The First Time

Zack’s POV

I was feeling as wretched as usual. I still feel horrible after what I did to Emma. I don’t know where she is now, but I hope she’s fine and happy even if it’s without me.

I stayed at the hotel room with Jack after Alex and Rian decided to go out. I turned on the TV and there was nothing on that wasn’t romantic. I decided to choose one movie. The Notebook was on and the others were just bad movies from the 70s or something. I had no interest in them so I chose The Notebook. Oh here comes the part where they went on the boat.

“BOO!” I shouted. Jack just stared at me like he was scared and he moved away a bit from me. I’m sorry Jack. I just can’t help it. I’ve turned bitter. Even so, I think I’m bitter because I miss her. I miss her, I can’t forget about her.

We kept on watching until Rian and Alex came in. Sometimes I get jealous of Alex and Rian. They have Lisa and Cassadee, who are their other halves while I let mine slip away.

"Zack, we got to tell you something.” Rian looked gloomy

“What is it?” I suspiciously asked

“Emma’s here. We visited her. She lives in Boston.”

"Oh. That’s nice.”

“Dude, we need answers.” Alex added. “What happened to you two?” God, not this question.

“I don’t feel like answering that. I’ll tell you when I’m ready.”

“It’s been four years Zack! We need to know. The way you screamed at the TV was not okay! You’ve been losing your mind!” Jack snapped. “You miss her. We get it, but we have to know at least something. You never tell us anything and you go around feeling miserable.”

“I’m sorry. It was hard for me! It was my fault. It was an accident I didn’t mean to happen.” I stood up and went away. I could feel the guys looking at each other.

I went up to my bed and I lay there. I feel more awful than ever. It even hurts just thinking of her. I can’t forget the disappointment in her eyes. What have I done? Why did I let her go? I was a whole when I was with her and now I just feel broken.
