Be Careful What You Wish For
Chapter 7: A Sigil in Flesh
Selene holds in a scream as she feels something burn into her flesh. She’s never experienced pain like this, and it came so suddenly. What’s happening? What is this? When the pain finally stops, she looks down at her wrist to find a sigil. She doesn’t know what it means, and she doesn’t know if it’s good or bad. It hurt like hell, but that doesn’t necessarily make it a curse or something. This could just be the only way it could appear on her body. It’s not like she knows the witch that did this to her.
Wait. Someone had to have done this to her. Nothing she has done would have caused this to happen. Tarot cards and reading her mother’s book wouldn’t have done this, and her wishing spell happened a while ago. This is something completely unrelated.
But why would someone do something like this? Who would even do something like this? The only other witch that she has ever met is her sister, and she knows her sister would tell her beforehand. Why would anyone besides her sister cast a spell? There is the presence, but Selene has a feeling that they aren’t a witch. She not sure why she feels this way, but she does. Then who? Could it be from someone that her mother and father once knew? It could be that, but she doesn’t know why it would be now of all times.
Maybe she should tell her sister about it...
No, that is completely out of the question. She can’t let her sister know that she’s done any of this. Rose would probably be able to help, but to be honest, Selene would be embarrassed and annoyed that she could fix this herself. Her sister was always there for her when she was younger, but she’s been basically on her own for some time now. Plus, she doesn’t know how much trouble she would be in if any of this got out. It’s already bad enough that she might have possibly exposed someone that is not part of the magical world to magic. She’s unsure of anything else that she could get in trouble for. Even if Rose didn’t let anyone know what she had done, it would feel more real. She couldn’t pretend that none of this was happening and her fault, and she would feel extremely guilty or working magic with no knowledge of what she was doing.
Yes, she can’t tell her sister. Maybe if it gets far more out of hand, but right now, Selene is going to do this on her own.
Knowing that she would be unable to figure out what this sigil does without help, she decides to go about her day the way she always does.
Selene finds herself waking up. Why? There is no way that she has left long enough, and it’s probably still dark out. That’s weird. Selene can sense something. She’s too tired to be able to tell what, so she slowly opens her eyes. Selene blinks a couple of times, and then her eyes go wide when she sees what woke up her.
The blue flame is right there in her room, and she’s able to look at it without getting a searing headache. She studies it carefully as it appears to be going through her stuff. Well, she definitely won’t be able to tell who it is just by sight. It’s face is just the same blue flames as the rest of it. The only thing that she can even look at is it’s profile and body type. This person appears to be a male and is tall and lanky. That makes things a bit easier, but there are still so many people that that could easily fill. Although the fact that this man is human does lower it even more. She knew that he was probably human, but now she can tell. Even half-elves have a specific point to their ears.
“Hello,” she hears herself call out. “Blue flame person?” The figure turns around quickly. Selene almost swears that she can see a surprised expression on it’s face. “Um, who are you? What are you doing here?” The flames appear to look more like a face, and the mouth opens, but nothing comes out. The figure tightens its fist in annoyance. “I might be able to help us communicate.” Selene quickly opens the end table by her bed and pulls out a pendulum and a cloth with answers on it. “We can use these.” The figure makes it’s way over to her, but as it does, it slowly starts to disappear. “Wait. Come back!”
Then it’s gone.
Selene wants to pull her hair. She was so close to being able to figure out what is going on, but of course, it doesn’t work out. But... Selene quickly goes over to her desk and grabs a notebook and pen. Let’s see what she knows now.
Sex is male. I get this feeling that his gender is as well.
Tall.
Lanky.
Definitely human.
He feels like someone not from the magic world as well.
Definitely not her mother...
Knowing that there is no way that this is her mother, she feels saddened, but she continues on.
Was looking through my stuff.
Selene looks at what is on her desk and finds that one of her other notebooks is open. She also sees that the picture of her mother has been moved slightly. The letter that she kept by it as also been moved. It’s no longer in its envelope either...
Possibly read the letter I kept from Rose.
Possibly knows my first name now.
It’s a start, but the puzzle is still not solved.

I actually didn't plan on showing more of a reason of why she is the way she is, but it ended up getting written somehow. lol. I can see her reasoning for stuff, but she is still a bitch about it all. At least the have the summer together. I just love how Rose was taking lead with that. lol.
I'm currently trying to decide on if I'm going to add one scene or not, and then I should be able to plan out the next chapters better. The next one is easy, but I'll need to watch the pacing if the one scene is added. This week I have to write up the first draft of my short story for my writing class, so I'm probably just going to plan out the chapters this week.
And no problem! I actually find it so interesting to go back to my old stuff. I keep all of my old stories and ideas in case I want to reuse them or just look back. Fan fiction is what got me really back into writing as a sophomore, so no matter what, it's always going to have a place in my heart.
