The First Time

Emma’s POV

It’s been a week after our real first proper date. I told Joe and Kate about our date and they really want to meet him.I asked Zack if he wanted to meet my siblings and thank goodness he agreed. It must’ve been awkward for him when I asked him about it.

I’m waiting for Zack to come out. I’m so nervous. What if Zack doesn’t like Kate or Joe or both? What would happen if it is the other way around? Oh my God, what if they hate each other? I hope not…

“Hey! You ready?” Zack popped out.

“Yeah!”

“Come on then, let’s go!”

I’m feeling really anxious. In the middle of our trip, Zack held my hand, looked at me, and smiled. I smiled back. He must have felt my anxiety. Not long after that, we arrived. Kate and Joe aren’t here yet so we watched some shows and cuddled in the sofa.

Suddenly, Joe came in and it actually took us by surprised.

“Hey, you two. Is Kate here yet?”

“Uhm, no.” I smiled

“Hi, I’m Zack Merrick. You must be Joe. I’m really glad I got the chance to meet you.”

“Hi Zack, heard a lot about you. Also, I’m feeling the same way about this meeting. Well, I guess let’s just wait for my other sister to come home. I hope you aren’t busy. Kate might get here in like another hour.”

“It’s fine.” Zack said while smiling.

“What are you guys watching?”

“Spongebob.” I grinned. I know Joe loves Spongebob.

Zack and I sat back on the couch and then Joe comes in with some chips. He sat between us like one of those creepy over protective dads. Zack and I shared a glance and we chuckled a bit.

“Do you want some chips? Zack? Emma?”

“Uhm, no thank you.” The both of us replied. Joe just kept on chewing and chewing. Kate please save me.

“So Zack, you’ve got some muscles going on.”

“Yeah. Keeping it fit.”

“Nice! How old are you by the way?”

“I’m seventeen.”

“What do you do to keep it fit?”

“I go to the gym if I have some time. I exercise a lot, but I also eat a lot. So it’s kinda balanced” Oh God, Joe what are you doing? Zack must feel really awkward.

“Emma here also eats a lot. When she gets her period she turns into a grizzly bear. Just hogs all the food” I choked

“Joe, can you not? Yes, I eat a lot. I have big appetite.” I looked at Joe. Joe just chuckled.

“I’m home!” OH MY GOD KATE FINALLY. PLEASE SAVE ME!

“You must be Kate. It’s really nice to meet you.” Zack stood up and shook Kate’s hand.

“Pleasure, and you must be Zack.”

“Well, I’m gonna cook a little bit of something for us. I hope you don’t mind waiting a bit longer. Emma do you want to help?”

“Oh it’s okay, take your time.” Zack smiled. I went with Kate to the kitchen. We took some ingredients. I started to peel the carrots while Kate starts to cut the meat.

“He’s cute and polite. Such a gentleman.” Kate gave me a cheeky smile.

“Yeah.” I looked at Zack who’s helping Joe set the table.

“Do you like him?”

“I do. What more can I ask for?”

“I’m glad you like him.” Kate gave me a kiss in the forehead. “ Now, please cut the carrots neatly.” I chuckled.

Some time after, the dish was ready, the table was set, and here comes the talk.

“I don’t want to be like one of those overprotective dads. Well in my case brothers, so let’s have fun.” Joe smiled. “You don’t have to be shy with us. Tell us your interests. We’re not like other siblings. We’re cool siblings.” Joe, what are you doing?! Zack just looked at me flashing me a smile.

“Okay then, first of all, this is a really good dish. Thank you Kate and thank you for having me here guys.”

“No problem.” Kate replied with a grin. “Uhm, I heard you were in band? How’s it going?”

“Uhm, quite well actually. I have some recordings of our songs in my phone if you want to hear it.”

“Nice! What do you play?” Joe added.

“Bass.”

“Awesome.” Joe and Zack fist bumped. “Exercises, compliments Kate’s cooking, plays bass, handsome, and polite. If I was a girl, you’re definitely in my “perfect guy” list."

“Thanks.” Zack smiled. Zack and I shared a glance. I hope he’s having a good time.

“Do you want me to help you clean? I could bring the dishes back if you want to.” Zack offered after we finished eating.

“Why, thank you Zack.” Kate smiled

“I’ll help you.” I helped Zack bring the glasses and plates to the pantry. Kate and Joe started to clean up the table.

“Well it’s quite late. I had a blast having dinner with you. Thank you for having me here, but I might have to go.”

“It’s a pleasure having you here. I know it’s been awkward. We’re just new at this.” Kate said while standing up.

“It’s okay. I’m also not good at these things, so it’s a mutual feeling. Well, farewell.” Zack said while smiling. I walked Zack to his car.

“Zack, I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay Em. I like them actually. I understand this is new for all of us.”

“Thank you Zack, for understanding.” He smiled

“Em, do you want to meet my family tomorrow?”

“Are you sure I’m ready?”

“Just be yourself.”

“Okay.” I smile

“I’ll pick you up tomorrow.” He smiled back. We shared a kiss and he left. I walked back in the house.

“We like him.” Kate grinned

“He’s quiet though.” Joe added. “He’s just like you.”

“I’m glad you guys like him.” I smiled at them. “Well, it has been a very long day for me. I’ll just do the dishes and go to bed okay?”

“Okay.” I did the dishes; I gave my silly siblings a hug, and went upstairs. I took a nice, long warm bath, and went to bed. I’m glad Kate and Joe liked Zack. I hope tomorrow a mutual feeling will occur with Zack’s family.
