Chapter Two: The Light Behind Your Eyes

Be strong and hold my hand

Time becomes for us, you'll understand

We'll say goodbye today

And we're sorry how it ends this way

If you promise not to cry

Then I'll tell you just what I would say

"Alexander, wake up right now! I'm getting sick and tired of your laziness." Isobel, Alex's mother shouted at her sleepy son, who is refusing to get up.

"Why? What's the point?" He screamed back down at his mum. "What's the point? They are just going to be the same!" He angrily shouted. Isobel walked up the stairs, furiously. She was getting sick of her sons lack of effect to get up. She knew why he was acting this way though. She knew Alex didn't want to start his grievous day at school. She slammed the door open and Alex startled.

"Up!" She yelled, moving over to Alex's bed and ripping the covers away from him. He sat up and screamed, "NO!" and turned his head away from his furious mum, and placed it into his cotton-y, white pillow. He breathed deeply into it.

"Alex, I swear if I have to ring the school up to get someone to come over and get you up, I will," She made her point and went to Alex's closet. She grabbed one random band shirt from the thousands he had, and grabbed some skinny jeans along with it. She shuffled back to the bottom of Alex's bed and placed the clothes there. Alex only shuffled so he was now in a tight ball. She sighed. She knew what Alex is going through at his school. But there is little she could do. She couldn't afford to move again. He has gone through hell and back, trying to please everyone. But they just pushed him afar. They never knew what Alex was trying to do. They didn't know he was trying to be nice so they didn't have to go through what he had. He thought that being compassionate, and loving would make their lives easier. He didn't want them to do what his brother did. They just never realized and pushed, shoved and threaten the poor boy.

"Alex, I know you don't want to go, but come on. At least give it a try," She smiled weekly, sitting on the side of his bed. She shuffled closer to Alex and slowly rubbed circles on his back.

"I even got your clothes so you don't have to." She cooed. Alex sniffed and blinked a tear, before gently sitting up. He sat there starring of into silence before he spoke.

"O-Okay. I'll try." He sniffed.

Soon after Isobel had left Alex's untidy room, he got up and was hit by the new chilly air brushing on his broiling skin. He grabbed the neatly folded clothes on his bed and quickly got changed. He then scrambled to the bathroom to do the ritual he had got in to. He brushed his teeth, wash his face; to wake him up, brushed his hair and walked back to his bedroom. He searched high and low for his straighter but couldn't find it. He looked in his draws and didn't find it. He looked everywhere and still couldn't find it. He sighed in frustration and walked out his bedroom and down the stairs.

He walked to the kitchen and saw his mum preparing some cereal for him.

"Hey, mum, have you seen the straighteners?" He asked, still frustrated. She look up to him and nodded.

"They're upstairs in my room." She said quickly and went to the fridge to get some milk. He sighed and quietly walked back upstairs. He quickly walked into his mum's bedroom and instantly saw them on her mini-table by her bed. He fleetly picked them up and rushed back into his room. He sat on floor in front of his mirror (because the metal broke so he can't hang it up) and plugged the black straighteners in. Before he even let it warm up, he was dragging it slowly through his soft, caramel hair. Some parts he over- layered his hair. The straighteners quickly warmed up, and he was doing the same thing rapidly, but quicker. He had at least twenty minutes before he had to be at the bus stop (which was luckily right on his street) and he still hasn't ate his breakfast or filled his water bottle. He ran the hair straightener through his warm hair once more time ,and decided it looked okay. Though, he still hated what he looked like, but he decided it was good enough to make him look at least 1% attractive. He got up and turned the straighteners off by the wall and put the straighteners on the cooling mat. He walked downstairs quite quickly and entered the kitchen. There he saw a box of Krave; his favorite cereal, waiting for him. He licked his lips and made his way to the kitchen table. Yes, the kitchen was big enough for a small family sized table to fit in. It looked quite nice with it there. Without it, it just looked like a blob of emptiness.

