I stood in the bathroom we shared, scissors in my hand and looked at my reflection in the mirror. I was average height and unlike Steph who had curves in all the right places and a tiny waist my body was more that of a sporty teenager, no big boobs, no big ass, and pretty straight in between. I had this weird wetsuit tan where my face, hands and feet had turned a nice shade of brown but the rest of my body was pretty pale. I had spent every day I could out in the ocean this year surfing even when conditions weren't that good I went bodyboarding. Just to be in the water made me happy. From all that sun and saltwater my originally middle blonde curls had turned into a bright golden blonde but very tangled mess that reached down to the middle of my back. The only feature that I really like about myself are my dark blue eyes which stood out even more now that I was so tanned. I never use makeup or paint my nails or even style my hair, I think that's just a waste of time. I am just not that type of girl.

Steph sat on the bathroom floor, resting her back against the bathtub hiding her face in her hands "you're sure you wanna go through with this?" she asked glancing through her fingers at me.

"Well, being referred to as 'Goldielocks' all the time doesnt really help your case when you want to be taken serious. And shit, its only hair I can grow it long again if I want to and I have split ends anyway." It sounded as if I was trying to convince myself so I let out a big sigh and stated " I think I go for just above shoulder length".

I started cutting away on my hair, styling a side parting and a pretty long side fringe. What I hadn't thought of was the fact that my curls now that they lost a lot of weight pulling them down sprung even more than before and I ended up with my dry hair just reaching my jaw line. It looked cute though I had to admit. I glanced down at Steph who had watched me intentely the whole time, raising my eyebrows in a silent attempt to get her opinion on my new style.

"uhm, well whatever you were trying to achieve with this I dont think it was such a good idea, it really looks cute but now you look even younger than before, actually you look like a really cute teenage surfer boy, if I wouldnt be in my twenties I so would have a crush on you." she giggled.

That's what you have friends for! thanks for the moral support Steph, really thanks a lot!

The next step in my preparations was packing my stuff for tour, that was an easy task because I had arrived in the States just a year ago and didnt own a lot of clothing anyway. Apart from that I did not really have a fashion sense so you could describe my style as just outright boring. I usually dressed in either boardshorts or jeans that were cut off above the knees and plain white or black muscle shirts, I know, so not cool but I dont really care. I dont own any shirts with print or graphics because I always feel like a billboard trying to make a statement. I took my laptop, my Phone, my headphones and threw in a wetsuit shorty in case I could go for a surf while on tour. Two pairs of converse, sorry I'm just not a Vans type. In fact I liked being barefoot whenever possible. Last item was a mesh hammock, a tip from my dad because he said "try sleeping outside as much as possible, a bus bunk is probably the most uncomfortable, noisiest and smelliest place you could spend a night in". So much about keeping up my spirits. I kneeled on my bag to close the zipper. Done. That was easy.
