Holding On To Keep This Strong

Finally Here

"Mom,I'm going out! Don't wait up!" Jack shouted as he made his way downstairs, Cassadee and Zack following right behind him.
"Got a hot date?" None other than Jack's step father said from his seat in th living room, winking suggestively.
"Maybe, not that it'd be any of your business anyway." The teen snapped, knowing exactly what game Billie Joe was playing. He'd been making remarks based around Jack's sexuality ever since he moved in and quite frankly Jack was sick of it.
"Touchy." The dark haired man said, barely moving to face his step-son. Jack rolled his eyes and motioned for his friends to follow him into the kitchen. It was beyond him how his mother had ended up with someone like Billie Joe Armstrong after being with his father for so many years. They were completely different, not to mention that Billie happened to be a bit of an asshole that was too full of himself. But he treated his mom well so Jack couldn't complain too much.
"Mom," Jack said softly as not to shock his mother who looked to be cooking something on the stove.
"Yeah honey?" She said warmly turning to face her son, directing a small smile at Zack and Cassadee.
"I'm going out. I don't really know when I'll be back though." His mom frowned at that for a moment but swated away her concerns. "You're almost all grown up. I can't really tell you that you can't stay out late. Just be safe and call if you won't be home at a decent hour or until tomorrow, okay."
"Got it. Bye-"
"Wait, take your dads old car. That thing hasn't seen daylight in awhile, you might need to get gas though."
Jack nodded wide eyed, grabbing the car keys from the counter not uttering another word before quickly leading his friends to the front door. His mother hadn't let him drive in nearly three months after he backed into the trash can and scratched her new car. This was pretty much turning out to be one of the best days of his life. "Hey, you look really nice." Alex greeted the teen who looked considerably different from earlier that day now wearing a light blue button up and tight fitting black skinny jeans.
"Thanks." Jack blushed as he stepped through the doorway, taking in the apperance of his teacher who also looked considerably different, more casual than he'd been at school earlier that day but still dressed up. "You look nice too." He said softly, peering down at the floor.
"Hey, wanna see something cool?" Alex chirped, sensing Jack's more than obvious nervousness.
"Yeah, sure."
"Come on." The teacher said, reaching for Jack's hand then leading him to the hidden stairwell in the far corner of his apartment. Jack's eyes lit up at Alex's clearly well planned set up on the roof top. There was a small table with two seats on either side of it, dead center of the roof top and quite possibly the most inviting blanket fort Jack had ever seen, staggered behind the table, all lit up by string lights and paper lanterns that were strewn across the roof.
"How long did it take you to do all this?" Jack said, still looking almost dumbfounded.
"Not that long. But we can't hang out up here just yet." Jack couldn't fight back the slight pout that formed on his face.
"Why not?"
"You'll see, come on." Alex said tugging lightly on the teens hand taking him back inside of the apartment. "Okay, you said you wanted pizza right? Well we're gonna make pizza." Jack raised a brow and eyed the counter that Alex had placed all of the ingreedients on.
"Are you serious?" He asked, not completely closed off to the idea but rather intrigued.
"Yeah, it'll be fun. Come on."
Instead of responding Jack simply smiled and let his hand slip from the teachers. He walked over to the sink and switched the water on. "You're not going to cook without washing your hands are you?" Jack teased as he began to lather his hands with soap. The elder rolled his eyes but traipsed across the kitchen to join his boyfriend. "So is this thin enough?" Jack asked, holding up his pizza dough. He had to have spent at least the last ten minutes trying to roll it out while Alex had already started to coat his with sauce.
"Yeah...but it's gonna fall if you d-" Alex cut himself off and began laughing when half of Jack's pizza dough fell back onto the counter. Jack turned to his fallen pizza dough a frown forming on his formerly smiling face. "Don't worry, we can just share mine. I can't eat the whole thing by myself anyway." Alex offered making Jack's smile return.
"Alright. But I really hope you weren't planning on putting that spinach on there." He said pointing to the small pile of spinach leaves Alex had set on the cutting board.
"Wouldn't dream of it." The teacher laughed, shoving the cutting board aside. Nearly an hour and a half later the pair were inside of Alex's carefully crafted fort looking at the stars through the small opening at the end of the tent and barely listening to the lull of Alex's playlist. Jack smiled contentedly, snuggled into Alex's side, basking in the warmth and comfort that the teacher's body provided.
