All My Life I've Been Searching For Something

"Are you comfy enough?" Zack asked, kissing my hair gently.

"Mhmm, thanks" I murmured sleepily. We were lay in his bed, me under the covers because I was cold, him on top of them because he was hot. I was wearing just my boxers and one of his hoodies and Zack was wearing just his sweats. I was tired after our little session and Zack said his mum wouldn't mind if I stayed for a while, even overnight, so I could sleep if I wanted to. His arm was wrapped around me, pulling me close to him, his nose touching my neck as he cuddled me.

"So..what are we?" I asked hesitantly.

"I'm not sure, I mean, I had fun, lots of fun, and I want to do it again, definitely, but..I..there weren't really any butterflies or a spark or anything, I'm sorry"

"No, no, I felt the same! I didn't feel butterflies either but..I think..if I'm going to be experimenting with anyone, I'd like it to be you"

"So...friends with benefits?"

"Friends with benefits" I agreed before yawning. Zack kissed just under my ear then whispered, "go to sleep, baby". I nodded and snuggled down, letting myself fall asleep.

When I woke up, Zack was gone but I heard voices from downstairs so I guessed his mum was home. I pulled on a pair of zacks sweats then went downstairs to say hi.

"Alex, sweetie! Good to see you!"

"Yeah, you too, mrs Merrick" I yawned.

"Are you okay?"

"Uhh..I'm not feeling too good actually"

"Oh no, sit down, sweetie, I'll make you some soup, alright?" She patted my cheek affectionately as she walked past me, making her way to the kitchen. I joined Zack on the settee where he called me from, curled up in his arms, my head against his chest.

"So how're you really feeling?"

"Wasn't a lie" I murmured, closing my eyes. He kissed my forehead softly.

"Do you think you're going to be in school tomorrow?"

"Mm..I dunno..I'll call you later if I get worse"

"Okay" he murmured.

When I got home later on that night after sleeping in zacks arms for a while then eating some of the soup that mrs Merrick made for me, I simply collapsed on my bed and fell asleep. When I woke up at 2am, I felt 10 times worse than I did before so I rang Zack to see if he was still awake. He answered the phone almost instantly.

"Hey"

"Hey, baby, are you okay?"

"No..I feel terrible...I don't think I'll be in tomorrow"

"Okay. I hope you feel better soon anyway"

"Thanks..why're you up anyway?"

"Waiting for you to call. Now go to sleep, baby, you need to rest"

"You didn't have to do that"

"I know. But I wanted to. Just get some sleep, okay?"

"Mhmm, okay"

"Goodnight, baby"

"Goodnight" I said whilst yawning, hearing Zack chuckle slightly before hanging up.
