Jack was sitting on his bed, alone in the small room that he had occupied since the night before. He was talking into his phone, no one was on the other line, he was talking into a voicemail. "All I've done the last sixteen hours is sit here in this bed and have needles poked into me. I'm sick of sleeping, but on the upside May and Joe are coming to visit. They know that this is nothing, but May needs to get me OUT OF HERE. I know you can't listen to this right now Lex, but I really hope that you know that I love you. I can't stand not knowing how you are. Well I gotta go Alex. I'll talk to you later, Bye."


The doctor spoke, "Mr. Barakat, your sister came by a few hours ago while you were sleeping, she signed the release papers, from our observations you may leave now if you see fit. Your friend is on the third floor, that's the third floor.CCU. You'll have to ask the nurse where his room is."

Jack nodded, "Thank you Doctor Mayue. I'll be going now."

Jack walked down the hallway that seemed to drag on forever, his feet couldn't move fast enough, he couldn't think about Alex enough. He got to the elevator and pushed the down button. He was four floors above Alex. Once one of the elevators dinged he rushed inside. There were two doctors standing there, talking about a patient or something. Jack didn't care, they weren't Alex. He was practically jumping up and down in the elevator. His feet bobbing up and down from his heels to his toes and back and fourth again.

Jack talked aloud to himself "Could this thing be going any slower? Come on, I've got someone to see, to make sure is okay. Come on you stupid thing."

Bing- went the elevator only the fifth floor. Jack decided to get off now, he couldnt take the anticipation of the elevator, he decided to just take the stairs the two floors down. He found the nearest stairwell and rushed down it.

Pat Pat Pat Pat Pat went Jack's shoes as he flew down the stairs. He lost his footing and fell down about three stairs. This would not stop him. He wiped his bloodied nose and continued running down the stairs. He got down the stairs to the third floor. He had to walk down a long hallway that was carpeted unlike the rest of the hospital floors. Jack walked calmly down the hall, it was quiet, there was no rushing in the halls like the rest of the hospital. He knew that it was all chaos on the inside. Jack pushed the enterence button. There was a round creme color desk with papers and people standing, walking and sitting around it.

Jack cleared his throat, "Ex-Excuse me, ma'am?"

"Whatcha need kid?"

"My boyfriend was taken here last night, he had gotten shot in the chest. Alexander Gaskarth, I was wondering which room he was in."

"Gaskarth... Gaskarth." The large woman wearing a Spongebob Squarepants scrubs top, paused and looked down at her computer and typed some letters in. "Sorry sugar, he's still in Critical, no visitors aloud. There's a family room outside, you can wait there if you would like. Do you know where the cafe is?"

"I'll find it if I have to thank you ma'am." Jack nodded and left through the heavy doors again.

Jack thought as he sat down at a table. "What am I going to do now? I don't have my car, or cash. Damn I'm hungry." Jack pulled out his cellphone and called his sister May.

ring, ring, ring.

"Hey Jacky, how ya doing? I stopped by but you were asleep. What's up?"

"Are you still in Baltimore May? I was wondering if you could take me to Alex's house so I could pick up my car and stuff?"

"I don't see why I couldn't, I'll be there in like twenty minutes. I'll call you when I get there, Okay kiddo?"

"See Ya Then."
