Starlight

XI

“So…” Jack watched Alex, who was eating his second portion of lasagna.

He lifted his eyes up to look at Jack. He knew what he wants. Answers. That’s all he’s worrying about the last few hours. He hadn’t asked anything, but just looking at him it’s obvious that he’s thinking way too much. That he’s thinking how this all is possible.

“What? Just ask, don’t be shy,” Alex smirked.

“I don’t want to sound disrespectful or anything, but…in our world if someone thinks of an angel it’s only normal to imagine that there’s also a God. That they’re connected.”

“I know that people here think that. Not all, but some thinks that it’s true.”

“And? It is?”

“No,” he answered with mouth full with lasagna, “if there is, then he’s not connected to us. There is elder in our community that kind of rules us. He told us about that thing with our worlds colliding, he helps angels who have lost their ways and things like that, but he’s not a God. He’s just as much of an angel as the rest of us.”

“Mhm,” so no God for Alex. That’s kind of relieve, but at the same time this elder sounds close to being a God, “what about this elder? Is he the only one who rules all of you?”

“Yeah, I know it’s hard for you to understand because in your world there’s many countries and each country has its own leader, but we don’t need that so there’s one elder who leads us if that’s needed. Not that it would be needed so often, but sometimes he has to do some things.”

“You have only one leader to all of you? It’s like…you’re something around seven milliard, like us, right?”

Light nod from Alex as he stuffs his mouth with food.

“How’s that even possible? How can he control all of you?”

“There’s no need to control us. We all have one goal in our lives so there’s not much of a need to have a leader anyway.”

“And that goal is…”

“To help and guide our human.”

“Right…” from everything that Alex had told, this was the most normal thing of all. One leader, one goal. Nothing too weird, nothing that would make Alex look crazier, “What was the thing about our worlds?”

“Our worlds collided.”

“What? And we didn’t even feel that? When was that and why no one told us about that?”

“I told you and you felt it.”

“What?”

Alex sighed, put his fork on the plate and turned his full attention to Jack, “all those earthquakes, storms and everything was caused because of our worlds colliding.”

“But ho…how could that happen?”

“This has happened only one time, before this time. Our worlds has always been close to each other, they were something like parallel worlds. And yes, you didn’t know about that. Your scientist have this idea that there are parallel worlds and actually they’re right, they’re just not able to prove it.”

“Why?”

“I don’t know. There’s something that protects our world from your eyes.”

Parallel world. World people didn’t know about. Worlds colliding. Seven milliard more citizens on Earth. There’s already problems with food and clean water. People are dying in Africa, India, some parts of China. They don’t have enough food and now there’s even more people who’ll need all that.

“When did it happen last time? That one time before…you said…”

“Mhm, last time it destroyed part of your world and people from that part were…like, thrown into our world. Like this time we were thrown into this world. Anyway, that part of your world was Atlantis and it was destroyed when our worlds collided that time.”

Jack looked at Alex with wide eyes and opened mouth. There were Atlantis. This is not just a story?

“Jack?” Alex sounded concerned.

“Yeah?”

“You okay?”

“I think so. You just…all those things you’re telling…it all makes sense but it’s…weird. Too weird. I mean. Angels were killed and people died and we called it the Black Death. Some parallel worlds that collided, Atlantis, people being thrown into your world and now you’re all here…it’s too much.”

“I told you you’re not ready,” Alex muttered.

“No, it’s good that you told me otherwise I would still think you’re crazy and wouldn’t let you to stay here.”

“Mm, that’s good,” he looked past Jack and out of the window, “You’re all in such a rush all the time. You should learn to take things easier.”

“Yeah, that would help a lot,” Jack laughed, looking at Alex. He looked better than yesterday. Whether it was because he was with his human, or because he had slept or because of the food, but he looked better.

“When do you have to go to work or to school?” Alex asked, getting up and going over to sink to wash his plate.

“It’s not school, but I have to go tomorrow.”

“You’re studying there so it is school.”

“Whatever.”

“Some other questions?” Alex looked over his shoulder.

“Maybe. I don’t know.”

There would be many other questions, but Jack was already confused by Alex’s other answers today and he needed to sort all of this in his mind. He just wasn’t ready for more information. It might be too much for his brain.

“You asked me yesterday why angels have to be older than their human,” Alex said, turning around and facing Jack with towel in his hands.

Jack looked at Alex. He liked to talk. When he wasn’t hungry or didn’t want to sleep.

“Yeah.”

“Because we have to be there for our human. We need to be there before you’re born so we’re usually older. Not too old, I know that the biggest age difference between human and angel has been seven years. Ours is pretty normal, if it’s less than six months than it is something everyone should worry about, because angel might not be ready to take care of his human, he might be too immature, you know.”

“And those six months makes you more mature than me?” Jack chuckles.

“I am more mature than you are. Trust me, I know that,” he put the towel back down and walked past Jack to sit down on the couch. He took his laptop from the coffee table and opened it, “So how does this thing work? You all people seem to be very close with these things and they’re not even alive!”

“There’s everything you need,” Jack got up from the chair he’d been sitting on and walks over to Alex.

Notes

It's been almost two weeks and that is just unacceptable!!! but I have three [in my opinion] good reasons why there were no updates ;D
1 - I was working on this. I was obsessed with this idea and I needed to get it out so I would be able to continue on this story ^^ if you're interested in slightly insane and fucked up stories then you might enjoy it.
2 - a party with classmates
and 3 - my mom's birthday
