Chapter Thirty-Four: Welcome to the Gaskarth Family

"Fuck." Alex whispers as he wonders around his room, his phone in his hand. It's now 9:40 and Jack hasn't texted him. He began to panic, something he didn't like to do, and decided on waiting for five more minutes.

He grabbed his jacket, slipping it on and making his way downstairs. Three minutes had past, and Alex defiantly knew something was up. He thought of the worse, but shook his head to try to control himself. He quietly made his way to the front door, knowing his mum would be asleep because she worked early in the morning. He opened the door and stepped out into the freezing cold weather, pulling his hands up his sleeve as he shut the door. He then made his way down the street in the dark, hoping Jack would be okay.

As he got to Jack's house, he knocked on the door, then remembered his dad. He pulled his phone out his pocket, going on to Jack's contact.

It rang and rang, but there was no answer. He sighed, putting the phone back into his pocket. He placed his hand on the door handle, hoping it was unlocked. He pushed it down, and yeah, it was open. Alex let out a breath of relief, but still, little anxieties travelled through his body.

"Jack?" Alex whispered, looking around the living room, seeing about ten empty bottles of beer.

Alex checked the whole of downstairs, trying to ignore the massive stench of alcohol. He walked over to the stairs, taking a deep breath before slowly walking up them.

"Jack?!" Alex calls a little louder, looking down the corridor for any signs.

"Alex!" He hears a yell. His eyes widen and look through all the rooms. He gets to the last one, opening it, but it only opened halfway, something stopping it from opening fully. The first thing he sees is Jack's dad with a knife pushed in his forehead. He gasps, feeling tears in the back of his eyes. It was a horrible sight. The man had blood coming out his mouth and forehead, his limbs in an awkward position, his brown eyes open. Alex cringed, walking in and looking over to the thing that was stopping the door from opening completely.

"Jack?!" He gasps, quickly by Jack's side, looking at his boyfriend holding his belly, blood spilling over his fingers.

"Shit shit shit." Alex breathes out, quickly pulling his phone out his pocket.

"It's gonna be okay, Jack. It's okay." He says, dialing the emergency number, getting up and looking around for a thick towel. He quickly ran out the room, running over to the bathroom.

" Hello, what's your- "

"14 Thames Street. My boyfriend's bleeding badly, and there's a man dead with a knife in his forehead. Help, please!" Alex yells, entering the bathroom and grabbing a towel from the towel rack.

" Okay, sir. Calm down, we're sending an ambulance over now. " The lady tries to calm Alex.

"Hurry, please." He ran back to the room where Jack was. He declines the call, crouching down in front of Jack. He looked like he was in a lot of agney, and he is.

"Jack, hey, I need to put this over it." Alex says, directing to where Jack's hand it holding onto his belly. He nods, throwing his head back with a wince as he discarded his hands from the cuts.

"Fucking hell." Alex sighs, holding the towel tightly on the three deep cuts. Jack lets out a hiss, biting hard on his lip.

"I know, babe, I'm sorry." Alex says with tears in his eyes.

"Can you get up?" He asks, which Jack shakes his head at.

"Okay, they'll be here soon. Shh." Alex wiped Jack's tears away, kissing him on the nose. It hurt him every time he saw Jack in pain. Mental or physical. He just wished Jack didn't get all that pain. He didn't believe such a great guy like Jack should ever go through what he has. Maybe Alex wasn't there for Jack since the beginning, but he'll stay there until the end.

Two minutes later of Alex conforming Jack, telling him it'll be okay and that he's there, the paramedics enter the house. Alex calls for them.

"They're here now, Jack. You're gonna be okay." Alex cooed as the the paramedics came upstairs and into Jack's room.

"Oh God!" One of them gasps after seeing Jack's dad. The other paramedic came over to Jack, crouching down like Jack. She said something in her radio.

"Can you tell what happened?" She asks, a sad smile on her face.

An hour later, and Alex was in the ambulance with Jack. They only allowed him because his mum said she'll stay with him.

