Holding On To Keep This Strong

Have a Little Trust

It'd been nearly a month since Jack and Alex's first date and everything had been perfect...or at least as close to perfect as things could get. Jack was getting out of his car that his mother had gotten him just last week, he was finally spending the night at Alex's again since their first date and this time he had a change of clothes. Jack couldn't wipe the grin off of his face the entire time he walked from his car and up to Alex's apartment. And really no one could blame him, he was dating quite possibly the cutest most sweet and perfect being on the planet, what wasn't to smile about?

"Hey babe." Alex greeted the teen, letting him walk past and into the apartment before shutting the door. "Hey Lex." Jack returned as he pecked Alex's lips with his own. "What're we doing tonight?"
"Really...I've got nothing planned aside from ordering take out."
"Good!" Jack exclaimed and lead Alex to the couch by his hand. He began speaking again once they were seated on the couch, fingers still intertwined. "I was thinking maybe we could do a little something to your walls." Alex cocked a brow, feigning confusion although he had a pretty good guess of what Jack was getting at. Jack pulled a few pint sized paints and some paint brushes out of his backpack setting them onto the coffee table. "No offense but your apartment is kind of dull...so I thought why not add something. " Bingo, Alex's guess was right on the money.
"I'm in." The teacher said simply, giving Jack a toothy smile that made his heart skip a beat.

Half an hour later the pair were sitting on front of Alex's living room wall painting the Alkaline Trio logo in silver paint. Of course things weren't going perfectly but they were having fun with it. Jack had already smudged some paint onto Alex's forehead by accident and in retaliation the elder painted a silver line across Jack's cheek. Needless to say they were making the most of it.

"I think it looks pretty good." Jack mused at Alex's newly painted wall. The pair stood back admiring their work at the least they were both pretty proud of themselves.
"It does." Alex smiled and linked his fingers with Jack's. "Why don't we go clean up though...I'm pretty sure this paint has already dried on my face." He laughed tugging on the teen's hand to lead him to the bathroom. Jack followed behind his boyfriend keeping their fingers intertwined the entire time.

Alex pressed a damp towel against Jack's cheek in hopes of getting the thin silver streak to wash away. Of course it was a bit of a project and wouldn't come off with just water. He sighed and began to put some soap onto the towel before attempting once more.
"There you go Jacky. Squeaky clean." Alex giggled after he'd gotten the paint off of Jack's face and set the towel on the edge of the sink.
"You've still got a little something on your forehead." Jack pointed out raising a hand to the silver smudge on Alex's forehead. Alex simply shrugged and picked up another towel. "Lemme get it." Jack offered, the teacher smiled and handed Jack the towel. In all honesty Alex found Jack adorable as hell when he was doing his best at being helpful-- or in general. "Okay, you're good." The teen said with a smile a few moments later.
"Thank you good sir." The elder of the pair joked already leading him out of the bathroom and back into the living room.
"Good sir?" Jack mumbled. "Since when do people call me sir?"
"I don't know. Oh, speaking of being called sir this girl in your class won't quit it. Its nearly every day now and its starting to get on my nerves." Alex said with an exasperated sigh as he plopped down onto the couch, Jack following suit. "And its like...creepy. Just the way she says it, I dunno it's weird." Alex rambled on showing clear disdain for said girl.
"Maybe she likes you." Jack pointed out beginning to snuggle underneath his boyfriends arm, bringing his legs to rest on top of Alex's.
"But I'm you guy's teacher why would she try and come onto me, especially like that?"
Jack laughed at that and cocked a brow. "Yet I'm sitting here in your apartment practically on top of you on your couch and I'm your student...oh and did I mention I'm also your boyfriend. Honestly I'm surprised no ones tried to come onto you until now." Jack laughed once again and draped an arm across Alex's chest. "You've got a point...but I don't know, you're different like you're not just another student...this would be...weird with somebody else." He said for lack of a better term.
"Well at least I don't have any competition." The teen mumbled with a chuckle and tilted his head up to kiss Alex's jaw. "Have I told you how happy I am to be with you?" Alex smiled at that and shook his head. "Well I'm really happy that we're together...you make me happy." Jack smiled coyly and buried his head into Alex's neck.
Even after dating Alex for almost a month he couldn't help but feel shy around him and right now was no exception.
"You're so damn cute, you know that?" The elder said smile evident in his voice. "I'm really happy to be with you too." Jack hugged himself closer to his teacher, feeling his face go red and shut his eyes tight simply enjoying the moment. Though it was already evident that Alex liked him --probably even more than liked-- the fact that he'd said it meant a lot more to Jack than Alex knew.
-
Jack laughed at Alex as he danced around his kitchen getting everything to make their breakfast.
"Babe can you toss the bread?" Alex asked from across the room.
"Yeah." He mumbled with a roll of his eyes as he tossed the loaf of bread from the island and into Alex's waiting hands.

