Guts

Okay so not too confuse you guys but I am pretty much skipping 8th grade year. Nothing eventful really happened for us. We played the homecoming dance and they even let us play for the seniors prom! But other than that we pretty much have just been practicing every week and trying to get better. Jack and I have even been doing odd jobs for some extra money.

*Which he spent on Jasey!*
^ Okay I might have bought her some stuff and taken her to a few movies but the rest went to band stuff!!
* You were always buying her stuff! Food, chocolate, teddy bears, roses! You name it and you bought it!*
^Yea yea I think they get the point Jack
Anyway things get interesting during the summer after 8th grade. It was about a week after school got out and Jack and I were setting up the pool my parents had just bought when my mom led Marc outside. Something was wrong. He looked upset. I was just about to ask him what was wrong when he told us that he was moving. His dad was offered a better job in California and they had a week to pack and move. I looked over at Jack and he looked devastated. We were losing our bass player. He kept apologizing but it wasn’t his fault and we knew that. We told him to keep in touch. We were really going to miss him, he was a great guy.
Jack and I stopped putting up the pool and just sat there, lost. We weren’t sure what we would do. Here we had just started making a name for ourselves and this happens. We decided we would continue to practice and we were going to put up flyers for a bass player and hold auditions. We got ahold of Yanni and told him about it. He was upset to but said it would be the best idea. We set a date for the auditions a week from Monday in my garage. We decided to have Joe do the flyers since he was such a great artist.

My mom came out and told us to stop being lazy and get back to putting the pool together. After what seemed like hours, we got it up. Jack was staying the night so we decided to see who could last the longest in the pool for becoming a total prune. We were in the pool a good three hours before I had come up with a plan to win. Jacks one true weakness, FOOD!
I told him about how my mom had been making pot roast all day and that it should be done by now. I started telling him about the stuffing she made with it and before I could get to the potatoes, he was out of the pool and almost inside. He grabbed a towel and ran in through the back door. Little did he know, my mom had only made sandwiches for us. My parents had gone out to dinner and movie, but Jack didn’t know that. He came out livid. I swear I could see steam coming out of his ears. It was great. He blew up on me about how I shouldn’t tease him like that and I was a huge jerk and blah blah blah.

*You DO NOT tease me with food! It’s so not fair! Especially your mom’s cooking! My heart broke when there wasn’t any pot roast.*

*Yes! I ate all of the sandwiches! You deserved worse!*
^Aww I’m sorry baby, you know I love you though
*Yea Yea suuuureee you keep saying that… but you tease me!*
^I’ll make you a sandwich baby just stop being a drama queen!

After he ate all of the sandwiches we decided to invite some people over to swim. We called Yanni but he was busy with family stuff. Joe came over since he was finally off of house arrest and brought his new girlfriend. I called Jasey and to get me back Jack invited Maria. I really didn’t have anything against her other than she was the head cheerleader and we always so preppy and happy. It was kinda creepy. She asked if she could bring her brother over with her. Jack was hesitant but agreed. We didn’t even know she had a brother.

*Oh lookie Alex’s little green monster is coming out!*
^I wasn’t jealous, I was just stating facts.
*Yup you call it that all you want, we know the truth and you had a little green monster!*

Jasey showed up first since she lived the closest, then Joe and Kira, and last Maria and her brother. We had never seen him before. She introduced us, his name was Zack. Turns out he went a different high school because he lived with his father and Maria lived with her mother. He normally spent weekends with his sister. He was going to be a junior this year. So he was only two grades ahead of us. He seemed like a pretty cool guy. He did however look like he could snap all of us in two at any second. Turns out he did weightlifting, was a defensive linemen in football, and played basketball.

Needless to say I think Jacky-boy was a little scared. He had wanted to date Maria but with her brother being a beast his chances were looking slim. We all got settled into the pool and just hung out and talked. My parents showed up at about midnight and we were still in the pool. They were surprised to find everyone hanging out but they didn’t mind since it was summer and all.
Jasey asked when our next gig was and we had to tell everyone about how we were out one bass player. Zack was curious about our band. He didn’t know we played so we told him how we covered songs and played at the school dances. We told him we were holding an audition for bass players on Monday.

Maria got excited and told us Zack played a little bit of bass for church when they used to go. She told him he should try out. He told her he would think of it. I’m not sure about Jack but he was either happy we might have gotten a bass player, or scared because he would crush him when he found out he wanted to date his sister.

*I wasn’t scared! Have you seen Zack? He is only getting bigger!*
^Haha say all the excuses you want to baby, you were terrified!
