“Just sit down and stop complaining” Melissa instructed me.
I rolled my eyes at her, picking up my phone and logging onto twitter. I checked my mentions to see it flooded with “please follow me I love you!” I followed a few people then logged off and placing my phone onto the table in front of me. I was currently waiting for a 'meeting' except it wasn't any usual normal meeting it was so much more than that, it was something I had no control over. I was being set up with another famous person as a publicity stunt, something I never wanted to do, I didn't want to lie to my fans about who I was dating, my fans were everything to me, without them I wouldn't be where I was today but apparently I had no choice in the matter, I needed this 'vital' career boost since my new album was coming out in a few weeks and apparently the person I was being set up with was doing a new tour in England so since I was pretty big in England it might help boost their album sales and fans over here.
I had no clue on who the guy was that I was going to be 'pretend dating' which annoyed me because didn't I have a right to know? My manager Melissa was standing nervously a few meters away from me, why was she nervous? She's meant to be the one in charge of everything, maybe she was worried that I wouldn't like the guy I was being set up with and to be honest I properly wouldn't, I didn't want to be set up with someone, I wanted to get into a relationship with someone that I actually liked and wanted to be with not to boost my career or somebody else's besides I was nineteen and I was focusing on my career I didn't want to be in a fake relationship right now, I didn't have the time for it.
I heard the door swing open behind me and the shuffling of feet across the floor but I couldn't be bothered to turn around and see who it was which properly made me look more rude than I had intended. I saw Melissa give me a cold, hard stare so I put on my best fake smile and turned around to see who it was. There was a tall, muscular man standing next to a man who had brown hair and a gorgeous smile which made me melt a little inside when he smiled at me. I ran a hand through my hair standing up to introduce myself to the man, I recognised him but I couldn't quite place his name.
“Hey, I'm Raven but everyone calls me Rae.” I said extending my hand towards him.
“Alright, hi Rae I'm Alex.” Alex said with his american accent accepting my hand and shaking it.
After a few seconds I let go of his hand and went back over to the table sitting down, there was a lot to 'discuss'. Alex joined me at the table sitting on the opposite side pulling out his phone whilst we waited for Eddie. We were both signed to the different record labels as we talked I found him and his band were signed to Hopeless Records whereas I was signed too Big Machine Records.
About twenty minutes later Eddie finally arrived taking the seat at the top of the table to show that he was in charge. I always felt nervous around him, like I was being judged or that he was about to tell me bad news but I already knew the bad news I was going to have to been in a fake relationship and I couldn't think of anything worse than that.
“Right, let's get straight down to business. All Time Low are about to start their tour across England next month and then Raven your album Starlight came out in the middle of December which was the perfect time for it to be a Christmas present, you both have quite large individual fanbases so we were thinking if you were 'dating' then some of your fans might mix and make both of your fanbases even bigger, to help this actually happen Raven we have discussed with Hopeless Records that you will be going with All Time Low during the tour round England as their opening act which will help promote your new album to a range of new people and then after the tour in England there will be a two week break before All Time Low join you as your supporting act on your world tour. Now do you have any questions?” Eddie asked us both.
“How long is this dating thing meant to last?” I asked Eddie.
“Till about a month after the world tour has finished, we can build up some arguing and stuff in the weeks leading up to the 'break up'.” Simon explained.
Wow, they sure had everything planned out even to the last detail. I still didn't feel comfortable with this though, as cheesy as it sounds the fans were the reason why I was getting to live my dream every single day and I was going to be lying to them and acting as if Alex Gaskarth was my world when in reality he really wasn't, it wasn't like he wasn't attractive because I'd have to be blind to not find him attractive but I barley knew the guy he wasn't even my 'friend'.
“Do we have to do this, surely we could still do the tour thing but the dating thing just really seems pointless. What if we both say no and refuse to do it?” I asked.
“Raven I do not know why you are arguing against this it will boost both of your careers massively anyway there is no point arguing about this- it's going to happen.” Simon said firmly.
“It won't be that bad you get me as a friend!” Alex said jokingly trying to lighten the mood.
