The First Time

Emma’s POV

Another day and I’m planning to actually do the idea I thought of last night. I went to school still feeling weird and uncomfortable. I kept on feeling like that until I saw Zack in the hallway near my locker. For some reason, my eyes lit up. I am always happy when I get to see him. I know I should probably talk more to him and not just be the quiet version of me. I know I can do this and I know that I have a side that talks. I just need a little push.

I walked to Zack and without hesitation I said, “Hey!” It was unlike me, but it was worth a shot. He looked at me, grinned, and said, “Hey, you seem happy.”

“I am,” I replied. “You know, since the band rehearsal, I’ve been thinking and I just wanted you to know that I’m glad and grateful to have you. Thank you Zack.” It went by really quick and before I knew it, my brain was telling me to kiss him in the cheek, so I did. I smiled and walked to class. It was liberating!

Zack’s POV

This morning, I went by my locker and Emma showed up. She said hey and I said hey back. She seems really happy today and so was I even though I was really nervous because of overthinking on how to get closer to Em. She then said, ”You know, since the band rehearsal, I’ve been thinking and I just wanted you to know that I’m glad and grateful to have you. Thank you Zack.” After saying that, she kissed me in the cheek smiled and went to class.

I was in complete shock. I didn’t see that coming, especially from Emma. I have a feeling that she thinks that it’s time to open up. I’m so excited to see the real Emma and not the shy, quiet, polite Emma. It was unlike me to be happy and excited. I’m more of a quiet guy, but this girl has really turned me upside down. I have this happy feeling inside of me and before I knew it I was jumping and cheering. I can’t wait to ask her if she wants to paint with me.
