A Casual Affair

Things were silent through most of the dinner at Jack’s. Although, the skunk-haired man was the one mostly making jokes to keep conversations going that usually died down after a while. Holly remained quiet, except laughing a few of Jack’s remarks, and casually spun spaghetti on her fork while sitting next to Alex.

When they all finished, Alex stood up and did the gentleman routine: he took everyone’s plates with a smile. “You’re still one kind fucker, Lex.” Jack commented, making Holly laugh.

Rian casually threw his arm around Cassadee, and turned to where Holly was sitting at the table. “So, Holly, you never told us how you and Alex met?” He grinned with his huge, white teeth.

“Oh,” she chuckled. “We―uh―we met through school and such.”

“That’s so cute!” Cass giggled. “So was he around where you went to college or did you meet each other near there?”

Should I tell them? Would they understand? Her mind boggled with questions. Let’s see … I could tell them like―

“Well, he was my music teacher at my high school.”

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?! Her conscious shrieked. DID YOU REALLY JUST THINK OUT LOUD?!

She didn’t know what in the world made her say that. That was supposed to be in her head, and she just made herself look like a total idiot by speaking her mind out loud! Maybe it was her mind tricking her and thinking that these people would understand? She couldn’t take it back. She knew she messed up. Big time. And she knew this by the silence of the room.

Jack and Rian’s mouths remained dropped, while Cass’ eyes stayed wide. The only sound to finally be made was when Alex dropped the plate in his hands into the sink in shock.

Holly bit the inside of her cheek as she stood from her seat. “Excuse me,” she muttered, before bolting out of the room.

Holly hugged her knees to her chest when someone knocked on the bedroom door. She hoped it wasn’t Alex, but still reluctantly said, “Come in.”

Luckily, Cassadee walked through the door and softly closed it. “How are you, Holly?” She asked as she padded over to the girl on the bed.

“I don’t know why I said that.” Holly groaned and put her head on her knees. “You all must think Alex is a pedophile and I’m―”

“Personally, I expected something fishy going on from the start. You looked relatively young from the first time I saw you.” Cassadee admitted. “Do you want to talk about it?”

Holly finally made eye contact with the brunette. “You wouldn’t believe this story.”

Cassadee raised a brow. “Try me.”

“Well,” the blonde huffed, “It all started when I was with my ex-boyfriend and my best friend told me our original music teacher was fired …”

Alex put his hands out. “Guys, just let me explain this.”

The three men were now seated on Jack’s long and expensive leather couch as Alex ran his hands through his hair. “Dude,” Jack laughed a little, “I think your student already explained it all.”

“She isn’t my student anymore!” Alex’s eyes were frantic, almost scaring the two friends. “She … Well, we ran away together, and that’s why I needed somewhere to stay.”

“This is so fucked up …” Rian dropped his head and sighed.

“Hear me out, please.” He begged, and after a moment, the others nodded. “We didn’t mean for this to happen. It just did. I just became so infatuated with her and we couldn’t stop it. We tried, trust me. And then her psycho ex almost tried killing me and ratting us out to the school, but she talked to his mother who is on the board and handled it. Although I can’t work there anymore, the police don’t know about it, and we decided the only way to rid ourselves of the history is to run away.”

Rian pinched the bridge of his nose. “How do you know her family or friends won’t come after her?”

“She said she ran away from home before, and everyone will think it’s something like that. Plus, if anything happens, she said she has it covered.” Alex let out a breath of relief. “So what do you think?”

Jack rubbed the back of his neck. “I think you’re in a little over your head, man.”

“Yeah,” Rian agreed. “What in that god damn crazy head of yours thought it was good idea to start dating one of your students?”

“You both don’t understand.” Alex scowled. “I love her, and I’m willing to do anything to keep us together.”

After a minute, Jack sighed, but still with a smile on his face. “Fine.”

“Fine?” Rian and Alex chorused.

“You were one of my best friends through college, Lex. And you still are one of my best friends in general.” Jack then shrugged. “I admit, you’re really fucking crazy for doing this, but I’ll support you no matter what.”

Alex grinned big. “Thanks, Ja―”

“But there’s one rule.” The skunk-haired man pointed a finger. “No angry parents better be showing up at my house.”

“Done.”

I'm sorry for updating so late with all of my stories! I just have so many exams and then college visits and I'm also interviewing for my first job; all of it is so stressful >n<<br> But I hope this chapter makes up for it! They all know now ooooooohhhhhhh :O