"Why did I let him go?" Alex asks himself, his head in his palms.

"Alex, don't blame this on yourself. I'm g-glad you did let me go, because, I thought I'd never hear the dad my d-dad said he loves me." A quiet voice comes from Jack, he winced again as a headache came rushing through his head.

It went silent from there, Alex crying softly in his hands, his mum comforting him. He felt like it was his fault for giving into Jack and letting him go back. But he knew if he didn't, then his dad would have hurt his family. He couldn't let that happen.

~~~
They arrived at hospital. Alex was a shaking and crying mess as him and his mum waited in the waiting room.
"Are you sure you wanna stay here, darling?" His mum asks, pulling her son into her side, rubbing his back.
"I-I promised him I wouldn't leave h-him no matter what." He sobs hugging his mum tighter. Isobel sighs, a small smile on her face as she rubs Alex's back gently.
~~~

"Alex, hon, wake up." Isobel nudges her son. Alex mumbled something under his breath, yawning as he opened his eyes. He squints his heavy eyes as he looks around the room before looking at his mum. He hummed then he realised why he was here.

"Is he okay?! Can I go see him?!" Alex asks, suddenly wide awake, looking at his mum with wide eyes. His mum nodded, and Alex gasped, getting up.

"What's the room?" He asks quickly, his fingers tapping against his thigh as he waits for the answer. He really wanted to see Jack.

"456" She smiles at her son's eagerness, and Alex runs off to the room.

~~~
Alex arrived at room 456, knocking before walking in quietly in case his boyfriend is sleeping. He creeps in, looking over at the boy on the hospital bed. He bits his lip, already feeling tears in his eyes. Jack's belly has a thick bandage around it, and he has IV's on his arms.
"Alex?" The caramel heard his name come out Jack's mouth. It made a shot of relief fly through him, knowing that Jack is awake and okay (ish).
"Yeah, it's me." He smiled, walking over to the chair beside Jack's bed, sighing. He still couldn't get the image of what he saw out his head.
"How're you feeling? Are you okay? Fuck, of course not. I'm sorry. I knew I shouldn't of let you go." Alex caught his tear as it started making its way down his cheek.
"Alex, i-it wasn't your fault. I-I promise." He says, wanting to reach over and hug Alex, telling him that it will never be his fault, but he knew he couldn't; not with a belly that has stitches.
"I just...I feel like I shouldn't of gave in that easily. Like, I felt like I could've persuaded you to stay, better."Alex sighs heavily, playing with his fingers as he looks down in shame. Jack looks at him sadly, hating how his boyfriend blamed all this on himself.
"Please stop blaming yourself for this, Alex. It's not, and it's okay, I'm okay." He answers just as there's a knock on the door.
"Come in" Jack yells just loud enough, his voice low and raspy. Alex looked up at the door through his eyelashes, seeing his mum walking in with a sad smile, but something happy in her eyes. Alex just ducks his head more, not wanting to look at Jack or his mum right now.
"Hello, Jack, how're you feeling?" Alex's mum asks, walking over to stand beside Jack's bed, lifting his fringe up to feel his forehead. Jack blushes as she does so, not having his fringe lifted up before.
"Mum, he doesn't have a cold! He's been basically stabbed!" Alex yells with frustration, before letting the tears fall, pulling his fingers up to his hair and crying softly into his hands. Alex's mum pecks Jack on the forehead before walking over to her son, hugging him.
"I'm sorry, Alex, I know you care about him a lot. That's why I've agreed to take him on." She whispers in his ear, rubbing his back, a grin on her face. Alex immediately looks up, shock all over his face. He opens and closes his mouth, trying to process what his mum had said. It all flew together when his mum stepped back, now standing in between both boys with a cheery smile.
"Jack...welcome to the Gaskarth family."
@Twat
oh Damn, sorry. Aldemar died because Jack had did what his father had done... Like, Jack had basically died for a moment, so Aldemar died and never came back when Jack did. I don't know if that makes sense. Maybe I should've included that.
