Wanted Man

Chapter Eleven~ I'm Finding Happiness in Every Granted Wish

-Jack’s Point of View-

Its been two days, and honestly, its been the best two days of my life.
But I couldn’t stay here, Alex was going to find out I wasn’t the Jay he knew and liked, no, I was Jack. The man he wanted to kill..
I shuddered when he had placed his hand on my shoulder, just because I could feel the untapped anger that resided in him.
I had agreed to help him find ‘Jack’ but I just had to get out of here.
Or maybe I could stay and make him forget. God this was all so hard.
“Alex.. What have you got to do today, being sheriff and all?” I asked, trying to swing the conversation - and my thoughts - to something other than his hatred for the real me.
“Not much actually. I’ve got to go out and do a little bit of paperwork, check on a few of the locals and just be available in case anything bad happens, but honestly in this town nothing has happened.. Nothing since Jack” he said, his eyes returning to their earlier blaze.
Well fuck.. That topic change was a failure.
“I guess we should go do your errands then..” I said before realizing I had just rudely invited myself along, “Erm I mean.. If you want me to come along.. I could just stay here..”
“No no, its fine, really. You can come, but I guess we should get dressed first” he said, motioning to our bodies, still clad in what we had worn to bed.
“Oh yeah” I said, smiling and chuckling lightly.
'Nice one Jacko' I mentally shook my head.
Once we had changed, we decided to go check on these two old ladies who were the stereotypical pair. They were Southerners who were sisters, regular churchgoers and wore old bonnets and long layered skirts.
“Alex!” one of the women cried when she opened the door after we had ever so politely knocked.
“Miss Martha” he said, smiling and hugging her.
“Who’s this?” she said, peaking around him to see me.
“Jack” I said, offering an awkward wave and she nodded, still smiling.
What did you say?!?!” Alex asked, his mouth hanging open and his eyes wide with surprise.
JAY!!!”I said, realizing my mistake and cursing myself for letting it happen.
“Oh I coulda swore you said Jack!” Martha said chuckling, “But I’m old and my hearing is going. Come on in you two, I’ll put some tea on.”
“Why would I say Jack? My name is Jay.. Really!” I blabbered behind her, Alex looking at me from the side. I closed my mouth, realizing I was talking to no one and sounding more suspicious by the second.
“Amy! We’ve got guests!” Martha yelled and another women, strikingly similar, puttered around the corner into the sitting room.
“Oh its Alexander! Good to see you again!” she said, equally as happy as her sister to see him.
“And this is Jay, not Jack” Martha said, chuckling lightly and I mentally willed her to stop mentioning the issue.
We all sat down on the fancy couch, not before Martha put on tea and fetched us some biscuits.
“So..” Amy started, wiggling her eyebrows at Alex, “Have you found your special someone yet?”
Alex choked on the biscuit he was currently chewing and turned red, “Uh.. yeah.. I think I might have actually..”
At first I got a horrible feeling in my gut. Jealousy? Man.. I guess I really did like Alex.
But before my thoughts could wander any more he flicked his eyes to meet mine, and for a second I could have sworn he meant he had found me as his special one.
If only he only knew..
Both women shrieked in joy, probably giving themselves near heart attacks.. I guess gossip had gotten harder to come by since I left this little town.
“Who is she!” they squealed, seemingly shocked as well.
“Well..” he started, and I chuckled to myself. If only they knew.
“I haven’t said anything yet, so I can’t tell you. Once we get together though, we’ll probably move away. I don't think the town would approve of us”
I smiled to myself, he had worded everything perfectly to be either a guy or girl, and he had already told me he had no interest of the female persuasion... so did he really mean me?
“Oh no! Alexander, darling! If she doesn’t have a lot of money, that's okay! No one here will judge you! If you love her, if doesn’t matter if she has a bad past. We’ll love her too!” Amy exclaimed and Martha nodded along enthusiastically.
Alex smirked, “Well.. I guess I can think about it, and maybe we’ll even talk about it. Who knows..”
I smiled to myself; my wish was coming true.
Maybe I actually had a chance in this after all.

@IfIWereATurtle
I know! I was like.. Jack why.. "y u do dis?"
I laugh way too hard at my own little stories. This is the epitome of having no life whatsoever.

I read this on my phone and when Jack introduced himself as Jack I threw my phone to my lap and did a facepalm. ..
yes, I got some weird looks :')
