Chris let us in and I started my usual round, always watching out for Jack though. First, I went to the glass pavilion with all the Australian wildlife. It was hot and beautiful with a lot of red sand and fascinating animals but it was not my favourite place. That was still to come. Jack was laughing and pointing at different animals. I loved to see him this happy.
We moved on to the Dolphin Discovery exhibition. The six dolphins in the tank were always great to watch with their funny moves and Jack was just like a little kid. He reminded me of Elaine at times. The enthusiasm in what he did and how he acted. After having watched the dolphins for some time, we decided to move on to my favourite part.
The exhibition called Jelly Invasion. Many Jellyfish swimming around in the light, looking like girls in big dresses. Slowly but beautifully swimming around in the deep blue water. So dark and yet so fascinating. I and Elaine had used to watch them for hours and judge their appearances. Jack was starstruck by the beauty of their “dresses”. He stood there with his mouth open, looking at them.
“You like them?” I asked with a smirk. He tore his gaze from the glass for a second to turn to me.
“Yes, oh my god. They are great and their dresses are wonderful!” he gushed. He was just like a little kid.
We stayed there for ages but I decided to leave when thoughts of Elaine drowning started invading my mind. A few tears managed to find a way out of my eyes but I quickly cleaned them up. We wandered the aquarium for some more. Finally, we sat down on a bench and I got out our snacks. They smelled great; peanut butter jelly bread. I ate mine and watched as Jack ate his very slowly, probably to savour the whole thing as well as possible. He was smiling and closing his eyes from time to time. It was adorable.
After that, we went back home. Jack was much more talkative and happier than on our way to the aquarium.
At home, we decided to try again and have some tea to talk to each other.