"Hey, lets play a game of truth." Alex murmured, his fingers lightly dancing in Jack's hair.
"Truth?"
"Yeah its like truth or dare but it's only truths, no questions are off limits." He laughed half heartedly and nudged Jack as if to say you start.
"Okay...Why'd you decide to become a teacher and why English?"
"Well my mom was a teacher and my dad actually teaches at the university I went to. He's an English professor, so I guess you could say its in my blood. Aside from that literature is just so beautiful, the concept of someone putting their efforts into thousands of words that can make people they'll probably never meet laugh or cry and just feel. It's something truly amazing." Jack smiled at that, it'd been obvious to him before that English in general was really near to the teacher's heart, but he never looked beyond it being a hobby. But the way Alex sounded talking about why he loved what he did and why he chose it, now that was something Jack found astounding. "Anyway, I guess its my turn to ask a question." The teen nodded and snuggled himself a little closer into Alex's side. "What do you think the worst situation you've ever been in was?"
Jack bit his lip deep in thought though he already knew the answer to this question and seeing as lying to Alex really wasn't an option he let the words tumble out of his mouth. "I guess it would have to have been when my parents got divorced, the entire thing really. My dad moving out, mom wanting to move to a new house, mom marrying an asshole, not seeing my dad ever anymore, my brother moving out of the country. Really I think the worst part of it all was when my parents first told me. I was so happy that day, Zack had finally talked me into telling them I was gay because his brother told their parents the week before and everything turned out great for him. I thought that everything would just fall together after that night, but I was dead wrong. It sucked so much because just as I was going to tell them at dinner my mom said they had something to tell me first...Y'know they still don't know yet and that was three years ago." He let out a heavy sigh and shook his head, from what he knew about Alex he was processing everything Jack had just said in attempt to some up with the perfect response. But Jack really didn't want a response on it, he just wanted to hear Alex's voice saying something unrelated to his parent's divorce. "What about you, worst thing you've ever gone through."
Alex frowned for a moment, stilling the movement of his hand before beginning to speak. "My mom died when I was eighteen. Its part of why I stayed so close to my dad for college and when I moved, he's the only family I've got now."
"Oh...I-"
"It's fine Jack. You kind of remind me of her in a way." Alex laughed, beginning to run his finger's through the blonde section of Jack's hair once more. "Really, how?"
"She was always so curious about everything and when she was happy she'd smile and people couldn't help but smile with her. I see that in you too."
"Do you think your mom would've liked me?"
"Honestly, I think she would have loved you. I think my dad will too once he meets you anyway..."
"Oh yeah, and when will that be?"
"I don't know. Sometime after you graduate. Maybe a few weeks later, he's already planning on visiting in June so I guess when he's in town."
Jack nodded. "What about before I graduate?" He knew he was pushing it by asking but it couldn't hurt and he couldn't fight his curiosity. He couldn't help wanting to meet the parent of quite possibly the most flawless human being he'd ever met and the fact that Alex's father was all the teacher had as family made his urge that much stronger. Alex let out a breath and let his hand drop down to Jack's side.
"Let's save this talk for later, kay?" He stated gently, leaning over to nudge Jack's nose with his own.
"Alright." Jack sighed wishing he hadn't gone too far but Alex's pulling him closer showed he wasn't all that bothered by the teen's questioning. - Alex hugged a half asleep Jack into his chest and pulled the worn blanket thet they were snuggled under up to the teens shoulders. The temperature was starting to drop outside but Jack insisted on staying outside to count the planes that flew by. They'd only gotten to around twelve when Jack had started to drift off but Alex really didn't mind. He was just glad to have him there and so close, much closer than they could be anywhere else.
"Do you want to go inside yet?" Alex whispered into the teen's hair as he pulled the other's warm body on top of his own.
"No." Jack mumbled and raised a hand to lightly grip onto the fabric of Alex's shirt.
"Come on Jacky. It's gonna get too cold out for us to be up here all night." Instead of responding Jack simply wrapped his arms around Alex's neck as if to say carry me. Alex chuckled to himself but picked the teen up anyway and eased his way out of the tent, careful to not knock it down.
