Holly awoke under the covers of Alex’s bed, shaking her head and seeing Alex cocooned in a blanket while his head rested on her shoulder blade. She chuckled a little and let her head sink back into his pillows. She was too comfortable to move.
Or maybe she was just too overjoyed at everything that happened in just a day.
“Hey,” she heard him whisper, causing goose-bumps to rise on her neck. “Wakey, wakey.”
She giggled, turning her head towards him. “I’m awake, I’m awake.”
He brushed a few pink and blonde strands from her face, kissing her nose. “I love you.”
“Ten times you’ve said that in one day? You’re on a roll.” She said, and he laughed in response. “And I love you too.”
He smiled as she said it, his stomach welling up with butterflies. Just hearing her say it felt … right. Like those words were meant to fall from her lips for only him. “We should do something today.”
She groaned while closing her eyes. “I’m too comfortable.”
“Exactly the reason why we should do something!” He smiled, sitting up from his spot and walking across the room to his closet.
She sighed and sat up, pulling a sheet to cover her chest, even though she knew he wouldn’t mind at all. “Can I at least take a shower first?”
“I was wondering what smelt so bad.”
She stood with a sheet wrapped around her, gathered her jeans and random shirt of Alex’s off the ground, and walked to the bathroom connecting to his bedroom, hitting his head in the process.
“Hey!” He exclaimed rubbing his head. He got her back by slapping her rear when she passed him, muttering, “Hit the showers, miss.”
“Ha-ha, aren’t you funny,” she stuck out her tongue. She closed the door for a second before cracking it open again to throw the sheet wrapped around her out the door. Alex cleared his throat, and she popped her head out of the crack with raised eyebrows, careful not to expose herself.
“Do you―um―need help working the showers?”
“You know, I was going to ask you, but then you cracked that joke and I kind of figured it out on my own.” She smirked, causing him to groan as she shut the door.
After letting the warm water and soap cleanse and relax her, Holly grabbed a towel and stepped out of the shower. She now felt fresh and rejuvenated, and that was her favorite state to be in. She quickly snugged on her skinny jeans and one of Alex’s Blink 182 shirts before applying some mascara to her eye and a little shine to her lips from some gloss she forgot she had in her back pocket. She blow dried her short hair and shook it out, smiling at herself in the mirror. She understood why she was so giddy after everything that happened today, but she needed to calm down a little. This over-excitement was getting the best of her.
She stepped out the bathroom, seeing Alex sitting on his bed with a big smile on his face and a fresh pair of clothes on his body. “You aren’t going to shower?” She raised a brow.
He shrugged. “I can take one later.”
“You’re going to smell like sex,” she smirked, walking over to him as he stood and hooking her fingers around his belt loops.
“That’s my scent of choice.” He muttered as he kissed her nose, leaving her giggling. “C’mon,” he said, entwining their fingers, “let’s be active.”

Holly had a hunch as to where Alex was driving them to, and she was correct once they got there: the beach. He took her to the beach they went to on their first public date. She grinned big as he led her out of the car, taking the same path they did months ago. They took off their shoes and hopped over a big grass patch, careful not to get themselves dirty. They didn’t race like the last time, and instead, Holly was surprised when Alex picked her up bridal-style and ran to the water.
“DON’T, ALEX!” Holly shrieked with fits of laughter in between.
Alex splashed his feet in the icy ocean, just as a huge wave charged at them. He was instantly soaked below his waist, causing Holly to say, “I told you so!”
“But, hey, at least I’m clean now.” He laughed, suddenly dipping her body down, but not enough to put her in the water, and pressed his lips to hers.
He carried her back to the sand, throwing their bodies on the ground so she could curl into his side. She smiled as she rested her head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat while his hand played with her hair. These were moments she definitely cherished the most. What a day, she thought.
“Holly?”
She started tracing circles into his chest. “Yeah?”
“After everything that’s happened, I think we might need to set some rules.”
She sighed. And now it’s ruined.
“Like what?” She asked lowly, careful not to show her annoyance.
He looked up at the sky, deciding, before he rolled and laid on his side next to her. “Things like … we can’t hang out after school anymore.”
Holly blew out a sigh as she brushed her thumb over his arm muscle, something she did to calm herself down. “A month has passed without those football players or anyone saying anything. Why are you so worried?”
“It’s just …” He looked away. “You and my job are my top priorities, Holly. If I screw one up, everything is screwed. I know I messed up and I was probably thinking irrationally a month ago when we broke up, and because of that, I could barely focus on my teaching and helping students. If we get out to the school, everything is going to be a living hell.” He sensed she might be a little angry at his last statement, so he continued, “I want us to last, Holly, you know that. But the school board and the police think way differently. We can’t risk it.”
She nodded. “It’s okay, I get it.”
He leaned down and kissed her lips softly, loving the sweet taste of her cheery gloss. “Please, don’t be mad at me.”
“I’m not mad at you,” she smiled softly. “So, what are the rest of the rules?”
He bit his bottom lip while he thought. “We can mostly only visit really unknown restaurants and my apartment.” He then glanced at her, taking in her green orbs. “This will probably be our last time at the beach, sadly.”
She snuggled her head into his chest, breathing out, “Okay.”
“Okay?”
She nodded into his shirt. “Not to be totally cliché and cheesy; you’re the best thing in my life right now. I don’t have everyone like I used to, and it’s not like my parents give one flying fuck. I’ll go with anything right now; I just want to be with you.” She then laughed at herself. “Cue a romantic boy band ballad for background music.”
He chuckled. “I love you, Holly Wolfe.”
“I’m like disease, Alex. You can never get enough.”

Holly's outfitYay, new chapter! Sorry I'm getting sloppy with posting, I've just been surprisingly busy. My grades have also kind of plummeted so I'm trying to focus on school a little more, even though it's so hard to.
Also, thank you for all the comments on the last chapter! I'm so happy that you guys didn't think it was bad because I was incredibly nervous to post it xD