“Mhm great. Publicity stunts never work out, I'm going to have to deal with so much hate and it's not like I even want to go through with this.” I moaned.
“Raven for god sake stop moaning! This is happening whether you like it or not so just bloody well deal with it!” Melissa shouted at me.
Melissa had never gotten this angry at me before so I decided it was best to just shutup. Eddie explained a few more things to me and Alex and one of them being that our first 'date' would be tonight but it would be just getting to know each other round my house since Alex didn't have a place in England the media didn't have to find out about it which I was grateful for, I wanted to get to know Alex before everyone thought we were dating.
Finally we were allowed to leave, I'd never been so happy to get out of somewhere so quickly. I gave Alex a brief awkward hug goodbye and he told me that he would see me later then me and Melissa got in the taxi that was waiting outside for us to drive us back to my house.
As soon as I got back I started to get ready for tonight, I wanted to create a good impression to Alex after all I did want to be friends with him even though I'd properly put him right off after the way I acted earlier, he properly thought I was some spoilt brat or something which was far from the truth. I changed into some skinny jeans, white top and a blue denim jacket with some grey vans. I re-did my hair tying my light brown hair up into a messy bun.
After I was ready I went back downstairs, flopping in front of the TV switching it onto my favourite channel Comedy Central and began to watch the endless reruns of F.R.I.E.N.D.S this would be a good way too use up my time until Alex got here.

30 minutes later and Alex was here, I stood up to open the door being greeted by a cheesy grin as he stood there with a takeaway pizza in his hand. I let him inside, shutting the door behind me as we walked into the front room.
“I bought pizza, I didn't know what you liked so I just got a pepperoni.” Alex said.
“That's actually my favourite haha.” I said whilst sitting down on the sofa.
“Awesome, mine too! Now shall we talk and eat?” Alex asked.
“Yes, I'm starving!”
A laugh erupted from Alex's mouth as he placed the pizza box on the coffee table and grabbed a slice of the pizza. I grabbed a slice before shovelling it into my mouth. I was a bad excuse for a girl.
“So tell me about yourself.” Alex said in between mouthfuls of pizza.
“What do you wanna know?” I asked.
“Age, favourite colour, favourite band, most famous contact on your phone and hmm how do you really feel about this dating thing?”
“I'm nineteen, my favourite colour is pink, my favourite band is called 5 Seconds of Summer most famous contact on my phone is properly Ashton Irwin from 5 Seconds of Summer and how I honestly feel about this dating thing? Not that great... I wanna meet someone and fall in love, not have to pretend that I'm in love with someone I barley know- no offence but I'm sure we'll become great friends since we'll be together practically all of the time, how do you feel about it?”
“I don't mind too much I guess. I haven't had a girlfriend in ages, I'm always so busy and I guess this will be good for both of our career's.”
“Oh yeah you're in a band tell me about the others.”
“Well there's a guy called Jack and I'm pretty sure you'll become great friends with him, he's awesome but he tells too many shit dick jokes, there's Zack who's great to talk to about serious stuff, he's a bit shy so when you meet him it might be a bit awkward at first but after that I'm sure it'll be fine he's really into photography and skateboarding and then there's Rian who's the best fucking drummer going and also his teeth are really white I mean I can almost see my teeth in them.” Alex informed me laughing.
“Aw, they actually sound really cool I can't wait to meet them!” I replied honestly.
“I think you will all get along well, they know about the fake dating thing by the way so you don't have to worry about that.”
“Okay, do you wanna watch some films and stuff?” I asked.
Alex nodded his head as I got up and flicked through my DVD folder, selecting a film then slotting it into the DVD player. I sat back down next to Alex hitting play on the remote as Alex slung one of his arms around my shoulder, pulling me in close. It felt nice I had to admit but I knew that I could only think of it in a friendly way since I had only met the guy today and I doubt he'd ever go for a girl like me. I let my head rest onto Alex's shoulder as I tried to focus on the film but it was no use my eyes closed shut sleep quickly taking over me.