The teacher set Jack on the couch when they finally made it to the living room of his apartment.
"Hey, when do you have to be home?"
"Shit." Jack mumbled, his eyes snapping open. The teen retrieved his phone out of his pocket and turned to face his teacher who was crouching in front of the couch. "Uh...is it okay if I sleep over?"
Alex smiled and nodded, he'd love to have Jack stay for the night, the way he saw it the more time he got to spend with The teen outside of school the better. "Of course."
Jack returned the enthusiastic smile and dialed a number on his phone. "Voicemail." He grumbled with a roll of his eyes. "Hey mom, just calling to let you know I won't be home until tomorrow. I'll call when I'm on my way back. Love you, bye." Jack hung up his cell phone and sat up, still intently focusing on his teacher.
"Are you up now?" Alex teased.
"Yeah. I guess I am... Did you have anything else planned for us?"
"Nope, the rest of the night is up to you."
"Can we watch a movie?"
"Sure..." Alex trailed off his brows knitting together. "Kyle is probably going to be back home soon though." Yet less than a moment later the keys turning in the door said that Kyle was already back from his date with Travis, much earlier than Alex had expected seeing as it was only ten thirty.
"Oh, Hi Lex. Hi Jack." Kyle greeted them seeming rather startled at both Jack and Alex being there. "I'll just go to my room a-"
"It's fine Ky, we'll go watch movies in my room. You can have the rest of the place to yourself." Alex interject as the stood up and reached a hand out for Jack to take.
"Thanks Alex." Kyle offered a smile, for once being glad that Alex read him so well. "Trav says hi by the way." The teacher nodded and lead Jack towards his bedroom, in all honesty he could care less what Travis had to say to him. He simply wanted to see Kyle happy and not broken by the ginger haired man yet again. But odds were he'd see Kyle upset and broken hearted in a couple months and Alex didn't even want to think about that. He opened his bedroom door at the end of the hall and motioned for Jack to go in past him. Jack tugged at the sleeve of his shirt trying to distract himself from his nerves. He was sure Alex wasn't expecting him to put out so to speak but he couldn't help but be set on edge. The last time he'd gotten close to someone was freshman year and he'd never gone all the way with that boyfriend or any of the others before him, needless to say being alone in his teachers bedroom, on his bed, and having already established that he was staying the night had Jack on pins and needles.
"Okay, I finally got my account to open." Alex said from the small desk in the corner of his bedroom, starting to get up from his seat. He picked up the laptop and brought it over to the bed handing it off to Jack. "You can pick the movie, is it alright if I go change?" Jack nodded and attempted to smile confidently but that confidence did not shine through and all of his bubbling nerves did instead.
"Hey, you know you don't have to be nervous around me right?" Jack nodded and bit his lip. Even if he knew there was no reason to be nervous with Alex he couldn't help it. He was clearly callow in comparison to the teacher and that made him ten times more self conscious than he normally would be.
"I can't help it. I don't know, I've never let anybody this close before and I-I've never-"
"Hey," Alex cut him off taking a seat next to the teen, lacing their fingers together. Having caught onto exactly what Jack was fretting over. "You know I would never rush you into anything you're not ready for. I like you too much to mess this up with something stupid like that. Besides this is just the first date, you've got all the time in the world for that, okay?" Jack smiled and rested his head on the teacher's shoulder.
"Thanks for being so understanding Alex."
"No problem Jacky." He chuckled, planting a kiss on Jack's forehead.
"Do you need a change of clothes for the night?"
"Yeah." Jack stated, much more confident than he'd been just moments before.
"Okay, lemme get you some sweats and a shirt."
"Just a shirts okay, I decided to wear boxers instead of panties tonight." Alex rolled his eyes but didn't fight back the laugh that was bubbling in his throat. "Darn, I was really hoping I'd get to see you in lace." He played along, already making his way towards his dresser, set against the far wall across from his bed. Alex threw an old tee shirt the teens way holding his own in his other hand. "Be back in a sec." Said Alex, going into the small bathroom connected to his bedroom. Jack smiled in the direction that Alex had disappeared into before beginning to peel his own clothes off and pulling Alex's tee shirt over his head. His anxiety seeming to completely wash away, excitement taking over yet again. He wanted to make the most of the rest of the night with Alex, especially since nights like tonight would probably be scarce in a secret relationship such as theirs. So with that in mind he'd decided their movie would be the one watching them when Alex returned. "Did you pick a movie out?" Alex said through a small yawn as he made his way to the bed where Jack was sitting.
