For Baltimore (Part Two)

Chapter 5

The thought that kept running through Mitch's head was 'she fired me. I can't believe she fired me'.

But that wasn't his biggest concern. He dropped the latest issue of Alternative Press after he read the front cover, anger and jealousy coursing through his veins. The cover had read: Alex Gaskarth and Delilah Gray have announced that they are engaged.

Now, this upset Mitch quite a lot. He put his hands atop his head as his heart sped up in his chest. He hated the feeling of being in love, just fucking despised it, but here it was, taunting him, telling him he would never find anyone who loved him back equally. He turned and ran out of the store's doors, getting in his car and sitting there. He placed his hands on the wheel, sobbing as tears spilled down his cheeks. He would've done anything to get Delilah to himself, even if that meant raising Gaskarth's kid.

"It's not fair! Not fair at all!" Mitch yelled between sobs, clearly hurting.

"I love her! I love you Delilah!" he yelled. He never thought he'd see the day where Delilah Gray, the most beautiful woman he'd ever laid eyes on, got engaged. Not just engaged, but to Alexander, a guy he's known for years because of Matt Flyzik. He always hoped, everyday for the past five years, that Delilah would break it off with Daulton, and when she did, Mitch comforted her while she cried, but Alex just had to be there, soothing her better than himself. It was no wonder she fell in love with him, no matter all the fights they had, and the many kisses they shared before they were even dating. It hurt his heart that night on stage when they made it official, and he knew he would never get a chance against a guy like Alex, a guy who got women swooning for him just by opening his mouth and singing. Nope. It just wasn't utterly fair.

Mitch wiped under his eyes, his sadness turning to rage the longer he thought about Alex. Who knows what the guy was doing right now, not like he cared. He started the car and took off out of the parking lot of the little convenience store, and turned onto the street, going ten over the speed limit. He didn't care if he got pulled over, or even arrested at that. All he cared about was getting to the venue he was told to leave from a little less than a week ago. He knew they'd still be there, because their next show wasn't until next week. He sped onto the highway, not giving a damn about anything, nothing at all. He chewed his lip in anticipation as he passed a sign that had something to do with the venue. He had about thirty miles more to go, and he wasn't thinking about stopping anytime soon. Of course, his plan was foiled as he passed a highway trooper, and his lights and sirens went off.

"Fuck!!" He yelled, hitting the brakes and throwing his hands up in the air, quickly putting them back on the wheel. He came up with a quick plan to tell the police officer. He merged into the next lane, and the next before pulling up alongside the highway. The officer pulled up behind him and got out of his patrol car, and Mitch rolled the window down, fresh tears staining his cheeks.

"Do you have any idea how fast you were going, sir?" He asked.

"I-I do, sir." Mitch stammered.

"And do you have a reason for going so fast?" He asked.

"My wife is in labor!" Mitch lied.

"Uh, where's your wife, sir?" The police man asked.

"At the hospital! I got the call at work!" Mitch continued.

"Ah, I see. I'll let you off on a warning, but next time, it's a ticket... also, I'm sad to hear that you were fired from managing Grim Winter. Did you find a new job already?" The police man asked. Stunned, Mitch looked at him, his mouth slightly open. He didn't think anybody, not even a police officer, would recognize him, let alone his old job. He felt a fresh set of tears overwhelm him, and they slid down his cheeks.

"Uh.. yeah. I uh got a new job.." Mitch lied, once again.

"Why'd they let you go?" He asked.

"Delilah... she um.. fired me after I told her I love her." Mitch said.

"That's tough, man. I'm sorry, I'll let you go." He said. Mitch nodded and the officer left. Mitch rolled his window up and took off, noting at how much of an idiot that officer was. Oh, how Alex would pay for taking his love away from him. How he would pay, for it not being fair that he hadn't known her as long. How he would pay, for getting Delilah pregnant, when that could've been his kid, not Alex's.
