Deer In The Headlights

Jack's p.o.v~
I woke up to the sound of an annoying beeping noise. What the...? I slowly forced my heavy eyes open to get blinded by the room. Whiteness absorbed through my eyes. White walls, white tables, white bed- wait, white bed! Where the hell am I?This isn't my warm bed. This isn't the smell of my trash-y room! I glanced around a little bit more as I figured out where the slow beeping was coming from. There was a white machine with a black screen monitoring my heart rate. It didn't take a genius to know that I was in hospital. But why?
I slowly tried to sit up, only to be hit with a shot of dark pain. I hissed at the new, horrible feeling. That's when I finally looked down at my body
I was covered in a thin, woolly blanket that had a child flying a kite, with different colours in the background. It didn't look appealing, but it was sweet. I then looked to side to see my arm covered in a cast. That's when I started to panic. My eyes hovered down to my legs as I saw a bandage covered over my foot.
What the fuck~
"Jack! You're finally awake. Nice to see you ,buddy," A tall man with a blue coat walked into the room. He had an brown clipboard in his hand which a pen was attached to it,"I'm just going to check if you're okay, and ask some questions. Is that okay?" He asked, walking to get a chair and struggled to pick it up. He walked halfway to me, trying his best not to drop chair...but failed. The chair slipped from his grasp, and fell to the ground with a 'bang' I jumped slightly, and giggled. He looked at me with an annoyed, embarrassed look. I gave him a sympathy look and he smiled before picking the chair back up. He hovered to me, placing the chair down beside the metal bed I was laying on.
He chuckled, "Sorry for that." I smiled back to him, but then it dropped when I saw the clipboard was covered in questions. I wasn't ready for this. I didn't even know why I was in hospital. He set the clipboard on the small coffee table beside me before clasping his long fingers together. I gulped at the first question shot at me, like a bullet.
"How're you feeling?" He asked calmly. The thing is, I don't know what I was feeling at this moment in time. I felt as my emotions have become numb, along with my body. He starred right into my eyes, trying to read me. I took a deep breath in before spilling out a couple of words, "I-I'm not sure..." I replied quietly. I looked down at my body, still confused as why it was covered in bandages. I returned my head back up to the doctor. He had brown hair with pink splattered at the top with some blonde, and brown, hazel eyes. I sighed before I spoke, "W-What happened to me? I mean, how did I end up here?" I asked, concerned. That's when his smile turned upside down. He took a shaky breath. "Well, I um, you kind of got hit by a bus..." That's all the words it took, I zoned out.
Hit by a bus?! How did this happen?
That's when everything came scooping through my weak head. I had an argument with my mum, and stomped out the house. I walked down the streets, not paying much attention. That's when I remembered everything. How could I be so stupid? People might of been on that bus. They could of got hurt badly from the sudden motion. I snapped out off my thoughts as I turned to face the man.
"How long was I-I out for?" I asked. He grabbed his clipboard and flipped some pages, concentrating.
"A couple of hours. Did you know you was dead for a minute?" He asked. What?! I was dead for an minute?! I was dead and the last word I spoke was to my mum, saying how much I hated her. That's terrible. If I ever died, I would never been able to forgive myself for saying those words. I love my mum with all my heart, even though I really wished I could take her mouth away from her half the time.
"Jack?!" I heard a shouting voice being throw towards me. I zoned back to reality to see my mum running towards me, crying.
"Jack! I'm so s-sorry, Jack." She cried, hugging me tightly, but not enough to hurt me. She kissed all over my face.
"I'm so, so sorry." She apologized, tears streaming down her face. That's when tears started falling down my eyes. I couldn't have imagined not ever seeing my mum again.
"I love you, mum. I'm so sorry. I love you." I cried into her neck, absorbing the smell of perfume and cookies. How I'd miss that smell.
"I'm such a terrible mother for not looking out for you. But instead, shouting at you." She sobbed, and her tears slipped down my neck, making me cry more.
"N-no mum. You was doing it for my sake. I should of never s-said them words to you," I was in full break-down mode. "I was dead mum! A-and the last thing I said was 'I fucking hate you' I-I'm sorry mum. I don't know what to do if I'd died and those being my last words. I love you mum." I wiped the tears off my face and did the same to her. She smiled before pulling back, and pushing the hair out off my face.
"I-I'm sorry too, darling. You don't have to go to therapy, I won't make yo-"
No! N-no. I think I want too. I-I want to get better. I'll do it for you mum." I smiled, still feeling weak.
"Aw, baby. Thank you so much!" She smiled, kissing my cheek. She leaned back up, standing against the doctor. She looked so happy and reviled by them words. That honestly, made me happier and less worried.
"I'll leave you with Doctor, Gaskarth." She smiled before kissing my cheek saying 'I love you' and walked out the room. I missed her already. I can tell things are gonna be different.