Alex finished making their breakfast a short while later and set the plates on the counter nearest to Jack before resting a palm on the small of the younger's back.
"So, I was wondering what we should do later today, I've got papers to grade but they can wait." The teacher murmured lightly kissing Jack's neck and up to his jaw. In turn Jack couldn't help but tense up...this was the first time Alex had made the first move that was that forward. And they hadn't gone past kissing since their first date...needless to say Jack was nervous as hell in that moment.
Of course he'd been thinking about going further, who wouldn't when they were dating their hot teacher, but he hadn't brought himself to try anything nor talk to Alex about it either.
"U-uhm Lex...I'm,uh not sure about..." He trailed off and downcast his eyes to the black and white tiled floor. Alex pulled back and hooked a finger underneath the younger's head to make eye contact.
"Hey, I'm not rushing you. I'm just being to one to start things up for once...if you're not comfortable enough for that yet that's okay too you know?" Alex dropped his hand from Jack's face and brought it to the latter's hand. "I just want you to be comfortable with me, I know it'll take time but you've just gotta trust me alright?"
"I do trust you and I am comfortable around you...I-I'm just so nervous...I have thought about going further than we have I just don't know if I'm ready for that though." Jack sighed and leaned into the counter avoiding Alex's gaze although there was no hint of annoyance nor frustration in his eyes.
"We can work our way to that, you don't need to try and throw yourself into anything just for my sake...Listen Jack, I really don't want you to feel pressured about this or anything else for that matter."
"I'm not pressured... I guess I can't help but over think and freak out, I haven't seriously went out with anyone since my parents split...and to be with someone I actually like and trust, well I don't want to mess it up by jumping in too fast."
"I get that completely babe, just try to relax next time I kiss you, the whole nervous wreck thing really doesn't suit you." Alex joked with a small laugh as he kissed his boyfriend's cheek. Jack rolled his eyes but couldn't help but smile; he really didn't mind when Alex poked at him in fact he rather enjoyed it more than anything else.
-
Jack walked around Alex's apartment helping the latter search for a book among the hundreds if not thousands that were scattered around his apartment. In all honesty the teenager would have much rather been cuddling with Alex in another blanket fort while they talked or just dozed in each other's arms, but Alex seemed desperate to find the book so Jack volunteered to help.
"Lex is it this one?" Jack shouted as he crouched down and picked up a thick hardcover book with a blank black cover and gold font on the side that he didn't bother to read.
"That's the one!" Alex exclaimed making his way over to the younger to retrieve said book.

"Okay so really I just wanted to read this one poem to you...it's one of my favorites." Jack nodded and smiled admiring how Alex lit up at the mention of his favorite poem. "It's called Annabell Lee..."

"Well that was...I really don't know." Jack laughed half heartledly a short while later after Alex had finished reading the poem to him.
"Seriously tell me what you think, I need to pick a poem to recite for some nerdy teacher stuff and I'd really like your input."
"Well I think the emotion you put into it was great...but isn't it a little sad?"
"What's wrong with it being sad? In fact I think it shows a lot of strength when someone can show something other than joy with no barriers...it's actually one of the things I really like about you." Alex finished with a small shrug and began to get up from his spot on the couch.
"Wait...I think you should read it. And uh maybe read it for me again?"
Alex smiled but didn't bother to sit back down so that Jack could snuggle into his side while he read. "Next Friday, the cafe we met at on Skyway. The other English teachers and I are running the poetry slam, come by at around six with some friends and you can catch me reading...although I've got another idea for a poem already." He made a mischievous smirk and walked off to put away his book.
"You're such a tease." Jack muttered and got up to follow his boyfriend into his bedroom.
"Take that back!" Alex shouted over his shoulder with a laugh. Jack simply rolled his eyes again and caught up with his boyfriend to tangle their fingers together and lead the elder into his bedroom.

Okay I normally cringe at student/teacher fics, but cuz it's a 6 year age difference, I gave it a shot. This story is so great! The ending is beautiful. My eyes are watering. Not even kidding.
