“Why am I with you right now?” Alex asked when Acacia pulled out her badge from her coat pocket.

She smirked at him when the assistant opened the door to the photo studio.

“Well, you might as well come with me if you are going to be in the building anyways!” Ace replied.

After finding concrete evidence and even a great motive, Ace finally decided to let Loki in on the news of her investigation. She brought Alex along since he had to be in the building to do an interview on their new, recently finished album. He seems to be complying against the idea of accompanying her.

The entrance opened, revealing flashing cameras and a woman with a large American flag wrapped around her entire torso. Alex and Ace entered the studio, prompting for Loki to look away from the photo shoot and at them.

“Ahh, Detective Kovacs! How may I be of service today?” He asked enthusiastically.

Ace confronted the CEO and once she got closer to the photo shoot going on in front of her, her eyes widened at the woman in front of the white screen.

“Liezel?” Alex was the first to speak instead.

The blonde detective stared at her friend in confusion, unable to believe that she had returned to Baltimore without telling her. Of course it is nearing the end of January and the Australian Open would be done by now, but she expected a phone call or a head’s up if she is to return.

“Hey!” Liezel chuckled nervously as she glanced from Alex to Ace.

Her dark eyebrows crinkled at the sight of these two together, again.

“What are you doing here?” Alex asked.

“Oh, I just won the Australian Open and Loki thought it was a good idea to have me on the cover of the next issue of Lockheart Monthly.” She beamed when she mentioned the magazine name.

The singer nodded solemnly and watched as the tennis star removed the flag from around her. His eyes widened slightly when they glanced at her bikini-clad body. Ace shuffled uncomfortably before returning his attention to the CEO beside her.

“Mr. Lockheart, may I talk to you privately?” She asked quietly.

The blonde CEO nodded and gestured for her to make her way out of the room first. She followed behind him almost too desperately, not wanting to be apart of the awkwardness between Alex and Liezel.

When the two made it to a private area in a room connected to the studio, the CEO turned to her with an expectant look on his face.

“Is something wrong detective? I’ve been seeing you around here more often than usual. Is Wallace okay or do we have a problem?” Loki looks really concerned about what is going on.

Acacia scratched at the back of her head and hesitated to tell him the news. Not even her detective instincts can get her out of this one.

“Um… we have reason to believe that Lily Phantom did not kill your father.” She replied honestly.

She almost clenched her teeth to brace his respond but she is stronger than that. Her years into this occupation helped her brace for the worse during confrontation with the victims’ next of kin.

“Wait, what?” Loki’s expression changed drastically.

He looked really bothered at the mention of his late father.

“Look, I did not want to tell you before my investigation because I needed concrete proof to point an accusing finger at the actual killer of your father.”

His hazel eyes watered slightly, which broke her heart to watch. She liked Loki Lockheart; he is a nice guy. Seeing his heart break in front of her is unsettling for someone as tough as the detective herself.

“Who killed my father?”

“Your brother Ryland.”

Loki dropped both of his hands dramatically.

“No… you’re lying.” He breathed out, dazzlingly.

“Mr. Lockheart…”

“Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” Loki is angry now.

There is an edge to his voice that she has never heard before. He has always been kind, and his conversations and tone of voice are usually light. This side of him is uncomfortable for her to witness.

“I wanted to be sure before I make this a concern for you.”

“Why would Ryland want to kill our father? I know he hated him, but I didn’t think he would ever…”

“Loki, we have reason to believe that he blames Conrad Lockheart for the death of his mother.”

Loki shook his head in disbelief.

“She killed herself.”

“Yeah, but she had been suffering from depression because he left her.”

“So my father died because of some savvy revenge plot?”

Ace placed a hand on his upper biceps and he didn’t push them away as she thought he would. She rubbed his biceps in comfort, giving him a weak smile as a gesture of comfort.

“So are you going to arrest him yet?”

“Well, I still have to take the case up with my captain, but yeah, as soon as I get a warrant for his house and find all the evidence that I need, I will have him arrested.”

Loki nodded wordlessly and managed a smile at her.

“Thank you so much, detective. You are so dedicated to this case. You could’ve let Ryland off loose and it would make your job easier, but you chose to follow it through.”

She grinned.

“It’s my job! You and your family deserve to know the truth.”

“Please keep me updated on your investigation!”

“Of course, Mr. Lockheart!”

