Chapter One

*Jack's pov*

"Come on Jack, wakey wakey." Jack's mum murmured from the door, trying to get him up from his slumber and on his way too school. Jack groaned loudly, signalling to his mum that he was awake. He listened as her footsteps retreated, before leaning over and checking his phone. 5 messages from Ellie, and another from Jenna. As always, various messages from the group chat with Dan, Josh, Rian and Max, and one or two Facebook notifications. Nothing special. Jack hauled himself out of his bed and made his way to the bathroom. After completing his morning ritual of peeing, checking and then washing his face and brushing his teeth, he went back to his room to get ready. He attended a sixth form, and so had uniform, so shrugged on his black suit. Jack's hair fell over his eyes as he grabbed his hair spray, ensuring it would stay flopped across his forehead. He was pleased with how it looked today, and so grabbed his bag and walked downstairs. He grabbed a slice of toast, swiftly kissed his mum's cheek and went out the door.

The air was damp as he made his way round to knock in for Matt, which reminded Jack winter was setting in. He was still getting back into the morning routine after the long summer, which he had spent playing guitar constantly. Jack put his headphones in as his phone buzzed. Another text from Ellie. 'Eurgh,' he sighed. Ellie was one of his best friends, but she was one of those really clingy people that felt they needed to know exactly what you were doing every second of every day. Jack replied bluntly, quickly telling Matt he was on his way. He also text Jenna, before shoving his phone back into his pocket. Jenna was brilliant, and Jack knew he would be nowhere without the girl in his life. They were like siblings, and although everyone said they would be a great couple, they both knew that would never happen. Jack had met Jenna at nursery and their parents used to be great friends, and they'd stayed friends ever since. They did everything together, knew everything about each other, and we're nearly always together.

Jack turned into Matt's driveway, ringing the doorbell on the left of the white door. Jack watched as the figure approached and then opened the door, revealing a sleepy looking Matt, who also was not faring well with the early morning calls. Jack laughed at his friend, running a hand through his freshly done hair to make it look worse than it already did. Matt's hair was spiked up in his usual fashion, his grey suite making his dark eyes stand out as he grabbed his bag and pushed Jack out of his door and on the way too the bus stop.
"Thanks for ruining my hair, dick face" Matt mumbled sleepily, running his hand through his hair multiple times, trying to put it back all in the right places.
"You're so welcome." Jack replied, grinning. Matt laughed, and the two boys started talking about everything as they made their way too school.

When they reached school, they walked down the drive and towards the sixth form block. The younger kids all hung out in their groups, catching up after their summers apart despite it being the the third day back. Everyone had started on Wednesday, and it was now Friday, and everyone was thankful for the fast approaching weekend. The two boys pushed open the doors, nodded to each other, before parting ways to their groups.
"Hey guysssss!" Jack said, grinning at his mates, knowing they'd all be grumpy. Josh grunted, unable to reply due to a massive yawn. Rian smiled back, his eyes heavy and Max might as well have actually been asleep. He was just about to ask where Dan was, when his earphone was pulled out of his ear and the familiar voice said "stop being an antisocial bastard" as Dan joined them, lightly punching Jack playfully.
"Everyone else is still asleep so excuuuuuuse me!" Jack retorted, as Dan looked over the other guys, before laughing and agreeing with Jack. The two boys began to talk about their xbox match last night, which woke the other three up as they began to voice their opinions. The five boys stood laughing together, their group being tight knit and very close, all of them easy to read to the others.

When the bell went, they all sighed at the same time, and turned to walk towards their various form rooms. Jack and Rian veered off to the right towards the science block where their form room was situated. They walked in and took their seats together on the far table where they sat, after managing to persuade Mr Wilkinson to let them sit together. They both said 'hey' to Hayley and Lucy who sat at the table with them. Hayley had short, bright orange hair, that rested just above her shoulders, and had various band related bracelets around her wrist. She was a funny, witty girl, who Jack knew was a very talented singer. Lucy had long, light brown hair and shining blue eyes. She was a pretty girl, but quite quiet, but the two boys knew she was nice enough. As the second bell went, Mr Wilkinson waltzed in, wearing his usual tight black trousers, white shirt and black skinny tie. He had brown hair that he wore slicked back, and has a constant smile on his face. Jack knew girls thought he was hot, and even he could acknowledge that he was a good looking man. The teacher was funny and laid back as well, and got on well with nearly every student. Being in his form since we started at the school, Jack and the teacher had one of the best teacher-student relationships you would ever see.
"Hey guys, how you all doing?" He asked, flopping down onto his red spinny chair to log onto the computer to take the register. He had various clutter on his desk and around his room, and he somehow manage to relate most of them to at least one lesson whilst teaching. He was a physics teacher, and was one of Jacks physics teachers this year. The class murmured their response, and the young teacher spun around to get something out of the drawers behind him. "You guys know we have another day of mostly form time again today and then you have lessons period five and six." He informed them, taking out a diary and a sheet of paper and putting it on his desk and began taking the register. Everyone answered the usual "yes sir", "here sir", as the teacher pushed the button on his keyboard.
"Yay everyone's in," he said before standing up. Glancing round the room, checking for any empty seats, he walked over to the door. "Right we have a new boy joining today so everybody be nice, I'll go get him now." And he pulled the door open and walked out, his long legs making walking look effortless.
"Hey Jack, a new guy, let's see if you're paired with this one!" He said, winking.
"Shut up, Rian." Jack replied, knowing he was referring to how Jack had been given the last new three new people too join, most of which were people you would much rather avoid. and they had ended up avoiding him as well. It was also pretty certain they'd get this one as well - unless it was a girl. Jack shook his head at his friends remark, as Rian laughed, his teeth whiter than snow.
"Rian put your teeth away I'm being blinded!" Hayley said across the table, causing Jack and Lucy to burst into fits of laughter. "Whatever!" Rian said, grinning widely to show his teeth. Hayley pretended to scream in pain, lifting her arms to cover Rian's face, before turning back to talk to Lucy once more.

"Anyway dude, what happened in Matt storytime this morning?" Rian said turning to Jack, who sniggered at the jibe.
"Rian, you could at least pretend you like him, he's not alllll bad." Rian shook his head, looking down at the table. Jack knew his friend thought Matt would hurt him again, but everything was fine now. Three years had passed since they had their falling out, which led to the two not speaking for 18 months, and it was Rian who held the grudge out of everybody. "Anyway, screw talking about Matt for hours again, are you gonna build up the balls to ask Cass out this year?" Jack winked, glancing at Hayley to check she hadn't heard so she couldn't tell Cass. Rian had liked Cassadee for ages, and Jack was pretty sure the feeling was mutual between the two of them, yet neither was willing to make the first move. Rian rolled his eyes at Jack, punching his arm.
"Ow!" Jack pouted, rubbing his arm.
"That will teach you too be a dick then won't it!" Rian retorted, crossing his arms. The two boys continued their chit chat, often talking across the classroom to the rest of the form or too the girls on the table, and soon the form room was quite loud. However, it quickly turned silent as the door opened, and Mr Wilkinson walked in, followed by the new boy.
