Worse Than Nicotine

My Friends Are a Different Breed

Holly hopped down her front steps and quickly ran across the street, just in time to catch her bus. The school bus was it’s usual crazy self, paper flying everywhere while pens were thrown at the freshmen’s heads. This sight just reminded Holly how glad she was to not be a freshman anymore.

As soon her feet hit the aisle, she saw her best friend, Hayley, waving her hand around in the back. Holly chuckled and made her way back there, taking her saved seat next to her best friend. Everyone knew that that seat was saved for those two girls, and anyone who took it would probably get punched in the face by Holly.

“Your hair’s new!” Hayley gushed, playing with the new pinks streaks in Holly’s natural blonde hair.

“Got it touched up yesterday,” Holly smiled and pulled out the headphones from her ears.

Hayley continued talking about her weekend and this date she went on that consisted her walking up the streets of Baltimore with her new boy-toy. Holly would tune her out a little at these times, seeing as Hayley was very pretty and she managed to find a lot of guys she liked. But it was Hayley’s next sentence that seemed to catch her attention.

“I guess this guy’s just … right.” The redhead smiled big.

Holly lifted a brow. “Explanation?”

“I don’t know,” she blushed, “he’s just really sweet and he likes me for me. Plus he has his own band and knows Brendon.”

Holly grinned a little at the mention of her boyfriend. “Who is this mystery man?”

“His name’s Chad, and he’s the lead guitarist of his band called New Found Glory.”

Holly nodded in approval. “Seems like you got a good one, Hayles.”

“Maybe as good as you and Brendon.” The girl nudged her friend.

“Maybe.”

---

Holly opened her new locker for the year while Hayley babbled on about Chad. This year was going to be different. She was finally a junior, she had her best friend by her side in most classes, and she had an amazing boyfriend that she’d known since they were kids. Things were finally going right in her life.

Just as she thought of him, she felt a pair of hands pull her away from her locker and into a man’s stomach. She smiled and turned her head. “Hey, Grab-Hands, you’re acting like I didn’t just see you last night.”

Brendon let her spin around and plant a small peck on his lips before letting her continue to put books in her locker. “What can I say? I can’t live without my Juliet.”

Ever since their English class read Romeo and Juliet last year, Brendon constantly made references to the play and his relationship with Holly. He would make a great actor if he wasn’t in the school’s prized band, Panic! At The Disco. “If you make one more reference of that awful Shakespeare play to our relationship, I’m dumping you.”

Holly hid her face inside her locker as Brendon knelt in front of her, his hands outstretched. “But, soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Holly is the sun.”

“Brendon,” Hayley called, “I’d stop now if I were you.”

The boy took one look at his girlfriend’s annoyed face and mumbled, “Right.” He slung his arm around Holly as she closed her locker. “So how was your summer, Hayley? Didn’t see you as much.”

Just as Hayley was about to speak, Holly stopped her. “I got this.” She cleared her throat. “Me and Chad did this … Me and Chad did that … Me and Chad …” She then went up to Brendon’s ear and whispered something.

Brendon’s mouth formed an O-shape as he looked at Hayley. “Did you really?”

Hayley’s eyes widened. “What did you tell him?!” She started hitting her friend’s arms.

Holly chuckled. “Nothing, it was nothing!”

“Enough with the violence,” Brendon laughed. “What classes you guys have together?”

“Mostly all, thankfully,” the pink streaked blonde smiled and took her boyfriend’s schedule right out of his hands. “Wow, we actually have a class together for the first time ever.” She beamed as she pointed to the block with their shared English class.

“Speaking of classes,” Hayley tugged on Holly’s hand, “we need to get to music before we’re late.”

Brendon kissed Holly’s cheek as she was pulled off, the blonde complaining, “But it’s too early for classes!”

“C’mon,” the redhead dragged her friend, “I heard the new teacher’s cute!”

Brendon whistled after them and Holly spun to his face. “Try not to forget about me with the new teacher!”

Holly then winked and muttered, “Never.”

@gamble with desire.
AWWWW! That was one of the sweetest comment ever! Thank you so much <3 That really meant a lot to me, especially regarding the sex scene. I was afraid it'd be too awkward, but I was surprised at the good responses I got! Thanks again <3 :)

Okay so I'm really late on this, but I totally stopped reading fics for a while. But I still love this story so so much and I really liked your sex scene! I suck at sex scenes (no pun intended!) but yours was so detailed (but not grossly so) and really well paced and idek how to describe this but you got across really well that she was a virgin and how a virgin might feel if they were in this situation like you weren't all "yup this is sex I'm totally used to it even though I've never done it lol" without it being over-the-top if you catch my drift??

Anyway I'm done fangirling and I love the sequel a lot and you should update really soon!!!
