Responsible
Letter
Trigger warning: anxiety and panic.
Alex
A week later, Alex was on his way to the mailbox. It was a rainy day and he didn’t really feel it. But he had to do it, so he took the damp newspaper out of the box and breathed in the rainy air. He checked for any other mail, and there was something, a letter. He took it out; it didn’t have a stamp or anything on it, just Mr. Gaskarth written on the front in neat handwriting.
He decided to go back inside and read it. He set up the kettle and opened the envelope. He sat down and poured the hot water into the tea can.
“Dear Mr. Gaskarth,
I just wanted to let you know that what you are doing is not excusable in God’s eyes. You should be free of any relationship.”
No signature. Just the letter. Alex read it again and panic started to rise in his chest. What if he was going to be forced to leave his community now? And Jack? And he wouldn’t have a job anymore and Jack and… Alex was panicking pretty badly. What was he going to do?!
Luckily, Jack appeared.
“Alex, wanna cuddle?” he asked, not realizing in what mood Alex was.
“Yeah, I’d love to,” Alex replied with a bit of a fake smile. Maybe cuddling would help make it a real one.
