. It was only Jack, Kenzie, and I on the line and we started talking more. I’m glad the awkwardness was fading away. Then after a while, I realized that SHE BLUSHED!

So, I'm going back to school, but I will still update weekly. The story might be ending soon enough and I wish that you would stay with me and enjoy rest of the story. :)