Alex sat down steadily and smelt in the sweet smell of his most best cereal. He immediately picked up his spoon, and dragged it in the milk surrounded by chocolate cereals. He pulled the spoon up and dived it into his mouth, tasting the milk and chocolate, as it hit his good taste buds. He swallowed then repeated rapidly.

After he finished, he got up and went into the cupboard and found his water bottle and his lunch on the side. He ran over to the sink and placed his blue bottle under the sliver sink and turned the sink knob. He watched un patiently, tapping his foot against the ground and tapping his free fingers on the side. He sighed loudly, annoyed.

"Alex, you have to get some patients." Alex's mother laughed, entering the kitchen and grabbed Alex's bowl. Only the sound of water and his bowl and spoon clashing together could be heard.

Once his water bottle was filled, he tightened the lid and grabbed his lunch. He placed the stuff on his black rucksack and pulled it over his shoulders.

"I'm going now, mum, bye." He called, as he made his way to his door. He heard his mum say, 'bye, I love you.' back, and he stepped out his house. Suddenly, the breeze of late winter hit his body, turning it immediately cold. He quickly ran back in his house and stood right in the middle of the warm hallway before making his way upstairs.

"Alex, Is that you?" He heard his mum worry from the kitchen.

"Yeah, sorry. I forgot my jumper." He shouted downstairs. He walked into his room and saw his favorite Blink-182 jumper hanging up. He smiled as he grabbed it and walked out his room. He walked steadily down the stairs, trying to put his jumper on along the way. When he reached the bottom, his jumper was completely on, and he zipped it up.

"Bye mum, love you." He said quietly, and walked back outside. This time, it was less colder, but Alex could still feel the cold air trying to hurdle his body to make him shiver in pain from the chilly cold. He hugged his jumper around him and pulled his hands up his jumper. He slowly walked down the street to the bus stop. As he got there, he saw the familiar boy stood there. Though, Alex and the boy were never friends, he still complimented and greeted the boy. The skunk haired boy would never barely speak back, but when he did, it was below a whisper to the ear. He smiled as he saw the boy leaning against the pole. He hasn't seen him in two weeks; he hasn't seen anyone for two weeks. The two weeks Christmas holiday has been quite boring. Sure he got a iPod, a laptop, and some band stuff, but a part from Christmas, it's been boring.

"Hey, there." He smiled warmly to the boy. He didn't even know his name, but he would always say 'Hi'. The boy smiled weakly and looked down at the ground, kicking a stone. Alex frowned. He always wondered why the boy never spoke. It wasn't just Alex he didn't speak to, he didn't speak to anyone at all. The only thing he had ever said to Alex was a very quiet 'Thank you' when Alex helped him up because some jock pushed him on the school floor, in front of Alex. Alex starred at him, thinking. He wondered if Jack would ever speak back. The boy has been at this school only for a year, he wouldn't even answer the teachers. The teachers didn't even bother with him anymore, they gave up on him. Luckily, the boy was apparently getting good grades, and that's why they never really kicked him out for not answering the teachers. He always looked scared and sad though. Alex was the only one that noticed every morning.

"Are you okay?" Alex asked, nicely. As always, the skunk boy nodded to the ground. He barely even made eye contact with Alex. Alex calmly nodded, even though he didn't believe the boy and looked down the street to see the bus coming up. That's all he would say to the boy until the next day. He would smile at him and say some nice words in the corridors at school and in his lessons, but he wouldn't look at him or seem like he's appreciating the words. He smiled as the bus got nearer.

"Hey, wanna sit on the bus with me?" He asked, smiling. The boy stood there, making no move at all, until the bus was here and he nodded.

@Twat

oh Damn, sorry. Aldemar died because Jack had did what his father had done... Like, Jack had basically died for a moment, so Aldemar died and never came back when Jack did. I don't know if that makes sense. Maybe I should've included that.
