Bucket list

Alex sat in the doctors waiting room, fearing the worst. The doctor had politely asked him to leave his wife Erin so they could speak in private which immediately worried Alex. He had received the phone call this morning telling him Erin's tests were complete and she needed to see the doctor right away but Alex had been hoping for good news.
'It could be anything.' He thought, 'Just because she found a lump it doesn't mean..'

He didn't have time to process his thoughts as Erin walked out of the doctors office, looking paler than she had ever looked before. She was followed by her doctor, who looked pained himself, refusing to meet Alex's desperate eye contact. Erin walked over, seeming dazed and confused herself before her slightly red eyes met his and she opened her mouth to speak.

'It's cancer baby. And it's too late to stop it.'
