The Rock Show

The Verdict

For someone so “evil,” no one could believe that Lisa was apparently crying in a potter-potty stall all day. The thought made Victoria laugh, as heartless as it sounds. (But, hey, the girl did blackmail them all. AGAIN.)

The next day, Lisa stumbled to her boss’ small trailer. He had almost a mini carry-on since he was the big time manager and she was only the website and blog director. She didn’t care that she was walking around in her clothes from yesterday and her hair a mess. She wanted people to pity her, she needed pity right now after all that happened. She looked like she was making her “Walk of Shame,” which in some ways, she was.

And as if things couldn’t get any worse, the heel on her favorite red pump broke on her walk. She groaned loudly and almost started crying again, but she held it in. She held her broken heel tightly in her hand, imagining it was Victoria’s heart and she continued to crush the tiny object.
God damn, did she hate her.

“Hey, Lisa, what’s up?” Kellin approached, walking next to her side. Lisa ignored him, grumbling furiously. “Whoa, are you okay?”

“JUST GET OUT OF MY WAY!” She pushed him backwards and continued walking, leaving the singer shocked.

She arrived at her boss’ trailer and walked in, not expecting the sight in front of her.

Her boss, Mr. Pottor, sat at his personal table in the kitchenette, a small laptop in front of him, while Victoria and Alex sat opposite. She noticed an empty chair was left out beside her boss as her two former friends looked up at her. “Lisa,” Mr. Pottor called, “please, take a seat.”

The brunette’s mouth trembled as she sat next to him, looking at Victoria and Alex once again with confusion. “Wh―what’s going on here?” She asked.

“Well, I’ve recently heard some big news that involves you.”

Lisa gulped, but managed to remain her almost calm state. “Oh?”

Victoria hit her hands on the table. “TELL THE TRUTH, LISA.”

“She hasn’t said anything, doofus.” Alex gave the dark blonde a look, and Lisa did the same.

“I thought we were doing the Good Cop, Bad Cop routine?” Victoria raised a brow at him.

“FURTHER MORE,” Mr. Pottor spoke up, silencing the two across from him, “we need to talk about this.” He swung the laptop screen in her direction, instantly playing the footage from yesterday.

She sank low in her seat. “Oh … well …”

“Would you like to explain this?” He pressed on.

She absentmindedly started scratching at the paint on her nails. “Not really …”

“I would.” Victoria spoke up, and Lisa shot her a look, but the former friend ignored it. “It all started a couple years ago when Alex was dating Lisa and they moved back to our hometown. Something … happened, and it ruined all of our friendships forever. Lisa had been blackmailing Alex their whole god damn awful relationship to stay with her. Soon enough, Lisa and Alex were done and Alex and I met up again. We’ve been close since. Then on this tour, Lisa had set up a blackmail on all of us. She said if Alex and I were to get back together, she would get ATL kicked off of Warped.” Victoria looked back at the brunette, a look mixed with anger and satisfaction. “The end.”

Mr. Pottor let out a sigh. “You know, Miss Ruocco, when you said you had connections when I hired you, I didn’t know you had this many.” He shook his head. “Do you have anything to say for yourself?”

Lisa then smiled. “Yes, I do, Mr. Pottor.” She glanced back at the pair next to her, throwing them her best sympathetic look. “It was just a joke. I didn’t know I would be taken seriously.”

Alex opened his mouth to say something, but Victoria went first: “That’s a load of fucking bullshit.”

“Miss Hamilton―” Mr. Pottor was interrupted by her again.

“THE EVIDENCE IS RIGHT THERE ON THE VIDEO! WHY DIG YOURSELF A DEEPER HOLE?!” The dark blonde was standing from her seat, about to go at Lisa.

“Miss Hamilton, please sit down.”

Victoria grumbled but took her seat next to Alex again, noticing the way he instantly grabbed for her hand and squeezed it. Lisa saw it, and her heart tinged ever so slightly. “Can we just have the verdict, Mr. Pottor?” Victoria questioned.

He sighed, which Victoria noticed he did excessively. “Well―”

“Can I just have another minute to explain myself?!” Lisa’s voice came out more panicked than she intended.

“I think the video explains it all, Miss Ruocco.” He stared her down, and she felt small suddenly. “I’m going to have to let you go.”

Lisa abruptly stood, pointing the broken heel at the three of them. “SCREW YOU GUYS! I DON’T NEED ANY OF YOU! I’M A WRITER FOR BUZZNET. I CAN―”

“Um,” Victoria interrupted, putting a finger up, “no, honey, you can’t.”

The brunette’s face turned red. “Excuse me?!”

Mr. Pottor cleared his throat. “I have notified your workers at Buzznet, and they are relieving you of your job there as well after hearing this story.”

Lisa’s eyes widened, and Victoria stifled a small laugh. The brunette was speechless. She had nothing left. No job. No money. No power. She was … nothing.

Victoria smirked. “I think this is your cue to cry and run out the―”

But Lisa had already beat her to the punch, and was running out of the compact trailer.

“Have your stuff packed by tomorrow!” Mr. Pottor called after her, but she was probably too far away.

Lisa was done.
