Holding On To Keep This Strong

Love You More

Waiting was not on Jack's list of favorite things to do which is why he wasn't very happy right now. He was waiting for Alex to come back, pacing the floor steadily and beginning to grow tired of it. He just wanted Alex to be there already so he could hold the older boy in his arms.

But it'd been an hour past since Alex said he'd come back home. And Jack was an hour past being restless.

He had at least expected Alex to call instead of just standing him up. Especially after sixth period that day, they had actually spoken and it wasn't awkward or anything. They seemed to be perfectly fine, Jack had even gotten a quick kiss from the elder before heading to his next class. So the reasoning behind Alex not being there and not calling just didn't make sense to him. But he did his best to not over think it because when Alex did come back...well he'd rather not be a bundle of nerves.

So he finally settled on starting his homework to keep himself distracted.

An hour and a half later and Jack was beginning to think that Alex really wasn't coming back until the sounds of keys in the lock made themselves apparent.

Jack quickly scrambled up from where he'd been sitting on the floor. And when he saw the honey blonde and brown haired man walk through the door he couldn't help but practically run and throw himself onto him.

"Lex..." He breathed, hugging the elder close, not wanting to let go. "I missed you, so, so much."

"I missed you too kitten...M'sorry for just walking out on you like that." Alex said, his breath tickling Jack's neck with each word.

"Its okay, I hurt you and I get it."

"No, I over reacted. I shouldn't have left, it was stupid and I'm sorry."

"Its okay...what took you so long to get back anyway?"

"I had a meeting with my boss, he cancelled last time I asked to see him and had a last minute opening. I'm sorry I couldn't call."

"Its alright, I'm just glad you're here." Jack said with a smile, finally letting go of his boyfriend. "What was it about?"

"The meeting? Nothing really, course change suggestions."

"Mhm." Jack nodded, not thinking anything of it, this wouldn't be the first time Alex's supervisor had made him late when he was supposed to meet Jack. As long as nothing was alarmingly abnormal he didn't care as long as he had Alex to himself.
-

A few hours later and the pair were cuddled in bed Alex hugging Jack close to his chest, the younger boy murmuring sweeet nothing's as he listened to Alex's steady heart beat. It was nice, being able to actually just lay there and be happy with each other, which had been something they'd missed for quite awhile. Being honest there had been a wedge between the two of them for a long time and tonight it finally felt as though it was gone.

Alex told Jack about staying at Oli's place and just how sweet Oli was. Which took a load of nervousness and pressure off of the younger boy's shoulders. Yet at the same time it placed worry over him too. Which made Jack feel bad for doubting that Oli was genuinely a good person but he couldn't help it.

Jack on the other hand had talked about his friends and how great they'd been and how much he'd missed Alex. Leaving out the small detail that he'd cried almost every night Alex was gone. He just hadn't felt right without him, so that completely scrapped any doubts he'd been having beforehand. But of course just like Oli it made him worry more about his and Alex's future together.

Jack shook himself from his own thoughts and pressed himself closer into Alex's chest.

"So...I was wondering if I could make thus week up to you Saturday night?" Alex said, breaking their almost silence.

"What'd you have in mind?"

"Well I was thinking we could have dinner and maybe write a song together again, you have to admit that was fun last time."

"How about we just start with dinner and figure it our from there?"

"You know I'm a planner though."

"Then surprise me, you know you're good at that."

"I guess I am aren't I?" Alex joked, pressing his nose softly against Jack's neck. "I missed this." He whispered a few moments later. "Just being like this with you...it hasn't been the same in months."
"I know, do you think we'll be happy with each other after graduation?"

"Yeah, we've just been through hell and back for the past few months. It makes sense that we haven't been totally happy with each other and second guessing."

Jack simply shrugged and laced his fingers with Alex's that were wrapped around his hip. Glad that this wasn't something routine or forced with them as it had felt like nearly everything was.

-

"I love you, Lex." Jack mumbled as he drifted off to sleep, pressing a kiss to the elder's inner wrist.

"I love you too, Jay." Alex replied, his voice rough and tired as though he'd just woken up. "More than anything."

Notes

The past few chapters have been hella short, buuuut that should change pretty soon cause a lots happening in the next few (Im excited...but kinda sad cause this feels like it's quickly coming to an end. Not that fast but still too fast lol).

Okay I normally cringe at student/teacher fics, but cuz it's a 6 year age difference, I gave it a shot. This story is so great! The ending is beautiful. My eyes are watering. Not even kidding.
