The City Comes Alive When We're Together
Fault

I start walking from the nurses office to my first class of the day. I walk in slowly, and the teacher looks at me.
"You're late, Jack." She says to me. "Any specific reason?"
"Yes, ma'am. I had to take a friend of mine to the nurse cause I saw her getting beat up by someone." I started to tear up at the idea that she was going to let him do this to her. There has to be more. She can't possibly be vulnerable for no reason.
"Oh my Gosh, is she ok?" My teacher asks me in a huge concern.
"Yes, she is. Thank you." I say softly. I then sit down next to Alex, Zack and Rian. We somehow got all of our classes together, which is a huge advantage for me in situations like this when I really need someone to talk to.
"So, who got beat up?" Alex asks me worried as he sees me upset. I sat quiet for a couple minutes trying to hold back tears.
"Megan." I choke under the tears I'm holding back.
"Oh my God, do you know what happened?" Rian asks me in a serious tone.
"Not really, I just happened to turn down the hall where Megan and Doomerz were fighting and saw him slap her on the mouth. She was holding her stomach as he kept hitting her, and I saw her crying. He was about to punch her in the jaw and I got involved." I feel a couple tears fall from my eyes.
"You're ok right?" Zack asks me concerned.
"Well, he didn't hit me at all if that's what you're asking." I tell them still crying. "But, I really wish I had gotten there sooner to stop him before she got hurt. I feel horrible."
"You shouldn't, Jack. There was nothing you could've done different. It's not your fault. Doomerz is the only one at fault here." Alex says putting his hand on my arm trying to make me feel better. "You really do care about her, do you?"
"Yes, I do. More than I have for any other girl." I explain. "It just doesn't make sense. I just met her yesterday, and already I feel like I could be with her. It's crazy I know, but it just feels right."
"Well, if things are meant to be, you will get her Jack." Rian adds. "I'm sure if anything, she's got a special place in her heart for you after everything you've done for her this last couple of days." I sure hope he's right. We went on and kept talking about other things but all I can think about is Megan. I really hope she's doing ok.
