The City Comes Alive When We're Together

After getting some sleep during our last night in the hospital, it is time for us to go home and back to our normal lives. After we check out from the hospital, we head out to our car and as soon as we get to it, Jack puts Amy in her new car seat. As soon as we get home, we walk in and head straight for the living room to just take a minute to relax.
"So, how do you feel?" Jack asks me.
"Perfect, this is the moment I've been waiting for." I answer. "And I've been waiting for way too long." Just then a small cry comes from Amy in her carseat. I start to take her out and realize that sometimes the most awkward moment for new parents is now in my hands. Being used to taking care of children through school, I change her diaper with ease.
"Wow, you seem like an expert already." Jack laughs. "I might leave you to it all."
"Funny." I respond sarcastically. "Just because I have babysitting experience doesn't mean you won't be chipping in to help once in a while." After a couple hours of watching Amy sleep in the carseat, we decide to invite our friends over to chill with us while we just stare at Amy for the rest of the day. It isn't long before they are at the door and running in with excitement.
"Can I hold her?" Cassadee asks almost immediately after they sit down. We allow for Cassadee to hold her while she continues to sleep. After some time, we put her back in the carseat since everyone's arms have gotten tired.
"So, parenthood. How do you guys like it so far?" Alex asks us.
"It's definitely fun so far." I answer. "I'm sure it hasn't hit the hard stuff yet." I begin to laugh.
"Well, I'm happy for you guys." Rian says. "I know it all came by really fast, but you guys can definitely do it. I have faith." After a few minutes, Amy begins to cry. I let out a sigh.
"I just can't catch a break." I laugh. I start to let her out of the carseat as Jack prepares the small bottle for her. I couldn't help but notice that not only was I very tired, but so was Jack. I was struggling to keep her in a tight grip and Jack was slowly making the bottle.
"Here, let me do it for you." Zack smiles putting his arms out to me. "Come on, I won't hurt her. I promise." I smile as I hand Amy to Zack and Jack hands him the bottle. We watch as Zack feeds her and I start to think. This moment is something I never thought I'd see. I never thought I would meet all these people who would give me the life to love. I take advantage of this moment and take a picture of them together.
A year ago, I would've never been able to convince myself that a year later I would be meet a guy who would show more care in the world for me than anyone else has ever done. I wouldn't be convinced that I would have the best friends anyone could ask for. I wouldn't be convinced that I was going to be married to the love of my life and have a baby with them. If it weren't for any of them and the surreal experiences they all have given me, I wouldn't be alive right now. With the many fun memories we've had together, there shall surely be more to come.
