Be Careful What You Wish For

Not being able to get any sleep has turned into somewhat of a bore. Jack may have the time to work on anything in those hours, but he’s too tired to do anything really productive. In fact, he’s already binged watched two shows from start to finish. Currently he is just looking himself up on Tumblr. So far it’s not that bad. Most posts are just pictures of him and the band and... Wait. Is that written porn? Yeah, maybe he should stop this before he sees anything worse. Nah. He can go a bit further.
Just as he scrolls past another short story about himself, his phone goes off. Well, at least he doesn’t have to look at this stuff to keep him preoccupied; hopefully. He picks his phone up off the table to find a message from Alex.

Alex: I just got this amazing idea for your sleeping issue. How about I come over later to tell you about it?

Jack: Sure? I don’t have anything planned.

Alex: Alright. I’ll come over once I finish watching this documentary about space.

Jack: K.

Well, that didn’t fix his current predicament. It will probably fix it in an hour or so, but Jack doesn’t really want to wait that long. With a sigh, he turns on Netflix and begins to watch yet another show.
It doesn’t take long before his eyes become droopy. He didn’t think that the first episode of this show would be more subtle. It’s all introductions to the plot and characters but without the piece that pulls you in. Or maybe that comes in the second half of the episode.
Snap.
What was that? It sounded like a picture being taken.
Snap. Snap.
Is Jack just imagining this? Or is this just another part of the curse?
Snap. Snap.
“That one looks perfect.”
Jack is unable to stop himself from falling asleep...

Eyes open and look around. Where is he? He’s never seen this place in his dreams before. He’s among trees and lots of nature. Huh. Yeah, this is definitely new. In fact, this feels different too. It feels... real?
Snap.
Jack turns to the sound of the camera to find a petite girl facing away from him. Or at least, he thinks it’s a girl. The figure is entirely blurred, and Jack can’t make out anything about them besides they seem to have brown hair, are wearing a grey shirt, and appear to be wearing jeans.
He wants to question this figure because this is most likely the girl that he has been seeing in his dreams, but no words fall off his tongue. He goes to move, but his legs don’t budge. It is at this point that Jack realizes that he’s levitating. How is this possible? Is this another dream? No, it feels too real to be just a dream. He looks down at his hands to find that they look like blue flames. His eyes go wide as he finds that his chest and legs also appear to be made of some kind of energy. There is no way that this is just another dream. He always looks the same in those.
As if on cue, the figure grabs hold of her head before slowly falling down to the ground. Jack wants to reach out and help her, but he still is not able to move a muscle. She takes a glimpse of him, and Jack wishes more than anything that he could have finally see her face right now, but it’s just as blurry as the rest of her.
A strange sensation overcomes Jack, and he feels himself starting to drift away from this place. He doesn’t want to go though. He has to find out who she is! The words that fall off of her tongue send him back though, and he awakes in the same spot that he feel asleep.
Desperately Jack tries to fall back asleep. Maybe if he can go back there, he can figure this all out for once and for all. Maybe this nightmare will finally stop!
He can’t though. He keeps trying, but his mind is too awake now. Now out of all of the times, he has to be awake now? Why? Why must it be now?
Jack continues to try though and doesn’t stop until Alex gets there.
As soon as Alex enters, he starts talking. Jack can’t really hear him though because he’s honestly not paying attention. He follows Alex over to the couch and sits down next to him.
“So what do you think of that plan?”
“Huh?”
“Weren’t you listening?”
“No, not really.”
Alex’s face grows to one of concern. “Jack, are you alright? You look kind of pale.”
“You wouldn’t believe what just happened to me.”
“Try me.”
“I fell asleep, but instead of what normally happens, I found myself somewhere different. I was in the woods, and there was this blurred out figure taking pictures. I figure that they’re the girl that I’ve been seeing, so I tried to ask them something, anything, but I couldn’t talk. I tried to move, but I couldn’t move either. I was made out of what looked like light blue flames. Then the figure grabbed their head and fell down to their knees in what looked like pain. I wanted to help them. I really did, but I couldn’t do anything. Then they said something. I don’t know what it was, and I can’t remember it either, but the next thing that I knew, I was waking up here.”
“That’s some dream.”
“No, it wasn’t a dream. It felt too real to be a dream.”
“Are you sure? Dreams can be-”
“Yes, I’m sure. Ugh, I knew you wouldn’t believe something like that.”
“No, I believe you. If you were listening to anything I was saying while I was coming in, you would know that.”
“How so?”
“My big plan is to literally just take you to see a psychic.”
“A psychic. Really?”
“Yes, really. Don’t tell me you’re doubting psychics now with everything you’ve experienced.”
“I mean, seeing into the future versus casting a curse on someone...”
“Jack, just let me to take you see someone. They might be able to help, and neither of us know anything about anything that you’re going through.”
“Alright, but what if it doesn’t work?”
“I don’t know. Maybe we can find some occult specialist or some witches online. We just need to do something.”
“Alex?”
“Yeah?”
“Thank you.”
“Don’t mention it.”

Notes

Wow. It's been forever, but I have a new chapter for this. I also have up to chapter 15 planned out per chapter and the rest of the story planned out as well. (I don't know how many chapters will come after 15, so I didn't plan those out.) I also know how this story ends too.

The only thing that I can think of to point out in this chapter would be that I changed how Ghost Jack looks. Before I had him look more like a ghost, but I decided that what I wrote in this chapter looks cooler.
