Wishes on a broken stereo
See what time will do for hopeless dreamers
It had been a month since that night in the car with Alex. Blake came home. He's still in bad shape; he doesn't remember anything from the concert. I filled him in on everything, leaving out the bad parts. I also added a couple of parts that didn't technically happen, for instance, I told him that he got to meet the band, which he seemed pretty happy about. I'm doing better now.
I'm sitting in my room listening to music when Bradley walks in. "Hey." I say softly.
"Hey! So I heard a lucky someone got to go see All Time Low!" I looked up, startled by his cheery tone. He seemed different. He still looks the same, but his vibe has changed, I guess. "Yeah, I got to meet them all too!" I filled him in on everything, excluding the self harming and talking to Alex in the car.
"That is so awesome!"
I pick up my book "Looking for Alaska". "What's got you in such a good mood?"
"What are you talking about? I'm always like this."
I snorted. "Sure you are, Bradley." A silence goes by, but it wasn't awkard. After a couple minutes, Bradley blurted out, "I broke up with my girlfriend."
I put my book down. "What? Why?"
"Well, if you'll believe it, her musical tastes suck."
I gasp in mock surprise. "What? BOTDF sucks? Why didn't anyone tell me?"
He smirked, "Oh, shut up, Bridgette Cassadee."
"Whatever you say, Bradford Alexander."
"I gotta go home and eat lunch."
"'Kay."
"B, I..."
"Yeah?" I ask.
"I-nothing, see ya in a few."
"Alrighty," I say as he lets himself out. I smile to myself. Maybe things are going back to normal.
But of course, they aren't.
