I got off the phone and turned around towards Bradley. "What the hell, Bradley? Why would you tell him?"
"I- I was worried about you," Bradley stuttered.
"So fucking tell me that! Don't call him! If I thought it was getting too serious, I would call him myself!"
"No you wouldn't!" Bradley shouted back. "You wouldn't call him! You have too much pride to do that, you don't want other people to see you hurt."
"Of course I don't! I wanted him to still think I was doing well! After all he did to help me that night at the hospital, the least I can do is pretend to be fine, whether I am or not." I shouted, and then quieter, "He'll give up on me if he thinks I'll just keep lapsing back into this state."
"No he won't. I didn't even meet him and I know he won't. No one's gonna give up on you Bridget. You just have to tell us; you can't just hold it all in and not let anyone help you."
"Whatever. Let's go, like you said, we have to get as far away from her as we can."
My phone vibrates, it's from my sister Riley.
Dad called the cops, I told him that you guys went across the lake. Im so sorry,he threatened all of us if we didnt tell where u went.
"Great," I said out loud.
"What?" Bradley asked.
"Riley told Dad where we were going."
"Why?" Bradley asked, suddenly alarmed.
"Aparently he threatened them with something."
Bradley's face suddenly went pale. "What? Are you okay?" I asked.
Bradley swallowed. "If they know where we were going, and they send the police out here, they're gonna find the body and think we did it."
I instantly felt sick. "Shit. Run."
And we did. We ran and ran for hours.
