Deer In The Headlights

Alex's P.O.V.

"Afternoon, Jack." I smiled, waving my hand at Jack. I let him into my work room, heading straight to the table.

"Afternoon, Gaskarth." He smirked, sitting down. I rolled my eyes playfully at him, taking my seat.

"Yeah, you don't have to call me that." I rolled my eyes again, crossing my arms over my chest, looking back down at the table.

"Well, I find it sexy." Jack whispered, but I caught what he had said. Oh, so really?

"So, how was your day, Barakat?" I smirked, pulling my hands behind my head.

"Yeah, you don't have to call me that." Jack mocked me. Seriously, what is it with him copying me. I don't really care, it's sort of cute.

"Well, I think it's sexy." I smirked, bringing my hands back down onto the table. Jack blushed, looking down. So he didn't want me to catch on what he said? Too bad that I have good hearing.

"You're cute." I smiled at the blushing Jack who had his head down, his arms under the table. He broke into a smile and then shook his head.

"Nuh-uh. You're the cute one." He said, a sassy tone added on to it.

"Nope. You are." I protested.

"You are."


"You are."

"Fine, I'll be the cute. You can be...whatever." He rolled his eyes, looking back down on the table.

"'I'll be the cute?' Oh my god, that was cute because it made no sense, and aw. Get your fat ass here now." I demanded, wanting to cuddle with Jack. Because damn it, he's really cute.

"Sorry, don't wanna get caught." He smirked.

"I don't care. I'll just say that you were feeling really down and you needed a hug." I smiled, feeling actually proud about how that could work. Jack looked up, raising an eyebrow.

"So you're going to lie to the people-people?" Jack asked. People-people. I think I should make a dictionary called ' Jack Barakat the Amazing Man With Amazing Words ' Because seriously, yeah.

"Jack, you're a pro' at English." I laughed, getting up and walking over to him. I attacked him with a hug and get gasped, turning his body around so he could hug back comfortably. I smiled, my head resting on Jack's shoulder. Jack has a really comfortable shoulder.

"Ja-"

I heard the door open behind me. Shit shit shit.

"-ck it's okay. It'll get better." I nervously said, pulling out the hug. I saw Jack's confused look until he looked over to the door. I gulped, feeling really nervous. What if who ever saw it saw it in the wrong way? Okay, I'm over- thinking. I turned my head to the door. It was my boss, Danny.

"Hey, Danny." I smiled, my nerves eating my insides. It was just a hug, that's all. But what if me and Jack were kissing? Seen as Danny doesn't knock, he couldn't seen. Calm down, Alex .

"Hey, Alex. Can I quickly talk to Jack outside? It'll only take five minutes." He asked, a happy smile came over his face. I hope this is good.

"I um, yeah, sure." I smiled, playing with my top. I moved out the way of Jack so he could walk past me. I watched quietly as Jack walked out my door.

Jack

"Hey, Jack. I'm Danny." The man who's name I now know as Danny said, closing the door to Alex's room. I smiled nervously. I'm never great with meeting new people.

"Hey." I quietly said.Danny chuckled and that made me blush.

"Okay, it's nothing important, but i just wanted to know if everything is going okay." He assured, gripping his brown clipboard in his hand. I gulped, getting ready to talk to a complete stranger.

"Yeah, everything's fine." I smiled, adding that extra convincing. It was true though, there wasn't any problems here.

"How's Alex? Seen as he's new here and you're his only patient for the time being, I was wondering if you two were getting along alright." I had to stop myself from letting a chuckle out as Danny said that. Oh, if only he knew.

"Yeah, Alex is great! He's been helping so much." I said, smiling up at Danny. Danny nodded his head, writing stuff onto his clipboard. After a while, his gaze went back up to me.

"So, that isn't the only thing I wanted to ask you. You found a boy in the bathroom a couple of weeks ago, correct?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. My smile faded instantly. God, I hated that day. So much was going on, my brain just couldn't handle it.

"C-correct." I stuttered. I was dreading what Danny was going to tell me now. What if the boy didn't make it? What if they hated me because I could've saved him quicker? I felt a strange feeling in my gut and my heart began to race.

"Okay, well, I just wanted to say thank you so much for catching him just on time. The doctors were luckily able to make him throw up the pills just in time. You really made Zack's family thrilled that he survived." Danny smiled widely. My eyes widened. Okay, I was not expecting to hear that. I saved somebody's life? Woah.

"I uh, um. T-thank you?" I asked, chuckling nervously after. The kids name was Zack

"Hey, um, what's his name?" I asked. Maybe I could chat with him one time? Maybe we'll get along fine.

"Zack, Zack Merrick. Thank you, seriously. You can go back to Mr Gaskarth now, thanks for your time." He said, waving his hand at me.

"Thank you." I waved back slowly and shyly. I opened the door to Alex's room, seeing him sat upon the counter. I smirked, walking over to him. Meanwhile, my head was still glued on Zack. I swear I've heard his name in school before. Yeah, Merrick, the one everyone's scared to go near. Why would he be at therapy? Also with a bottle of pills?

"Jack?" Alex called, waving his hand in my face. I noticed I had stopped right in front of Alex, my body in between his legs.

"Hi." I smiled, leaning up to kiss him. He smiled, bringing me closer. The obvious dragons were flying around in my belly. Sometimes the feeling was so strong, the dragons hurt. But I knew that was because I truly loved Alex. I would love him through any pain.

"I love you." I mumbled, bringing my lips away from his. He pouted from my lips being away, but said the four words that I loved hearing coming out from his mouth.

"I love you, too."