"Yeah, Waiting For Forever." Jack smiled, he'd watched the movie with Zack a few times where the older teen cried like a baby, although he still claimed to have gotten something in his eye. "It's really cute, I bet you'll like it."
"I guess we'll have to see." Alex crawled into the open side of the bed and rested his upper body against the headboard, opening his arms motioning for Jack to settle into them. So the teen did, placing Alex's laptop onto the bed so he could curl into the teacher's side. After about fifteen minutes of the movie Jack had grown bored of it and was desperate for something to occupy his attention. And what -- who -- was suited for the job was no other than Alex. The teen adverted his gaze from the laptop screen and onto the teacher's perfect Jaw line before bringing his hand up, brushing his long fingers against Alex's smooth cheek.
"M'bored." He whined, putting more of his weight onto Alex's body.
"Babe the movie just started."
"Yeah, a forever ago." Alex simply smiled and rolled his eyes, clearly intending on ignoring Jack's complaints. But of course Jack had already come up with a counter attack for that, he leaned forward and pressed his lips onto the corner of Alex's mouth. "Can we pretty please do something else?"
"And what did you have in mind for that something else Mr. Barakat?"
"I don't know..." Jack sighed, innocently looking down, his long lashes casting shadows over his cheek bones. And yeah maybe he was using his looks to his advantage but when Alex was cupping his jaw and pressing a soft kiss to his temple Jack really didn't feel bad about it. "Maybe, we could do a little more of this..." He murmured, brushing his lips against the teacher's before pressing them together almost harshly. But from Alex's hands automatically finding their way to the teen's hips it was apparent that he really didn't mind. Jack swung his legs around to stratle the teachers hips, their lips never parting but pressing together even more with each movement. Alex gave Jack's hip a light squeeze and pulled him even closer beginning to trail his hands along the teen's back before hooking his fingers at the hem of Jack's shirt. Even at this angle Alex was taking control - being the one pressed beneath Jack's body weight the teen couldn't help but find it impressive- moving Jack's hands where ever he pleased, biting down on the younger's lower lip, asserting his dominance through every action and Jack really didn't mind it. The teacher brought a hand up to tangle his fingers into Jack's hair, pushing the teen impossibly close, a slight smile forming in his lips. With no warning Jack pulled away, slightly panting for air but smiling nonetheless.
"You're a good kisser." Jack laughed, pecking Alex's nose. The elder simply cocked a brow, familiar unamused expression on his face. But Jack was growing to know that expression and contrary to what it looked to be Jack knew that Alex was everything but unamused.
"Don't you think I'm a good kisser too?" He teased, a fake pout occupying his lips. Alex laughed at that and brought his lips back to Jack's, rolling the younger's lower lip between his own before slightly bighting down and pulling away.
"You're a great kisser." He chuckled, running his fingertips along Jack's smooth cheek. "And as much as I love kissing you, there's a whole lot of a movie left to be seen."
Jack groaned and pawed his hands against the teacher's chest. "Come on Alex." He whined, until he noticed the small smirk settled on his teacher's lips.
"To be completely honest I like it whan you pout." The elder chuckled once more and kissed the pout right off of Jack's lips.
Jack smiled and shifted himself off of the teacher's lap to snuggle himself back into his side.
"You're an asshole, you know that?"
"Yeah, but you're still completely happy to have me, aren't you?"
Jack rolled his eyes and lightly shoved Alex away only to settle right back into his chest. But to answer Alex's question, yeah he was entirely happy to Have him all to himself.

Notes

I SAID I'D FIGHT BACK I DIDN'T SAY THAT I'D FIGHT FAIR...(ily if you know what that's from) anyways I'm sorry about this chapter too, I kind of just gave up on making a decent kissing scene so uh...yhupp. I hope this was somewhat enjoyable though and feedback, as usual, is welcome :)

Okay I normally cringe at student/teacher fics, but cuz it's a 6 year age difference, I gave it a shot. This story is so great! The ending is beautiful. My eyes are watering. Not even kidding.
