Me Without You

Party Tricks (Day 24/25)

“Drinks?” Jack poked his head into my bunk as I scrolled through my twitter replies. I beamed and jumped down to throw on a pair of black jeans, heels and a sheer red plaid sleeveless button up. I grabbed my purse as I was applauded for being ready in record time.
“Now if only someone else could get ready that fast!” Zack yelled toward the bathroom.
“And that someone had a half-hour notice!” Alex chimed in and I couldn’t help but laugh. This was going to be very enjoyable. We all piled into the van as Matt drove us to the bar.
“Join us, Mickey Mouse!” I pleaded but he shook his head.
“I got work to do.” He sped off leaving us in the warm Dallas summer air. Jack led the charge into the bar and got the first round of shots.
“Start ‘em off heavy.” He laughed as we all downed a shot of whiskey. Lisa was clinging to Alex’s side and I could tell he was getting annoyed already.
“Honey,” I caught her attention, and everyone elses for that matter. “Alex is gonna run away from you, and no one wants to take that faggot off your hands. So you can release him from your death grip if you like.” I smiled sickly sweetly and the whole table burst into laughter. Lisa quickly dropped her hold of Alex’s arm and blushed. Alex nudged her side and placed a quick kiss on the top of her head, smiling at me the whole time. I raised my beer in the air and then gave Zack a challenging glance.
“Bring it on, Roberts.” I smiled and Jack counted down. I tipped my head bag and sucked on my beer a couple of times before opening my throat up and letting the liquid fall straight into my stomach. Zack stared at me wide-eyed as he was only half way through his beer and bottle was drained.
“I taught her a new party trick.” Mike wrapped an arm around me and gave me an approving smile. I flicked Zack away and he trudged off to the bar to buy me the winners shot. A green liquid slid across the table to me and I cheered. My favourite, Midori. I knocked it back before doing another whiskey chaser with Jack and disappearing onto the dance floor.

“Why is she even here, Alex?” Lisa drunkenly moaned into his too sober shoulder. “Nothing’s fun anymore. All she does is mock me.” Alex rolled his eyes and I laughed from my spying position by the bathroom doors.
“Lisa, she said one thing. And you were holding onto my arm rather tight.” She slapped him and chastised him for taking my side and I slid into the chair next to her.
“Hey, Lexi, go have a drink with Jack. I’ll take care of Lisa.” She scowled at me as Alex thanked me and ran off. “Oh, major daggers there.” I took a swig of my beer.
“I don’t need taking care of.” I nearly spat my beer out.
“Lisa, you are so drunk I bet you couldn’t walk in a straight line.” She jumped to her feet and tripped over her heels in her rush. I pointed my beer at her and grinned. “Precisely my point.”
“Why did you even come back on tour?” She spat. “I thought you were all freaking out about seeing the band again?”
“If you must know,” I gave an evil grin to her and leaned in closely. “I came to steal your boyfriend.” Lisa stared at me, unsure on whether to believe me or not. I burst out laughing and got to my feet. “Okay, if you believe that I’d ever take Alex, you are drunk. I text Matt to come and get you.” I grabbed her hand and supported her as she staggered toward the doorway. Matt was already waiting outside and came to take her off me. After loading her into the van her leaned out the window and smiled at me.
“You got her drunk on purpose? Didn’t you?” I laughed and saluted him before running back inside to find my boys and finally have some fun. A pair of hand settled on my waist and pushed me into the dancing crowd.
“Thank you.” Alex whispered in my ear and I bowed.
“Anything to get rid of her. She kills my buzz.” We started to dance and shouted at each toher over the music.
“Is that why you came back? Because of Lisa?” I nodded as some random started to grind up behind me. “You know she lives with me right? I have to put up with it all the time?”
“Yeah but not while you’re on tour you don’t!” I grinned as I pulled a passing Jack over to dance with me. “I’m here to keep tour fun. Tell me that if I didn’t get her wasted earlier and then convince her to go home that you wouldn’t be sitting at that table with her right now.” Alex laughed and gave me a look that I took as defeat and I turned to Jack who was dancing like an idiot.

I stood over the grill cooking up eggs to nurse everyone’s raging hang overs. Last night I had decided to change my tactic towards Lisa. I was going to take this opportunity to become her best friend. I pulled back the curtains of the spare bunk where Lisa had been put to bed the previous night.
“Lisa?” I asked as she groaned and sat up. I handed her a glass of water and Tylenol before reaching back and handing her an omelette. “I made you eggs. You had a rough night last night.” She rubbed her head before smiling up at me.
“Thanks.” She murmured before tucking in. I turned to find Jack had climbed down from his bunk and was staring at me. I knew exactly what he wanted. I walked over to the grill and tipped the second omelette onto a plate and handed it to him.
“I love you.” He smiled huskily as he practically swallowed it whole.
“Oh, I know.” I smiled before delivering everyone elses to their bunks like I had Lisa. Zack put his on the shelf and reached out to pull me in beside him. His arms wrapped around my waist and he nuzzled his face into the back of my neck as he got comfortable.
“I missed our drunken cuddles.” He whispered as I giggled at how deep his voice was in the morning. As soon as we had got in last night Zack had scooped me up and declared dibs, throwing me into his bunk and cuddling up. It was repeat of all our high school parties. I was Zack’s drunken cuddle buddy and no one would dispute that.
“So do I.” I smiled as I closed my eyes, enjoying the feeling of being held in his arms. It felt safe here with him.
“And by the way, you have to teach me that party trick.”

@Evie
Ahh okay I get it :)

I really hope I didn't sound mean. If I didn't like your story I wouldn't have bothered. I just thought it was good enough for me to point out.

@we-forgot-monday
Hey :) I kind of wanted that to be the point. Jasey seems so perfect and everyone seems to like her so much that her downfall is how possessive she becomes over everyone. How they're her boys and no one else's unless she totally approves of them. I read a lot of fanfiction where the female is 'perfect' in a way and I wanted to try push that in a different way where her perfection and popularity is her downfall. For example, how she can't choose between Alex or Jack but still expects both of them to hang around for her and not move on, which ultimately all comes from her insecurity but we haven't got there yet ;) I'm starting to focus more on that side of the story now as its coming toward the end but I thought I should just put that out there and I'm really do apologise if it's unclear! The story did begin with a lack of character put into Jasey which I'm trying to slowly fix up through both the chapters coming up and the prequel.
Thanks for your comment!

I really don't mean to sound bitchy or mean but why does everyone like Jasey so much? What has she done? She seems kind of perfect, which seems kind of unrealistic. I haven't finished the story yet but does she have any flaws? Also why are they all her boys? Is no other female allowed to be a part of their lives but Jasey? This story is well written and there are certain parts of it that I really like, its just that those things don't really make sense. I really hope I didn't hurt your feelings or anything like that, because I am in no means a perfect writer, but I hope its like constructive criticism.

@Rebecca.Troy
Lets face it, there's never enough drama :)