The two returned to the photo studio and noticed that Alex is seated quietly on one of the comfortable chairs behind the camera. Liezel is in front of the white screen, holding the American flag up behind her while holding a pose. At the sight, Ace stared enviously at the tennis player’s perfectly shaped body.

“Alex, I’m going to head back to the precinct, I’ll see you later okay?” Acacia turned to the singer.

He gave her a solemn nod, allowing her to make her departure. Just as Ace turned to leave, the dark haired tennis player called out from behind her.

“Wait, Ace!”

Acacia turned to her friend.

“Can we talk later? I’ll treat you to a meal at Jamison’s in two hours.”

The blonde detective shot her friend a small smile.

“Yeah sure! Pick me up at the precinct at 12!”

Zack ran his fingers through Wallace’s red locks as he repeatedly connected his lips to hers. She moaned lightly against his lips and buckled her hips into him. He chuckled at her, pulling away from her lips. She smiled, placing a hand on his cheek. At this moment, the two just stared at each other.

“I love you, did you know that?” Wallace whispered.

Grinning at her, he moved down on her again and pressed his lips against hers. Their lips moved together heatedly as his hands ran down her bare body. Loud sighs erupted the room, both bodies moving against one another.

The moment was precious for the pair of them but it was interrupted immediately by the loud banging against the front door.

“Wallace Poulsen, Baltimore Police, open up!” A male voice reverberated throughout the model’s apartment.

Both Zack and Wallace groaned loudly, getting up from the bed in unison. Right after Wallace gets her apartment back from the snowstorm, a police has to interrupt her time with her own boyfriend. She rolled her eyes as she slipped on a robe from her closet.

“What does the police want with you?” Zack asked, clearly worried.

The redhead smiled at her boyfriend reassuringly before walking out of the door. Zack attempted to follow after slipping on his boxers but the model turned on him and closed the door behind her, rapidly sticking the keys into the lock. After locking her boyfriend into her bedroom, she ran toward the front door.

“Wallace, what the hell are you doing?” Zack sighed in frustration as he banged against the bedroom door.

From Wallace’s bedroom, he can hear the sound of the front door opening. He finally decided against banging the bedroom door and took the time to listen. With his ear against the wooden door, he physically relaxed.

“What are you doing here?” He can hear Wallace hiss.

“Well, we have important matters to discuss with you regarding the Dan Potter case.” Zack recognized the voice.

James Iverson, Ace’s partner in the homicide division.

“Shh!”

And then all he heard was mumbling. Everything was incoherent to him but he did catch some words such as “tattoo” and “framed.” Nothing is making sense to him; he would never thought in a million years that his girlfriend would lock him in her bedroom.

Wallace would never do that! Ace, maybe, but Wallace Poulsen, the kind hearted woman that he fell madly in love with, would never have a reason to lock him in. She is also the last person he imagined to be confronted by the police.

He waited for about ten minutes before he heard the door close, followed by her frantic footsteps. The door unlocked and was thrown open as soon as it was allowed to. Zack pushed his way past his girlfriend, shaking his head in disbelief.

“Zack, I can explain…” Wallace started.

“Wallace, I want to know what is going on.” Zack said sharply, turning on her as he picked up his shirt from the living room floor.

The model watched helplessly as he put his shirt on over his head. She walked toward him with both hands on top of her messy red hair. Detective Iverson wasn’t supposed to just barge in on her house like that; he was supposed to get Ace to deliver news to her discretely.

Zack isn’t supposed to know about any of the Dan Potter business.

“I can’t tell you…”

“Wallace.” He said sternly after putting on his jeans.

Wallace shook her head again.

The bassist sighed in frustration and picked up his iPhone from the coffee table. Without sparing her another look, he snatched his winter coat from the coat rack as he brushed past it. Her footsteps trailed after him but he is too angry to listen to her pleads.

They are in a relationship together; she is supposed to be honest with him. Although he is not 100% honest with her regarding his feelings towards Acacia, he still is very open to her about his life and how he felt at times. Detective Iverson wanted to speak with her and Wallace locked him in her bedroom, of course it is important enough for him to be informed.

If she is unwilling to tell him what is going on, he is not going to stay around and listen to her make her excuses.

“Where are you going, Zack?”

I can’t tell you…” He replied mockingly.

Without another look at her, he walked out of her front door.
