KAY
It had been a month since I officially moved in with Jack and he had given me the promise ring. It's actually pretty funny, he didn't tell any of the guys he was giving it to me. Which was understandable, as it was just a promise ring. But we had some explaining to do when he took me to the recording studio to meet Alex and Cass the next day. Needless to say, (considering they're both hopeless romantics) they freaked out. The fans, of course, caught wind of the ring and my twitter was bombarded for a good two days before Jack finally tweeted that we weren't engaged (yet) and I had just promised to marry him someday. On the first of October, the new record was released. It was met with great reception, and even though it had only been out for three weeks, it had already sold more copies than any other All Time Low record had by its third week. The guys and I were insanely proud, and even more proud when it was up for a Kerrang award. We, meaning the guys and Lisa, Cassadee, and I, had flown out to London the week before to explore the city and enjoy ourselves. Many of our friends, including the guys in Pierce The Veil, were out there too, so we got to hang out with them as well. Eventually, the night of the show came.
"Guys! Hurry the fuck up!" I heard Alex yell from the living room. I was standing infront of the bathroom mirror, applying red lipstick and messing with my simple black dress.
"Shut the fuck up!" Jack yelled back to him. He was standing behind me, pulling on various strands of his hair, making sure his skunk hair was perfect.
"Babe, it looks fine. Quit messing with it or you'll screw it up."
"Fine." He said with a sigh and dropped his arms to his side.
"Do I look okay?" I asked, smoothing the front of my dress.
"You look beautiful." Jack said, wrapping his arms around my waist and resting his chin on my shoulder. "Do I?"
"You look beautiful too." I laughed, turning around and adjusting his shirt. I smoothed the front of his jacket. "There. You look great." I stood on my toes to kiss his cheek.
"Don't get too close to my hair. The hairspray fumes might kill you." he chuckled.
I laughed. "You ready?"
"Yeah, let's go." He smiled. We walked out into the living room, hand in hand. Alex, Rian, and Cass stood in out living room, each equally dressed up.
"Bro, there's something on your face." Alex said to Jack.
"Dammit Kay, did you get lipstick on me?" He laughed.
"Oh shit, sorry." I giggled, wiping the red smudge on his cheek.
"Well, the car is waiting and we still have to pick up Zack and his date, so..." Rian said.
"Zack's date?" I asked, excitedly.
"Yeah, it's some girl from Buzznet. Apparently he's been talking to her for a while." Cass said.
"We had no clue either." Alex said as we walked out of the apartment.
"So Kay, how long have you been dating Jack?" Sarah, Zack's date asked.
"Almost four months now!" I said with a grin.
"I know it doesn't seem that long, but it feels like we've known each other forever." He laughed, squeezing my hand.
"That's awesome." Sarah smiled. Even though I had only known her since she and Zack got into the car, she seemed pretty great, and I knew what everyone was thinking. We hoped she stuck around.
Eventually, the car stopped and we got out and walked into the Kerrang building. Immediately, I saw Vic Fuentes and Oli Sykes, already holding drinks and laughing.
"Hey, Jack, there's Oli and Vic." I said, squeezing his hand. I still wasn't used to seeing the guys from different bands around, it was strange. He led me over to them.
"Hey guys." Jack said.
"Hey, Jack." Vic smiled. "Hello, Kay, how are you."
"I'm doing well, and you?" I smiled.
"I'm pretty good. Excited." He laughed.
"Oh, Kay, I don't think you've met Oli, yet."
"I don't think so." I laughed, turning to face the Bring Me The Horizon singer.
"Kay, nice to meet you." I shook his hand.
"Oli Sykes. My pleasure." He said. I must admit, his accent made me swoon a bit.
"So, Jack, what are you guys up for?" Oli asked.
"Best New Album." He grinned.
"Oh awesome, good luck. We're up for Best Video."
"Thanks, brother. Same to you." Jack said. "You too, Vic." He said, nodding to him. Pierce The Veil was up for Best Live Band.
"Thanks, bro." He smiled.
"Um, we're gonna go find some alcohol. See you guys later." Jack said, wrapping an arm around my waist.
"Bye Vic. It was nice meeting you, Oli." I smiled as Jack led me towards the bar. As we walked over, I nearly walked into Cassadee.
"Oh, shit, sorry, Cass." I laughed. "I didn't even see you."
"Oh, no, it's fine, Kay." She laughed.
"Hey, Kay, we've got-" Jack started, but Cass cut him off.
"Oh, Kay! I just heard the news, congrats! It'll be aweso-" she said, until Jack stopped her, making a slicing motion at his neck with the hand that wasn't holding mine.
"Oh, oh my gosh, I'm...okay. Sorry." She blushed, walking away.
"Jack, what was she talking about? What news?" I asked, incredibly confused about what had just happened.
"It's nothing, you'll find out later." He winked, a smirk spread across his face, once again wrapping an arm around my waist and leaing me to the bar.
"Jack." I frowned. "You know I hate surprises."
