The moment he asked Alex to sleep with him tonight, he regretted it. What if Alex thought he was a creep now? He started to panic a little, sickness and hotness rising in his chest. But then Alex rubbed his neck and replied.
“Uh, sure,” he said. And Jack was incredibly relieved.
“I mean only if it’s really, really okay with you,” Jack added, scared Alex didn’t really want to do this.
“It is, don’t worry,” Alex replied, a cute smile on his face.
“Thank you so much,” Jack said in a hushed voice, now looking back up at Alex.
“Get ready for bed then,” Alex said with a smirk.
Jack nodded and got up. He picked up his bag and got out his toothbrush but didn’t find any toothpaste.
“Alex? I can’t find my toothpaste… could I please use yours?” he asked, blushing. He felt a little embarrassed.
“Sure thing, just look for it. It should be somewhere on the sink,” Alex answered, peeking out from behind the door.
“Thanks!”
“Oh yeah, you can use the shower if you want to,” Alex added.
“Thanks a lot.”
Jack got ready for bed, showered for a tiny bit and then got dressed in his pyjamas, a t-shirt and boxer shorts. He hoped Alex wouldn’t see it as inappropriate.
“Alex? I’m ready,” he said shyly. Alex was already in bed, reading a book.
“Oh hey. So since this is queen size, we have a bit more space. Pick your side and I’ll take the other one,” Alex said, looking up.
“I’ll take the right one? Towards the door?” Jack said. Alex shuffled a bit and Jack got into the bed. “Thank you so much,” he said.
“No problem. Do you want me to turn off the lights?” Alex offered.
“Not necessarily. I’d love to read a bit too,” Jack replied.
“Sure thing,” Alex said. He secretly watched as Jack got out glasses, put them on and pulled out a book.
“Lord Of The Flies? Nice,” Alex said, spying the title.
Jack thanked him and for a while, they were just reading. But then Jack decided to sleep and Alex was tired too so they turned off the lights.
“Goodnight,” Alex said quietly.
“Goodnight, sleep well,” Jack replied.
“You too, thanks.”
“Alex?”
“Yes?”
“Did you know that I’m the happiest I’ve been in a long time when I’m with you?” Jack said softly.
“No but it makes me incredibel happy to hear that1"
Jack fell asleep with a smile on his lips and feeling the happiest he had in a long time. He didn’t know, but Alex’s lips were curved slightly upwards too when the older boy drifted off to sleep.
