I'll Paint You Wings.

Surprise.

KAY

"Okay, Chicago, to close out the show today, we're going to play one of our older songs, 'Memories That Fade Like Photographs'. You guys have been great and if anyone wants to get a little sexy with us, come and find me." Alex said with a wink. The crowed erupted into cheers as Jack started to play the intro. I couldn't help but smile as Alex began to sing.

"I said I'd never forget your face, vaulted away inside my head." He turned the mic to the crowd and let them sing the next line. I sang along quietly backstage. This song meant so much to me in highschool. I fell in and out of love a lot, and this song helped me through. All of their songs have helped me in some way or another.

"I could be nothing but a memory to you. Don't let this memory fade away. There's a look in your eye and its screaming goodbye, now it tears me apart just to look at the sky." Alex sang out. "And I'd hate to watch you cry, I hate to watch you cry." This was always my favorite part, just because of the raw emotion. as the song ended, Jack leaned into his mic and said, "You guys were a fucking awesome crowd. Thanks for coming out, be safe, and suck a dick!" He and the rest of the guys walked off stage on the other side, so I headed back to find Jack.

When I walked back, I saw Jack on the phone, so I decided not to run up right away. About five minutes later I heard him say, "Okay. Bye." so I ran up to him.

"Jack!" I yelled, jumping up onto his back and kissing his shoulder, which was probably the only part that wasn't sweaty.

"Holy shit!" He said, then when he realized it was me and not some sort of psycho rapist fangirl on his back, he said, "Oh, hey!" and kissed my lips. "I'm going to go change, then I'm your's." He said with a smile.

"Okay." I said, letting myself drop of his back.

"I'm just going to the dressing room back there, so you can come too, if you want. Alex and the others ran off to find water." He said with a smile.

"Sure." I said, taking his hand.

We walked back into the dressing room. Jack closed the door and I flopped into a chair. He started to change his clothes.

"So what are we doing today?" I asked.

"Well, actually, I have a surprise for you."

"A surprise? What is it?" I asked excitedly.

"I'm not going to tell you!" He grinned.

"Can I have a hint?"

"Nope!"

I pouted and he walked over to my chair. Putting his hands on the arms of it, he leaned over me. I stared up into his dark eyes and smirked. He leaned down and softly kissed me. He took my hand and pulled me to my feet.

"Let's go! I want you to meet someone!"

We walked out of the dressing room and out the back door of the stage.

"Are we there yet?" I asked. Jack had me walk with my eyes shut for about fifty steps, and I was getting annoyed.

"We're really close!"

"I just want to open my eyes!"

"Only a few more steps!"

I groaned, but then I heard another voice say, "Jack! What's up, man?"

Jack said, "Kellin! Not much? How've you been?"

Kellin? As in Kellin Quinn? As in singer of Sleeping With Sirens?

I flicked my eyes open to see Kellin Quinn standing in front of me. I gasped.

"Hi, I'm Kellin." He said, sticking out a hand to shake.

I took it and said, "Kay. Pleased to meet you." I shyly grinned and shuffled closer to Jack.

"So, Jack mentioned you're a fan."

"Yeah, I am." I blushed, making them both laugh.

"Well, I gotta get going, we're going on in half and hour and I still have to round everyone up to do a sound check." Kellin said, then added, "It was nice meeting you, Kay." He smiled.

"Nice meeting you too!" I blushed even more. Jack took my hand and we walked away.

"I can't believe I just met Kellin Quinn! You're the best. Seriously." I hugged him.

"Well, you mentioned Sleeping With Sirens was one of your favorite bands last night, and I knew they were on this date, so I called him and asked if you could meet him." He said with a grin.

"Well, you're great."

"I know." He smirked.

"And so humble!" I laughed.

"That wasn't your only surprise." He said.

"There's more?" I asked in shock.

"Yeah! I hope you want food."

"Of course I want food." I smiled.

We walked up a hill just outside of the venue. At the top of the hill, was a picnic blanket and a basket.

"Oh my gosh! Jack! This is great! When did you do all of this?"

"Actually, Alex set it up while I distracted you." He smiled. "Alex is good for wing man stuff like that."

I laughed as Jack sat down and pulled me down next to him. We spent the next hour sprawled out on the blanket, eating, talking, and, of course, kissing.

I was lying on my stomach, with Jack sitting next to me tracing patterns across my shoulders, nearly putting me to sleep. I was just about to drift off when he traced something more than a random pattern on my left shoulder blade.

Shit. I thought this top covered it.

"Jack."

"Kay."

"Please don't ask about it. I don't want to bring up my past right now. I don't want to ruin this moment."

"I won't ask about it now. Just know this, I'm going to want to know more. If not now, then later."

"Maybe I'll tell you the story someday. Just not now."

"Okay. Fine. I'll leave it alone." He said, lying down on his back next to me. We sat in silence for a while, until Jack broke it again.

"Kay."

"Hmm?" I grunted.

"What can I call you?"

"Huh?"

"You know what I mean. Like, today, Kellin asked me who you were. I had to say I wasn't sure. What are we?"

I turned onto my side so that I could face him.

"What do you think we are?" I asked, because, honestly, I wasn't sure either.

"I think we're more than friends, but not exactly couple. Like, more than plain milk, but not exactly a chocolate shake." He said, making me chuckle. Leave it to Jack to relate human relationships to food.

"Do you want to be a milkshake, Jack?"

He was silent in thought for awhile, then said, "Yeah. I do. A lot, actually. Do you?"

"More than anything. But only if we can be a chocolate milkshake. Everyone knows that they're the best." I said, kissing him. I went to pull away, but Jack stroked my cheek and held our lips together. He slid one arm around my waist and pulled me close to him, sliding his other hand around to the back of my neck. I brushed one hand into the back of his hair, letting it get lost. I put my other hand on his chest. I felt his tongue on my lip, trying to enter my mouth. I decided to play a little and didn't let him in, but I gave in with a little moan that I knew drove him crazy.

When we finally came up for air, Jack said, "You know Alex is going to flip when we tell him, right?"

"Oh my. I didn't even think of that. I want out." I said playfully.

"Are we going to tell the fans?" He asked.

"I'm not sure. What do you think we should do?"

"Let them wonder. Its more fun that way." He grinned.

I leaned in and kissed him again.

"Jack Barakat, my boyfriend. I like how that sounds." I said, and I couldn't help grinning like a fool.