"This one's worth it." He laughed. I was about to argue with him again, but I heard a slightly familiar laugh, followed by another voice. I looked up at the bar.
"Jack, oh my god. Is that..." I said, squeezing his arm.
"Patrick Stump and Pete Wentz? Yeah. They're up for Best Video, up against Oli's band. Remember they released the video for 'Miss Missing You'?"
"Um...yeah. How could I forget?" I chuckled. How did I not know that all of these bands were up for awards?
"Do you want me to introduce you? Pete and I are pretty good friends." He asked.
"Jack Barakat. No. I can't. Oh my god." My heart pounded a bit. Fall Out Boy had always been one of my favorite bands.
"No, it'll be fun!" He laughed, pulling me over to them. "Hey, Pete!" He said to the short bassist.
"Jack! Long time no see." He laughed and shook his hand, then turned to me. "I'm assuming this is the Kay you've been talking about?"
Oh my god. I was speechless.
"Yep, this is Kay."
"Pete Wentz." He said, extending his hand. I shook it.
"Kay Meyers. Nice to meet you." I said, trying to keep my voice level.
"Patrick Stump." The short singer said, extending his hand as well.
"Kay." I grinned. "It's nice to meet you."
Jack talked to the two men for a while, until finally Patrick mentioned they needed to go find Joe and Andy, and they both stood up.
"It was nice meeting you, Kay." Patrick smiled at me.
"You too, Patrick." I grinned. Once they walked out of earshot, I turned to face Jack.
"Jack. Bassam. Barakat. You cannot just do that to me." I said, faking anger.
"Why?" He pouted. "It's fun to see you all star struck." He laughed.
"Jerk." I grinned, lightly smacking his chest.
"We should probably head to our table, do you want a drink?" He asked.
"Um, yeah, a vodka martini would be great." I said. Jack ordered our drinks, then handed my glass to me. We walked to our table and joined the rest of the band and their girlfriends. I was sat between Jack and Cass.
After a few minutes, the host walked onto the stage and welcomed us to the Kerrang Awards. The first bunch of awards went by quickly. We all applauded when our friends won, including You Me At Six, who won Best Single, Pierce The Veil, and Fall Out Boy, who beat Bring Me The Horizon. Finally, they announced Best Album. When the host said All Time Low, Jack cheered and kissed me hard on the cheek. The guys went up on stage and made a quick acceptance speech. Alex thanked Cass and I for doing guest vocals, which made me blush a bit. It was amazing to see the guys I loved receiving an award for this album. They deserved it. Eventually, the show ended and we headed back to our hotel. On our way out, Jack stopped and led me over to an open area.
"I almost forgot!" He said, excitedly. "Someone here wants to meet you!"
"Jack, I can't deal with meeting any more bands tonight." I laughed.
"No, no, it's not a band! Come on." He pulled me back into the building.
"Jack, won't the car leave us?"
"I told them to leave. I called a cab." He dragged me over to a woman in the corner of the room. She was only a few years older than us.
"Hello, Jack." She said when she noticed us. "I was wondering if you forgot." She laughed.
"Almost did." Jack chuckled. "Anyway, Kay, this is Lindsey Shaw."
"Kay Meyers, Pleased to meet you." I said, shaking her hand.
"I'm the manager for The Beautiful Strange. It's a newly signed pop punk band on Hopeless Records."
"Yeah, Jack mentioned a new band was signed recently."
"Yes, well, it's a long story, but they're in need of a new singer. It would be amazing if you could give me a call once you get back in the states. The band would love to have you." Lindsey handed me a business card, shook my hand again, and walked off.
"Jack, oh my gosh." I whispered, turning the card over in my hands and staring at it.
"I know." He said, taking my hand and leading me to the door. "She contacted me a week ago and asked if she could meet you tonight and explained it to me a bit. I didn't want to warn you beforehand because then you would be nervous and that wouldn't be any fun." He laughed, kissing my cheek.
"What do you think I should do?" I asked.
"I think you should call her. Talk it over. It would be awesome." He grinned, opening the cab door for me. I climbed in and Jack got in on the other side. He told the driver the name of our hotel and turned to me.
"So you aren't mad at me for not telling you?"
"Jack, how could I be mad? If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have this." I said, resting my head on his shoulder. I closed my eyes sighed in content, finally pleased with how my life was turning out.
"Hey, Kay?"
"Yeah, Jack?"
"I love you." I could hear the smile in his voice.
"I love you, too, Jack. And I always will." I smiled softly.

Notes

Wow. I can't believe I've finished this story. It was so much fun writing, I can't even explain it. I just want to say thanks to all of you guys for reading this and your nice comments and messages. Also huge thanks for supporting me when I had to take a break and coming back to read when I returned. You guys are awesome and I love you lots. Also, sequel is in the works! It might take a while because school is about to start up again for me (bad timing on my part, sorry) and I'll be busy for a while. But once things settle down a bit, I'll get to posting. So stoked for it, big plans.(: anyway, thanks again, guys. You're all amazing.
