I heard footsteps coming up behind me and I smiled. A pair of arms curled around my waist. "I thought I told you to stay upstairs" "What?" Zack said. "Zack? W-what are you doing here?" "I came to see if you were okay. I thought you were sick again. Who's upstairs?" "I-nobody-I just..you should go" he spun me round and pinned me against the worktop. "Why? Don't you wanna do something? I mean, I'm here now, it'd be a shame to waste the time" he grinded his hips down and I struggled to get out of his grip. "Zack, no, I'm asking you to leave, please" "Why? There is somebody upstairs, isn't there?!" "Zack, no!" I shouted as he let go of me, running off quickly. I ran after him, getting to my bedroom at the same time as I heard Zack punch Jack in the face, ricocheting his head off the wall. "Zack! Stop it!" I screamed, hearing a strangled choke from Jack. "Why?! Why should I, Alex?! You're fucking obviously cheating on me with this fucking prick, why shouldn't I beat the shit out of him?!" "Because I'm asking you not to! Please" "I thought we had something! I don't understand why you've betrayed me like this, was I not good enough for you?" "Please just let him go! We said no feelings, it was just for fun. Please, zee, you're my best friend. Please just let him go, let us be together" I begged him, tears rolling down my face as my heart beat ridiculously fast. There was a noise like something being dropped onto the floor, followed by a loud gasp from Jack. "Fine. But only because its what you want" "I also want you to leave" I said calmly, although my hands were shaking. He sighed then walked past me. As soon as he'd left the room, I ran over to Jack and pulled him into my arms, bursting into tears, crying into the crook of his neck as he breathed heavily. "Are you okay?! Did he hurt you too bad?" "No, baby, I'll be okay" "What did he do to you?" "Punched me a few times and then held me up against the wall by my throat. Fuck that was scary" he hugged me tighter and I could feel him shaking too. "Are you crying?" I asked him a minute later. He sniffed and let out a nervous laugh. "Sorry" "No, its okay, I am too. I thought he was going to kill you" "Me too. Shit, I think I'm bleeding" "Fuck..um..okay c'mon, sit back on my bed" I helped him stand up, guiding him back to my bed and making sure he was comfy before going getting some tissues from the bathroom. I took them back into him and straddled him as I held them against the cuts on his cheek. "Do you want any ice?" "Uh..yeah, please, baby" "Okay. Just hold this here a minute" I moved his hand to his cheek then went and grabbed a bag of pea's from the freezer. "Lie down" I instructed him. He did what I said and I gently laid the bag of peas over his eye and cheek. "Did he hit you anywhere other than your face?" "Nope" "Okay, good" I sighed before lying down next to him, cuddling up to his side. "Thanks for looking after me, lex" "Anytime. Its only what a good boyfriend should do" "Boyfriend?" "Mhmm. We're official now, I just decided" "Well okay" "Fuck I really thought he was going to kill you back then..I didn't think he was going to let you go" I hid my face in his chest and Jack stroked my hair gently. "Shhh..its alright, I'm okay. We're both okay. Wait did he hurt you?" "No..not physically" "Oh baby" "I thought he was my friend! He's supposed to be my best friend! How could he do that?" "I don't know..I think he liked you a lot more than you liked him" "We said it was no feelings! He even said after our first kiss that he didn't feel a spark and I agreed with him" "Maybe he just said that because he knew you'd agree. He might have been hoping that you'd find a spark. Or maybe he wasn't lying but then he fell for you, I mean, you are pretty irresistible" he nuzzled my hair and I giggled. "Thanks..I'm scared though, what if he does something else?" "He won't. And if he does, I'll protect you" "You're cute" "I try" he yawned and snuggled down more, tucking my head under his chin. "Are you tired?" "Mm, being strangled kinda takes it outta ya" "Go to sleep" "Only if you stay here with me"
