The City Comes Alive When We're Together

As I'm about to get into line to pay for the oreos, I feel my phone ring. I pull it out of my phone and look to see that it is Megan.
"Hey babe? How you doing?" I ask as I answer the phone.
"Baby, I need you to get home." She groans, trying not to cry.
"Are you ok hun?" I yell concerned. "Babe, what's wrong?"
"I think I'm in labor." She cries. "Please, get home now." I instantly gasp.
"Ok, babe, I'm in line now. I'll be home as soon as I can after I pay for your oreos." I tell her as nicely as I can.
"Screw the oreos, just get home!" She yells. Wow, she must really be in pain, because for once I can hear it in her voice. I walk up to a sales associate and tell them I no longer need the oreos and run out to my car. I hop in and drive home as fast as I can, yes that means I'm speeding. As soon as I get home, I run into the house to see Megan laying on the couch in pain.
"Oh my God, baby are you ok?!" I yell running up to her and helping her up.
"No, I think she's coming." She cries as I help her out.
"Ok, baby it'll be ok. Just take a deep breath." I say to her rubbing her back. "Come on sweetheart, let's go." I help her out to the car as she moves very slowly and cries the whole way there. I really hope the baby comes out quick so I don't have to see her suffer like this anymore.
As soon as I help her in the car and get in the drivers seat, I rush straight to the hospital to get Megan there as quick as I can. It was only a matter of minutes before we were at the hospital, which I'm sure felt like hours for Megan.
As soon as we get in the hospital, I walk up to the counter and tell them the situation. Minutes later, a nurse walks up with a wheelchair in which they put Megan in and take us to the nursery area. Once they get us to a certain room, they put Megan in the bed and have me leave the room temporarily so they can see how much longer she has before the baby's born. Though from what I would say, I think she's already ready. Just then, the nurses leave room and look at me.
"Well, you can go back in there." One of the nurses say to me smiling. "Unfortunately, she's not ready to have the baby yet, even with as much pain as she in."
"What?" I ask them confused.
"Well, she's ready. But, it'll be a while before she's dilated enough to give birth." The other nurse explains. "If we tried to force the baby out right now, either her or the baby could be hurt and we definitely don't want that." That makes sense.
"Right, never." I answer. I walk back into the room to see Megan laying in the bed, finally not in pain. "You feeling better baby?"
"Yeah, a little bit." She responds. "I'm sure it won't last long." I walk up and give her a kiss. We order our dinner to eat, then when we were done eating, I lay on the couch and eventually fall asleep after staring at Megan for a while watching her sleep more peacefully than I expected her to.
