Jack

After service, the two shared a tea again. This time, it was a black tea. Alex seemed pretty upbeat but Jack got more silent by the second. He kept up a façade though, trying his best not to show what was going on inside him, fake smiling and the like. But he just couldn’t force himself to be communicative when he felt like this.

Alex looked at the clock. “Jack, it’s 8.30 already. Do you want to go?” he asked softly.

“N-no to be honest… But I know I have to,” Jack replied scaredly.

“You can stay with me if you want to. Or I can go with you,” Alex offered.

“I don’t know…”

“How about I come with you so I can get a clearer image of the whole situation and also I can keep Matt from losing it?”

“He’ll lose it as soon as you’re gone then,” Jack said bitterly.

“Maybe I can talk to him.”

“Believe me, Matt is not the type to talk things out,” Jack scoffed.

“I can at least try,” Alex said.

“Please don’t get hurt,” Jack begged.

“Don’t worry about me,” Alex smiled. “Let’s go!”

“Yeah…”

They took the car again because Alex felt that it would be a safe place to run to in case Matt would get angry. Also, Jack was still not really in the best shape so he preferred not having to walk, although he wouldn’t ever have admitted that publicly.

Alex pushed the door open. Jack had stopped talking about 5 minutes earlier.
