You Have My Heart, At Least For The Most Part

I knocked on the door. One, two, three times, until a tall, dark haired woman opened the door and smiled at me.

"Good afternoon," I said. "Is Alex awake? I need to talk to him... please."

"Hello, dear. Yes, he actually is in his bedroom right now, I think he's getting dressed. Who are you, by the way?" She asked, the smile never leaving her face.

"I'm Taylor, Alex's friend."

"Well, I'm Alex's mom, you can call me Isobel." She moved from the door and showed me where Alex's room was.

"Alex? Are you gettin dressed?" I asked, my hand on the room's door.

"Tay? What are you doing here?" I heard him shout from inside.

"I'll explain when you let me in."

Suddenly, the door opened, revealing a 'I-just-woke-up' Alex Gaskarth. His hair was stuck in a lot of different directions, which made me chuckle.

"Hii." He said.

"Eew! Morning breath! You're gross, Gaskarth! Wash your fucking teeth, for God's sake." I put my hand on my nose, faking a disgusted face. He just rolled his eyes, and led me inside, closing the door behind me. "I need to talk to you." I said, serious.

"Then talk." He said, sitting down on his bed, me coping his actions a few seconds later.

"Why is Zack behaving like a complete bitch?"

I felt Alex tense. "What are you talking about?"

"Alex, don't fool with me. I know that there's something going on with you two. Lisa has realized, too. And if she realizes, it has to be something big." He chuckled at my last statement, but I kept serious.

"Well, you see... Um... We both like the same person, you know? And Zack thinks this person might like me back. And, apparently, he told this person that we both like them... and I just..." Suddenly, he started sobbing, and his breath intensified. I hugged him tightly, rubbing circles in his back, to try to comfort him.

"Alex, shh.. Everything is going to be alright. I'm sure this person might like you, you're a great guy! Who wouldn't like you? Just... just forget about Zack. He'll soon realize the mess that he made, and I'm sure he will apologize, because you're his best friend."

"Y-you don't understand..." Another sob. "The person can't like me. Well, they can, but... but.. we couldn't date..." Sob, sob, sob.

"Alex, it is a guy?" He nodded. "Oh, sweetty. If somebody says something bad of you because you're dating another guy, I'll punch them in the face. Promise."

"Thank you Tay, but that's not really the problem..."

"Then what is it?"

"It's Mr. Barakat we are talking about."

I let out a nervous laugh. It was kinda obvious sometimes, you know? The way Alex looked at him, how he blushed whenever he was near, he stuttered, sometimes he started daydreaming... Yes, too obvious. But, Zack? There was no doubt that Alex was as straight as a circle, but, Zack? I never thought he swinged that way too...

"Say something, Tay. I know I'm an idiot, but..."

"I don't think you're an idiot. I just... I never thought that Zack..."

"Nor did I."

"What are you gonna do?"

He shrugged. "I don't know. But, right now, I'm gonna watch movies with my best friend." He smirked at me, stood up, put the tv on and sat next to me on the bed. I grinned at him, and we started Peter Pan.
